Chapter 26: Kill Yamada Kōsuke

In the middle of the hall, a Japanese officer in his thirties with a gingko-shaped beard stood with his hands resting on the hilt of his sword, coldly eyeing Mu Yang as he walked in and looked around. Behind him, three staff officers also stood there, curiously sizing up Mu Yang.

Interestingly, Mu Yang actually saw among the three staff members, the one he met on his first day entering Ba County, eating at the inn, the Gongyang staff member who was having a meal of braised abalone, however this guy clearly had no impression of Mu Yang.

"Hello, Lieutenant Colonel Yamada." Murong turned his gaze to the somewhat impatient Major General Yamada and said in Japanese.

"I dont know how to address you." Captain Yamada was already 70% convinced after hearing Muyangs pure Tokyo accent. The other party walked in with an air of confidence, scanning the surroundings without noticing him and his men, and with his standard Japanese, it was highly likely that he was a special agent from the Empire, but he didnt know which department or what level.

"I hope I can have a word with Lieutenant Colonel Yamada alone." said Mu Yang unequivocally.

Yamada Kōsui narrowed his eyes and finally nodded, saying, "Alright, all of you can leave." His last words were directed at the several staff officers in the room.

"Goodbye." The three of them bowed and left the room, with the last one still being quick-witted enough to close the door behind him.

"After the door was closed, Yamada Taichou looked at Muyang and said: Now you can speak, sir."

"Thats enough, this is my ID, you take a look and then Ill talk to you." Murai said as he directly handed his military ID to Yamada Battalion Commander.

Yamada took over the military ID from Muyang and carefully looked at it. The more he looked, the more shocked he became. The other party was actually from the Imperial Investigation Bureau, and at a young age, he already held the rank of Junior Lieutenant, Nobi Taichou. Could it be that he was a junior from some imperial family?

Muyangs hand disc had no problem, just like the common hand discs used by the Japanese army, but the content was shocking to Yamada Kōsuke.

Yamada Kōsuke put down the command sword on the table after the inspection, and handed back the military badge to Muyang with both hands. He also said, "Nobi-kun, Im really sorry, my soldiers disturbed you. But I dont know what brought you to this small county in North China."

"Yamada-kun, my mission is a state secret and Im not allowed to tell you." said Mu Yang with a stern face.

"Ah, its my fault, I didnt mean to pry into your business, just curiosity. If Yamada-kun is handling things here, if theres anything we can help with, I can send someone to assist."

"Over the past few days, Ive also heard about whats been happening in Ba County. Dozens of imperial soldiers have been killed or injured."

As soon as Mu Yang said this, the expression on Yamadas face changed. If such information were to be known by the higher-ups of the Empire, even if it was just a casual remark from one of them, he, a small military officer, would receive severe punishment. After all, within two days, dozens of Imperial elite soldiers had been killed or injured, which was his dereliction of duty, and so far, the perpetrator had not been found, which would be seen as incompetence by the higher-ups.

"Nobita-kun, this time it was just an accident. We will find the culprit as soon as possible." said Captain Yamada with some urgency.

Mu Yang secretly smiled in his heart, just wanting to scare you a bit.

"Of course, I know this is unexpected, but what I want to say is not about this matter. My mission is to ensure the safe transportation of those goods back to the Empire, and the Chinese military government has already learned about this news and is secretly sabotaging our actions. Thats why I came here directly to investigate and prepare to take out their special agents to eliminate future troubles." Mu Yang said with a serious expression.

"Ah, youre referring to that batch of antiques? Im also aware of this news, but the military department didnt directly notify the garrison in Ba County. As for whether theyve passed through or not, Im not clear about that either." Yamada Kōsuke said.

Muyang listened to his words and thought to himself, it seems that Qin Huaiyun and the others were investigating in the wrong direction when they came to Ba County. This guys level is too low, he doesnt know anything about those things at all. However, Muyang couldnt care less about those things, he came here to complete his own mission, not to investigate any antiques or cultural relics.

While the two were talking, Muyang had been intentionally or unintentionally getting closer to Yamada, who hadnt noticed. At this point, they were basically standing together. Suddenly, Muyang said, "By the way, I brought a seized item, I dont know if youve seen it before, but its very likely that this thing is related to those attackers." As he spoke, he pretended to reach into his pocket.

Yamada Kōsuke has come to be interested, and now investigating the attacker is his greatest desire. Suddenly, Muyang said that it indeed caught his full attention, hoping to help with his own investigation.

Muyangs hand, when stretched out, had an additional black cylindrical object about 20 cm long and 7-8 cm in diameter, not much different from a flashlight except that it didnt have the light bulb at the front, replaced by two shiny metal protrusions.

Mo Yangs hand slowly rose, and Captain Yamada leaned forward, wanting to take a closer look. Suddenly, Mo Yang jerked his hand up, and the object emitted blue sparks from its tip, stabbing directly into Captain Yamadas neck.

Yamadas team leader only felt a numbness in his body, his limbs trembling involuntarily, his whole body numb and weak, and his brain had already experienced a momentary dizziness.

Muyang fixed the electric baton on Yamadas neck and electrified him for three or four seconds before he fainted beautifully.

He shook off the electric baton in his hand. "When I bought it, they told me it was 16 million volts and could instantly electrocute a grown man. Looks like thats exaggerated."

He then took out a climbing rope from the space and directly put it around Captain Yamadas neck, tightening it with force. Possibly due to asphyxiation, Yamada Hiroshi showed signs of regaining consciousness, struggling unconsciously, his two hands weakly grasping about, his two feet ceaselessly kicking on the ground. A minute passed before he slowly stopped moving.

Muyang loosened the rope, took a deep breath, wiped away the sweat on his forehead due to tension and exertion, and directly stored the already dead Yamada Taichou into space.

Its not that Mu Yang is cruel, but rather he wants to use a more direct method to knock him out, because even if someone faints, they still have a deep consciousness, and if its too painful, theyll wake up. Mu Yang also wanted to use a gentler method, but for now, he cant think of one.

As for why he didnt use a knife to directly kill Yamada Kōsuke, it was mainly because the last time he used a knife to kill someone, he had to bother with cleaning up the scene and dealing with the bloodstains, which was really troublesome. So he thought of this non-bleeding method of killing, and on his way home, he ran into a security products store and bought this electric baton.

Another killing, and Mu Yang felt that his mentality had undergone a huge change. Gone was the tension, fear, and spiritual pressure of the first time he killed someone. Instead, he felt much more calm, perhaps it was due to his mental state being tempered, or maybe he had simply become numb.

Muyang walked to the door and took a sneak peek outside, listening carefully to the sounds outside. He found that there was no unusual movement outside, and his actions earlier should not have alerted the soldiers outside.

Moyangs guts have grown bigger, and he swaggered to the large office desk in the middle, flipping through this and that, all of which were war zone maps, tactical data, combat orders, and other useless things.

He walked to the table inside, this should be Yamadas seat, there was a very delicate official hat chair inside, Mu Yang sat down directly and said in a low voice: "The quality is not bad, it should be made of red wood and black acid branch, Ill take it away when I go back, and give it to Grandpa later."
