The crowd disperses after the Dean's speech ends, and as the crowd thins, I find my way over to Toa. The first thing that helps me spot her is her horns ; three curving crimson spikes that protrude from her forehead like a regal crown. Her hair falls in layers down her neck, like an ashy waterfall that catches the attention of anyone looking at her. Her amber eyes lock with mine, and a smile splits her black lips. Her hand lifts from her side to wave me over.
"Mon! I'm over here!" She yells across the yard. I walk over towards her and we collide in an embrace. "How are you?"
"I'm ok, Toa," I say dryly. "Are you joining any Gaeluatas this year? I know that Le Gaeluata de Hemolr would be more than happy to accept you after that stunt with those Humans that you pulled last year," I chuckle. Toa had become a legend last year among our Daemon community in Berdonia after she had manipulated two small human gangs to go to war and wipe each other out. How did she do this? You see, Toa is a Blood magic user, with the sanguine subset. That meant that she could use her energy to give effects to her blood, affecting anyone who drank it or had even a small bit of it in their blood stream. Toa had spiked the water supply of two small gangs, making them have an all out battle to the death because of the aggression amplifier she had added to her blood. They had had a grueling turf war for 2 days, ending with only three total survivors in both gangs combined.

"Personally, I'm not gonna," Toa said, "because I doubt the Le Hemolrs would respect the whole 'No Gaeluata wars' rule with me on their side. I don't want to get expelled, or my parents would disown me." I knew that that was a fact. If Toa wasn't perfect, her parents would disown her so fast you would think that they knew by telepathy. I wouldn't put it past then, though.
Me and Toa walked and talked. We talked about our classes; how we hoped that the History professor wasn't as cruel as school stories made him out to be. As we continued our aimless stroll through the grounds, a person caught my eye. He had the eyes of a Zeneth, but not the perfectly chiseled face of one. He had a soft sort of handsomeness, without the hard lines of that sickening angelic perfection. He had long locks of platinum hair that dipped just below his collarbone, and an ethereal aura that radiated from his soul. For a long moment, I just stared, stared, and stared some more at his beautiful face. Not the beauty of a perfect Zeneth, but that of a Harbinger, most likely. He stood next to a huge Zeneth who had a beautiful contrast between his golden eyes and dark skin. They walked by, and I realized that Toa was trying to get my attention.
"Mon, what's wrong? I don't pull that 'No, nothing' crap because, as your betrothed, I've been around you long enough to see when you're bothered," Toa nagged. She starred into my dark eyes with something akin to concern in her face, but not quite reaching her eyes. It never did. It had never needed to. I had never needed anything other than a false smile and a few "comforting" words. But for once, something was wrong. For once, I didn't know what to do. Because I had just fallen in love with a boy.
Want More Chapters from Mon's Perspective? I'm already planning on doing a couple more of these, but should I make this a regular occurrence?
