Chapter 8: The First Task Reward

As soon as Mu Yang thought of opening the system in his mind, he heard a distant commotion. The inn was 200 meters away from the ambush point, and during the day, it was estimated that nothing could be heard. However, on this quiet night, the sound traveled far, and he could faintly hear the distant noise standing by the window.

A few seconds later, the sound of gunfire came from afar. After a single shot rang out, the sound of intense gunfire erupted, clearly not just the Japanese soldiers firing warning shots, but actual combat had begun.

Muyang was stunned. Whats going on? Were there others ambushing the Japanese soldiers? Were they Nationalists, Communists or bandits? The gunfire finally stopped after a while.

Muyang didnt dare to make a fuss, so he directly closed the window and lay down on the bed in the inn.

No matter what the situation is now, its none of our business anyway. The more Japanese soldiers die, the better. It would be best if the Eighth Route Army directly attacked the county town.

Better mind his own business, he opened the system interface in his mind with excitement.

The first column of the taskbar has changed, "First World Opened, Task 1, Kill a Japanese soldier" with two more words added at the end, Completed, and an additional line below it reads "Task 2, Kill ten Japanese soldiers" Do you want to receive.

When Mu Yang saw the second task, his heart skipped a beat. He had spent so much effort and courage to take down one Japanese soldier by stealth, and now it had become ten - wasnt that just asking him to go all out?

Forget it, lets not think about those things for now. Lets take a look at what rewards there are instead. This is the most exciting moment after all. Isnt suffering and struggling, enduring hardships and starvation, and risking ones life all for the systems rewards?

Open the second column reward column, and there is an additional option Whether to receive rewards.

"Of course, Ill take it, lets see how my luck is," Muyang clicked to receive the reward, and then this option turned into four buttons, "Japanese proficiency, Type 38 rifle, cooking skills, open system space".

What does this mean? Hurry up and open the third column of instructions, without disappointing yourself. It says "You can choose one item from four reward items as a reward for the task."

Mo Yang felt a bit disappointed, only one reward was given, and it was a bit less. However, the system is the biggest, and he can only accept its settings. Otherwise, why play? Moreover, this system is the stupidest and simplest one Mo Yang has ever seen, and it cant even communicate. Even if he wanted to fawn, beg or act cute, theres no opportunity.

Since its a four-choice-one, Id better choose carefully. The Type 38 rifle can be eliminated, and there will be plenty of opportunities to seize it from the Japanese in the future. Although it can help me complete the subsequent tasks, its not necessary to waste the hard-won rewards. Whats the best reward? Of course, its a skill reward. This thing can enhance my abilities, which is more practical than any material reward.

Culinary skills are nothing to brag about, this is somewhat useless and doesnt help much with oneself.

The best thing is to open up system space, this is something that everyone dreams of, with or without space, you wont have to run around like a fool just to pick things up.

As for mastering Japanese, this is also very practical. Muyang is a foreign language learner, majoring in English, he naturally knows the difficulties of learning a foreign language. If he can master Japanese and be able to listen, speak, read and write like a native Japanese, wouldnt it be possible to directly apply for a Japanese major? Later on, he can get a minor degree, how exciting is that! Moreover, at this moment, if he masters Japanese, he can directly transform into a special agent, getting close to Japanese people will be much more convenient, and it will also be of great help in executing his tasks.

What a difficult choice it was, after considering for 0.01 seconds, Mu Yang chose to open the system space.

Japanese is not a big deal, I can learn it myself. The system space is an against-the-sky thing, absolutely cannot be let go of. Who knows if there will still be this options reward in the future? Theres a saying that goes well, missing out might mean losing, and Mu Yang doesnt dare to miss this opportunity.

After enabling the system space with a single click, the other three options immediately disappeared, leaving only the system space. In Muyangs mind, the functions and usage of the system space appeared clearly.

First-level system space, 50 cubic meters, can store any item except living things, time is static inside the space.

Mo Yangs silly smile, really made a fortune, this is an against-the-sky ability, 50 cubic meters, equivalent to carrying a container-sized space with him, and can be used at any time and place, absolutely a divine artifact-level existence, put things inside, after time stands still, food will not spoil no matter how long it is stored, take out weapons at any time, absolutely essential skills for home travel murder arson.

