In an age long past, the world was decimated by a force which name became lost to time. Three individuals named Naria, Ysha, and Xavander are credited for preventing the entire extinction of the elven race by creating places that the populace now calls Sanctuaries. These Sanctuaries often differ significantly from one another and are days and sometimes even weeks of travel by foot from one another, and between them is a place which no life grows or thrives called the Dead Plains, an empty landscape of sand and stone which must be traveled to move from sanctuary to sanctuary. To counter the dangers of the Dead Plains, the elves created the job Stonewalker. Stonewalkers are individuals trained to survive the harsh climates of the Dead Plains and are often used to guide caravans of goods for trade between sanctuaries. The local populace can also hire them for personal travel for the right coin. The job is dangerous, many men and women have died doing it, either to storms or lack of being adequately prepared, but it pays well and is a job that must be done.
