Chapter 134: Draining Japans National Treasury

Time entered August 1945. Originally, this was the month when Japan surrendered in history, but at this moment, Japan chose a different path from history. They had thoroughly failed on the battlefields of China and Southeast Asia, and China's war had basically ended.

In mainland Japan, the war was raging like wildfire, and the United States had become bogged down in the quagmire of war.

In a few days, Muyo will use the radio to address all nationals, encouraging Japanese soldiers resisting US attacks and encouraging Japanese citizens who dare to stand up and fight against Americans.

The US military was so enraged by Mio's actions that they finally sent out bombers to launch a strategic bombing campaign against Kyoto, attempting to kill the ordinary man, Kojima Kiyoshirou, in order to crush the Japanese people's will to resist.

A dozen B-29s circled over Kyoto's urban area, dropping a large number of incendiary bombs from high altitude. For a time, Kyoto, this beautiful city, was plunged into a sea of fire.

Unfortunately, the day after the US military action ended, Miyagi's voice came out of the radio again. "All Japanese nationals, I am Prime Minister Kuniaki Koiso, now announcing a sad piece of news. Our Emperor Hirohito was unfortunately burned to death by an oil bomb in yesterday's US bombing and has ascended to heaven."

"I urge the people of Japan, we cannot be defeated by the Americans. Citizens, take up your guns and fight to the end with the Americans, avenge the Emperor, and do not give up until death. The Emperor will protect Japan and all Japanese citizens. I, Kokusai Koku, will fight to the last moment. You will hear my message on the radio waves, as long as I am speaking, it means that I, Kokusai Koku, am still resisting the Americans. Citizens, let's fight together! As long as I, Kokusai Koku, do not die, Japan will not die."

The newly appointed commander of the US Expeditionary Force slammed his water cup to the ground in anger, this little island nation is really a lingering ghost.

Muyang knew it was time for him to leave. Japan and America would continue to be in chaos, but Muyang had prepared to return home.

But before leaving Japan, Muyang still needs to complete a few small things and make some arrangements.

Back in modern times, Mu Yang went to the mall and bought a tape recorder, one of those old-fashioned ones that are almost antiques now, it's really hard to come by.

Mo Yan wrote a dozen or so paragraphs, basically encouraging people to continue fighting and not give up. I am with you all, I am still fighting, that kind of speech.

After returning, Muyang called his secretary over, handed the recorder to him and instructed him on how to use it. He told him that this thing must be kept by himself, no one else is allowed to touch it, and every three to five days, go to the radio station to play a segment.

If one day the radio station is bombed, have him find people to organize a temporary rebuild of the radio station and continue playing recordings until the day the secretary dies.

Muyang found Nakamura Masao again, "Mr. Nakamura, how about the national treasury matter I mentioned to you before? Is it arranged?"

"The Prime Minister, sir, everything has been arranged. I personally found a bank in Kyoto and took over their underground vault. This is the largest vault in Kyoto, big enough to hold all of it." said Nakamura Masao.

"Alright, come with me today then."

"Alright, I'll go arrange for a car."

One hour later, Muryo and Nakamura Masao arrived at the Yasuda Bank Kyoto branch, which had by then been completely taken over by the Imperial Guard Division.

Two men walked down the familiar corridor and came to a huge safe door. Nakamura Masao took out the key, unlocked the safe door lock, and then two soldiers came up, laboriously turning the winch, which finally opened this alloy large gate with a thickness of more than one meter.

Moyang and Nakamura Masao walked in, and Nakamura Masao introduced on the side: "This is the original national treasury's storage of 620 tons of gold. This is the stored Japanese yen banknotes. On this side are currencies from other countries, including British pounds, US dollars, and rubles. Everything from the national treasury is here."

Then he whispered, "Over here, it's what we gained on Christmas Eve when we acted, and I brought it with me when we retreated to Kyoto."

Muyang took a look at the dozens of boxes piled together. It seemed that these guys had gotten quite a few things done that night.

"Please go out first, I want to stay here for a while. Also, close the door, I want to think about some things quietly."

Nakamura Masao didn't suspect anything else and thought that Muyang was worried about the current battle situation of the empire, so he hurriedly obeyed and left.

The large iron gate was slowly closed, but the pulley was not locked. Muyang saw that there was no one here and directly crossed back to his own home.

He originally wanted to move everything in Japan's national treasury into his own home, but now it seems he is actually afraid that so much gold would collapse the floorboards of his house.

It seems that we need to find a suitable place to store these things, what to do, can't just buy a house by ourselves, but even if we pile them up in the house, it's not safe either. For a moment, Mu Yang was really worried.

It seems that I must establish a stable rear base for myself in the future, and it is likely that I will get more things, can't they all be like this, hiding from east to west? I need to have a stable rear base.

But for now, Muyang can only make do with this temporarily.

I looked it up online and found that banks only rent out small safe deposit boxes, which can't hold that many things. Renting a warehouse is mainly not insured, this thing is quite troublesome.

Mu Yang put on a T-shirt and 7/8 pants, stepped into sneakers, and came to the courtyard of the residential area. Mu Yang thought that if he could rent a house in this community, of course, it would be best to have one with an elevator.

The small district of Muyang's family is an old dormitory area, with only six floors and no basement. If it's on the first floor, there's no problem putting as much stuff as you want.

"Granny Liu, I'd like to ask you something."

"What's the matter, speak up." Liu Nainai sat on a folding stool at the entrance of the residential area, with a red armband on her left arm, which read "Anpingli Residential Area Coordinator" in yellow characters.

"Do you know there are houses in our neighborhood for rent?"

"What's wrong with you, kid? You live in a place over 100 square meters by yourself and still think it's too small?"

"No, I have a classmate who wants to rent in our neighborhood, isn't it close to our school?"

"Yes, many people have put up listings online for rent, and there's also that small door at the entrance of our community where they handle house rentals. Many in our neighborhood are registered with them, you can just check."

"Really, thank you Grandma Liu. By the way, does Xiaoguang come often? I haven't seen him in a long time." Xiaoguang is Grandma Liu's grandson and is of the same age as Muyang, they used to play together when they were young.

"Don't even mention it, he went to Northeast China for college. Now, he says he's working outside during the summer break, but what kind of job is that? The rent from these few houses at home isn't even enough for his tuition, and he's still running around with his girlfriend. Your uncle Liu and aunt came to see me a few days ago, I told him on the phone to hurry back and bring his girlfriend to meet grandma too, right Xiaoyang?"

"You're absolutely right." The old lady just wouldn't stop talking, so Muyang hastily bid farewell and left. He went out of the residential area to take a look at some houses for rent.

He was quite lucky and found a rental on the first floor of a building, with easy procedures. The landlord didn't even show up, and the rental company handled everything directly. He got the keys to the house that day. Then he found a locksmith company and had them replace the anti-theft door lock with a new one.

There was a bed and table and chairs in the room, but it still felt empty. In Muyang's space, there were still a lot of things left. He first put these things on the side and then directly teleported back to Kyoto, Japan. Muyang became a diligent little ant, using his space to move things away and putting them in the rental house. After several trips, Muyang finally moved all the things to his own home.

Looking at the large and small boxes piled up in the rental house, Mu Yang felt a great sense of accomplishment. This was all money, several hundred tons of gold, enough for him to use until he died.

As for those antiques and whatnot, because of the different time and space, if you take them out now to sell as antiques, it's possible that people might recognize them as fakes. Actually, sometimes antiques are said to be very valuable, but in reality, they're not worth anything at all.