After re-examining the three system bars and finding no other information, Mu Yang exited the system interface, ready to sleep. However, his excited nerves kept his brain wide awake, not a hint of drowsiness, yet he lay on the wooden bed staring at the ceiling with a silly smile.

The first kill, completing the first task and getting a super skill space reward, more importantly, tempered ones will, making oneself no longer afraid of difficulties.

The second task is to kill ten devils, okay, Ill take it. There are always more ways than difficulties, and only by facing the challenges can one be a real man. By thinking hard, there will always be a way out. Directly entering the system interface, I chose the option to accept Task Two.

Outside was chaotic again, Mu Yang walked to the window and opened a slit to look out. The sounds of cars and motorcycles, troops running in formation, and more Japanese voices shouting loudly could be heard.

At this time, the Japanese had already reacted and mobilized all the soldiers in the city to conduct a large-scale search of the entire county.

In fact, from the time Mu Yang returned to his room to the Japanese mobilizing troops for a full-scale search, it only took less than a few minutes. It seems that the Japanese reaction is indeed swift. Fortunately, Mu Yang did not launch a direct attack on the Japanese, otherwise, with his current skills, he would have had no choice but to retreat back to modern times.

Suddenly, Muyang found that there was a figure running in the alley below the window. The footsteps were a bit staggering. Because of the close distance, Muyang only discovered this figure. If not, with the current darkness, Muyang probably wouldnt have noticed it either.

"What kind of person is this, could it be the one who ambushed the Japanese patrol earlier?" Mu Yang thought to himself. Seeing that person running with a stumbling body, as if about to fall, Mu Yangs heart tightened, that person seemed to be injured.

That man leaned on the low wall with his hands, seemingly wanting to rest for a while. Mu Yang plucked up the courage and opened the window, lowering her voice to shout outwards: "Hey, do you need something?"

That person seemed to glance up at the window, then exerted some force with his foot and directly climbed over the low wall. He grabbed the windowsill and flipped himself into the house, startling Mu Yang. This persons courage was too great; he had simply and straightforwardly run into his own room.

The man was dressed in black, wrapped tightly, and the room wasnt very bright. Mu Yang couldnt see clearly, but he heard the gradually louder shouts of the devils outside. He didnt dare to delay, and quickly closed the window to prevent being discovered.

"How are you? Do you need help?" No matter who it is, as long as they oppose the devils, they are good people and we should lend a hand to help.

He shouted a few sentences, the person lay on the ground motionless and didnt respond. Mu Yang stretched out his hand to feel the persons body, hmm, it felt swollen in his hands, was something hidden? He pinched it, the person let out a soft hum, damn, it was clearly a woman! Now he knew where he had touched.

Hurry up and let go, but cant let her lie on the floor like this, so stretch out your hand again, feel around and pick up the woman, walk towards the inner room.

"Are you hurt? Tell me so I can help you." Murong Yang attempted to communicate.

"My wound, you cant heal it. Ill just hide here for a while, and when I recover some strength, Ill leave. I wont drag you down with me." The woman said in a weak tone, her voice sounded quite pleasant despite being young.

"Within the four seas, all are brothers; if youre at odds with the Japanese, I should lend a hand to rescue you. Theres no such thing as being implicated or not."

Muyang said, putting the woman on the bed, then closed the door, and used a sheet to seal the window. He said to the woman, "Can I take a look at your injury? Even if it cant be cured, at least I can help you relieve some of the pain."

"There are gunshot wounds on your waist and thigh, and youre not a doctor, how can you help me treat this?" the woman said.

Muyang used a lighter to light the kerosene lamp, and walked towards the bedside with it. The faint light of the kerosene lamp brought brightness to the room, and the flames shone on both their faces. They looked at each other, and simultaneously let out a soft exclamation, "How is it you?"

A flash of cold light, the woman put away the dagger in her hand. Mu Yang believed that if they didnt know each other, who knows what this woman would do to him? Probably all kinds of threatening and intimidating tactics would be used.
