chapter 18

The first three layers have been created. Now the 4th layer. This layer widens to 110 kilometers in width, from the 50 of the 3rd. I wanted to add coral like structures to the roof for adventurers to climb on. Also using gravity source crystals to reverse water. Making it so that adventurers can swim upside down in it.

But I don’t have coral yet. I make at least the water and crystals, then I made the source crystals wane and strengthen. Creating a tide that slowly changes the water level on the roof. Now let’s add an emergency quest for my creature collectors.

  • Any coral and coral like plant/creature – 200 gold bars and high affinity creature part per lifeform. Request as soon as possible.

  •

I added it to the list. I totally forgot that I needed coral for this layer. Well then while I am waiting for the coral let me see what the next floor requirements are.

  Floor 2 progress

  • Have a pathway from the entrance to the core. The size of which must be the size of the circumference of the core. (finished)

  •
  • Have 000 or more maximum mana (finished) (390.674.249.246 maximum mana)

  •
  • Donate 100.000 mana to the world (unfinished)

  •
  • Have 10 different flora (finished)

  •
  • Have 10 different fauna (finished)

  •
  • Created a boss arena (unfinished)

  •
  • Created a floor boss (unfinished)

  •
  • (optional) have at least 8 adventurers reach your core and exit (unfinished) (reward: 1 plant pattern)

  •
  • (optional) create 25 pit traps (1/25) (unfinished) (reward: +1% mana from life)

  •
  • (optional) get 10.000 mana production (finished) (52.425.181. mana/h)

  •

Huh? I have made 1 pitfall trap already? Wait, does the pit itself count as a pitfall trap? I mean if some one falls into it they will die. And the floors themselves are traps for adventurers. Strange, but I am not going to complain. Now creating 24 more pitfall traps. I can make the best ones in the forest. So I make 12 pitfall traps in the jungle. Each with wooden spikes, the spikes are the roots of trees.

Then I put 8 in the first layer hidden by grass, or hidden by rocks in some crevasses. And the last 4 I put in some crystals. By making a thin layer of crystal, that will break if someone walks over it. Then they will either fall through the crystal into the abyss or on some sharp crystal bits.

The rest of the requirements are the same as the last floor, just more. I donate the mana easily, for I get that mana in around 10 seconds. The pit and the gate to my core is 18 meters at least. I definitely have enough maximum mana, it probably scales with regular dungeon size. Forcing the core to make the dungeon a certain minimum size. The 10 different flora and fauna had already been done in the layers I already made.

The boss and boss arena will be created at the end. The most annoying one is the one were 8 adventures need to go to my core and back. I can kind of cheat it by giving some a free ride to the core. But I am not certain if the system would allow that.

I will have to wait until a stronger adventurers squat comes. Preferably a mountain climbing party. Even then it will probably take a few months before they get to the bottom. And then even longer before they reach the exit, if they make it.

The tidepool of water on the roof slowly dissipates over time. So lets create a plant that produces water on the 5th layer. Let me modify ferns into something that can hold water. I first made the stem more wood like, and made them twist into each other. Creating a dense spiral pattern as a trunk. The trunk was still green. Then I made it so that the leaves grew in a certain way to create a cup like shape at the top. Water tight so it would only leak when it over flows. I gave it [superior starforged petals] to give it the resilience to hold its weight.

It made the plant look shiny, like an emerald. The texture and flexibility should look and feel the same as a normal plant. The cup was only 50 centimeters deep at the deepest and around 30 centimeter on average. If I made it deeper it would collapse, some did.

I then tinkered with [lesser water-mana heart] and [lesser fire-mana heart] to create [lesser fire emitter] and [lesser water emitter]. These traits let excess mana be converted into water and fire. I gave the cup fern the [lesser water emitter] and a algae the fire version. Letting the cup produce a decent amount of water in its cup. I put the algae in the cup water making it that they would only survive in these cups. The water in the cups heated up, creating steam that entered the tide pool above.

The steam also climbs through the layers until the ice crystal ring. Where it condenses and becomes ice or water. Creating many ice spikes that fall off. The water in the cups wasn’t boiling hot. The algae being only very small and having a low mana production, made the water around 60-80 degrees Celsius. So it might burn you, but unlikely.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

  [lesser water emitter]

This trait gives the ability to produce water out of excess mana

  +50% water from mana

  [lesser fire emitter]

This trait gives the ability to produce fire out of excess mana

  +50% fire from mana

The cup ferns size varied a lot. The biggest they can get is 500 meters tall, before they collapse. Most are around 50-200 meters tall. The trunk being around 10-50 meters wide. The cup on top being around triple the with of the trunk, with the tallest cup ferns cup being over 300 meters. Being that big makes it very unstable, so most at that size are slanted and empty of water.

