The Prairie of Forgotten Dreams having been transformed into an arena, buzzed with anticipation. Loki, Hermes, Coyote, and Sun Wukong watched as the divine spectators arrived. All anticipating the delightful chaos.
The audience appeared with unique flair. Pan, the wild god, burst from a grove of trees that sprang from the earth while bringing forth the earthly smell of forests. Cupid fluttered in, scattering heart-shaped petals that vanished like fleeting desires. These whimsical entrances set the stage.
Momus and Kami-Musubi positioned themselves for prime interviews.
"Pan!" Momus called, his voice laced with sardonic curiosity. "Pray tell, what brings you to this grand spectacle?"
Pan grinned, his eyes twinkling. "Ah, the promise of delightful disorder! And perhaps a rare bloom or two."
Cupid, smelling vaguely of milk with his bow slung casually, fluttered closer. "And you, Cupid?" Kami-Musubi asked, her voice gentle. "What draws you here?"
Cupid winked, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Love finds its playground in the unexpected. Besides, when else do gods race golf carts?"
Next to arrive was a procession of mesmerizing beauties, each captivating in her own way. Cleopatra on a lavish litter adorned with gilded accents, exuded regal command. Helen of Troy, radiant as the dawn, seemed to hold the gaze of all who beheld her. Lilith followed with an aura of untamed mystery. The mischievous Kitsune glided forward, her presence both alluring and playful. Morgan le Fay, cloaked in an air of arcane power, carried an elegance that felt otherworldly. Titania, shimmering with the essence of the fae moved as though the very earth danced beneath her feet. Finally, Aphrodite, embodiment of love and beauty, arrived in harmonious splendour. Each beauty bringing a lovely scent that spread across the arena.
"Cleopatra, a word?" Momus asked, his tone dripping with scepticism. "Your thoughts on this… unusual event?"
Cleopatra smiled, her eyes sharp. "Every spectacle holds intrigue and I intend to savor every moment. And frankly, watching gods at play is endlessly amusing."
"Helen," Kami-Musubi asked, her voice warm. "What excites you most about today?"
Helen laughed, a melodious sound. "The delightful unpredictability, of course. Who knows? Perhaps a new legend will be born."
Gods and creatures from every pantheon gathered which caused a ripple of chaotic energy to spread. Giants with their earthly smell lumbered while seeking seats fit for their stature. The earth literally booming with their footsteps. Dwarfs and elves darted, each vying for the best views. “Hey! That’s my seat! Go elsewhere you pointy-eared tree-hugger!” One obnoxious dwarf was heard shouting. Trolls, goblins, and cyclops jostled, adding to the delightful pandemonium.
"Look at those giants trying to squeeze in," Momus remarked, chuckling. "A divine game of musical chairs."
"And the eager dwarfs and elves," Kami-Musubi added, her voice filled with gentle amusement. "Their dedication is quite charming."
The Valkyries swooped into the arena on their winged steeds, their presence commanding respect. Vigilantly, they settled into strategic seats.
Among the growing assembly of divine figures, Taibai Jinxing – better known as the Old Man of the Stars – stood out for the precision in his every movement. His piercing gaze scanned the seat before him like a celestial inspector ensuring the stars were aligned. His OCD causing him to inspect and then inspect his seat again. Finally, gently dusting off an invisible speck, he muttered under his breath, “Heaven forbid a creak at an inopportune moment.” Satisfied at last, he adjusted his robes and settled with the decorum of one accustomed to scrutinizing the very cosmos.

Hades, the brooding lord of the underworld, made his entrance in a swirl of shadows and a faint chill that seemed to dim the surrounding light. His sombre gaze swept over the scene with detached indifference as though he carried the weight of eons on his shoulders. But before his gloom could settle fully, his eyes fell upon an unexpected sight – a small, fluffy kitten batting at a stray thread. His stern fa?ade crumbled in an instant, replaced by a rare smile as he crouched down, cooing softly and offering a skeletal finger for the kitten to paw at. The other gods looked on in stunned silence, unsure whether to laugh or marvel at the sight of the formidable Hades utterly charmed by such a delicate creature.
"Hades," Momus asked, a sly grin on his face. "Here for the race, or the… critters?"
Hades looked up, his stern expression softening into a gentle smile. "Both, it seems. Even amidst chaos, there is always room for a touch of… cuteness."
Mars, the god of war, arrived with a commanding stride. His Armor gleaming as though freshly polished for battle. His piercing gaze swept across the gathering, keenly assessing each god and deity, as though anticipating the faintest flicker of discord to erupt into conflict. He stood tall, arms crossed, exuding an aura of unyielding strength and readiness for action.
Meanwhile, Tang Sanzang, the serene and ever-loquacious monk, approached with an air of calm purpose. Draped in his saffron robes, he clasped his hands together, his expression one of gentle curiosity. Wasting no time, he began addressing anyone who would pause to listen. He continued weaving poetic metaphors about the spiritual significance of unity, competition, and divine cooperation regardless of who he was speaking with. His voice, soft yet persistent, carried a curious mix of wisdom and idealistic zeal that drew some to listen – and prompted others to edge away in search of quieter pastures. Helen of Troy even tried to convince him to bring his sermon to the giants.
Finally, the chief gods arrived, each heralded by their unmistakable splendour. Zeus descended from the heavens in a chariot wreathed in crackling lightning, his every movement sending electric currents racing through the air. Odin, his solitary eye gleaming with ancient wisdom and a sharp, calculating interest, materialized in a swirling tempest of runes and ravens almost colliding with Zeus descending. Ra emerged as a living sun, his blazing form casting golden rays across the prairie turned shadows into fleeting memories. Vishnu appeared enveloped in an aura of serene celestial energy, a symbol of balance and eternal harmony just in time to have his shadow banished by Ra. Amaterasu stepped gracefully onto the scene, her radiant light soft and warm yet commanding reverence, as though the dawn itself had come to bow before her. The Jade Emperor descended last, shrouded in a billowing cloud of golden mist. Exuding a calm, imperial authority that resonated through the very fabric of the realm, the Jade Emperor imperiously moved to his seat.
As they settled into grand seats, each subtly observed the others… calculating advantages.
"Zeus," Momus asked, his tone respectfully probing. "Your thoughts on this… race?"
Zeus smiled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "A diverting spectacle. Let us see how they fare."
"Odin," Kami-Musubi began, her voice thoughtful. "What do you make of this gathering?"
Odin's single eye gleamed. "An opportunity to observe and learn. Every event holds its lessons."
Nezha and Bacchus took their places in the announcers' booth.
"Greetings, gods and goddesses!" Nezha's voice boomed. "Welcome to the grandest, most chaotic event – the ultimate godly race! Prepare for a thrilling show!"
"Wiiine!" Bacchus stumbled, his goblet swaying. "Revel'ry! Surprishesh, chaozh, an' 'course... wiiine!"
"Indeed, Bacchus!" Nezha chuckled. "A diverse and lively crowd. Valkyries, Pan, Cupid, and the enchanting women!"
"Chief godsh, hidd'n plosh!" Bacchus mumbled, leaning closher. "A rache for th' ages!"
Cameras panned the crowd. "Stay tuned!" Nezha announced. "The participants arrive soon. Chaos awaits! Who will claim victory?"
"T' chaozh, laffter, an' an'forg'table rache!" Bacchus stammered, his goblet held high..
The audience roared, their excitement reaching a fever pitch.
