Hell wasn’t a very nice place: it was filled with demons and ghouls and horrible, monstrous souls who desired nothing like they desired suffering. But unlike the hell you may be familiar with, Hell was bereft of human souls to aggrieve. There had not been a human soul in thousands of years. The Devil, the demon most cunning, intelligent, and powerful of all in Hell, thought this was a rather terrible tragedy. After all, the demons yearned for a good laugh, the ghouls for a good meal, and the monsters yearned for fresh life and blood. He decided that he would devise a way to trap a soul for hell to torture, an eternal form of entertainment for all his dear compatriots. He would devise the perfect game to play with their human, and he decided what would be best was a maze, one containing his favorite beast. So he created it.