To clean these giant plant I need a solution, a plant dissolver. But I don’t have traits that give me acid yet. Only traits that make something more toxic. I could overexpress a creatures stomach acid production and “plant” them in this layer. But I think that would be a bi cruel. If had the chimera trait I could just put a stomach on plants, that then would leak acid.

Time to put a new request in the HYPER MUTATION CHAMBER, for a acid producing trait. I really need to diversify my traits. To prepare the floor for acid I made more stepped pools. I have used this pool type a lot. It is the best way to hold water on a slanted ground. Most of the pools are empty, except a few who are filled by the cup ferns.

I cant really create more creatures in here, for I don’t have acid resistance traits yet. But I can create life that lives on the cup ferns. Most cup ferns grow close enough to climb or jump to the next one. The creature shouldn’t be too big or else the smaller cup ferns might fall. And it also needs to be able to jump far or fly.

The only creature that fits this criteria are the raptors. I can make their wings bigger to let them glide between the cups. So I did, I made then slightly smaller than the ones in the whispering field. Only 3,2 meters tall. I did make them lighter to help gliding, so they can be knocked away easily by stronger adventurers.

I made them white-blue in color, to help them hide in the steam. I gave the raptors [Lesser paralyzing Saliva], [Enhanced Agility] and [greater gigantism]. Letting them be quick and paralyze adventurers, for storage. I gave them instinct to paralyze and take adventurers to their nest. Giving other adventurers the ability to rescue them, but most likely the raptors are just going to eat them alive. I made them create nest in the spiral trunk of the cup ferns. They make a hole in the middle of the cup draining the water. Then they make a nest in the spiral below that. The entrance is raised to prevent water from going in the nest.

Now that I think about it, how are adventurers going to get up the cups. Some can be accessed via climbing the spiral trunk, if the top is damaged. And by getting on one form the 4th layer. So I took some of the algae and gave them the ability to hang form the tops of the cups. I made them strong enough to carry a lightweight sapient. So if they grabbed several they could climb up. I gave the hanging algae bioluminescence in purple color. I also placed some with [Toxic leaves] with only minor differences. Grabbing these wouldn’t kill you, but will sting and irritate the one grabbing it.

Well enough placed here for now, the water problem needs solving now. When the acid starts to pour form this layer it will enter the 6th later. Creating acid rivets and pools in the flesh. Depending on the acid it might either pour straight trough or create a barrier. Causing more rivets to be created.

In this layer many new corpses have been placed. Some being the fire beetles and firekelp. The kelp being cut and then flows into the river until it fall down the cliff. Over 20 adventurer corpses have been deposited here, most look like they died from drowning. Surprisingly there are some amphibians in here. Maybe they died by someone throwing a rock? Or they just died of natural causes. Seeing a giant cup fern appear in this layer I stopped the rule from targeting big plants.

Since a fallen giant is a biome on its own. One cup fern can stay in here. Most of the creature corpses here are very malformed. Probably the ones that died in the HYPER MUTATION CHAMBER, strange mutations have appeared. There is a snakerat with 37 legs placed all over its body, covering its eyes and several legs on each other. Most of those legs wouldn’t work. Surprisingly this specimen seems to have lived for a while. It has scar tissue somehow. Enhanced regeneration maybe?

The amount of corpses is astonishing, tens of thousands. Most being 2-5 meters big, with some exceptions for creatures over 80 meters big. Most of those died of heart failure, but some didn’t. some have maybe [superior gigantism], or better! I shall be patient until I get everything I need in a months’ time. Letting the HYPER MUTATION CHAMBER do its thing in that time span. Now what type of puzzle shall I make to let the adventurers pass into the 7th layer.

Hmmm I think animated skeletons with a key part in them would do. I added that to the chamber as well, hoping for a way to animate skeletons. I put a lot of skeleton in the chamber. For now I just created 3 skeletons. One being a drake, one being a badgers and one being a flying bladesnakes. If a adventurers group makes it and finds them before I animate them, they may take it.

On the gate I wrote “to pass this gate one must find the key of bones. One being the heart of a dragon, one the resilience of a badger and one flying on a blade.”

This should be good enough of a hint, right? Either way I added a few new ideas to the chamber and started watching adventurers for a until I get coral or a month passes. I truly wish to see how far they can get in the second floor. If they get there that is none have reached the 1st floor boss yet.
