A state of cold war exists between both powers, fought primarily between proxies in the contested space between them. One such contested area, created by the borders of the Federation, Klingon and Romulan empire is known locally as the Triangle. A collection of neutral worlds and small independent polities, all of the three major powers seek to bring this region into their spheres of influence.
