I was pretty excited when I got to the party in my new red and white dress. Both Lucia and Ange complimented it though I chose not to tell them how I got it. At least not for now. Not that I had done anything bad but still...

  I walked around talking and mingling with a few students I recognized from my csses. I had lost May shortly after arriving, hopefully she was doing alright. I heard cheering at some point and walked over to find some people doing body shots, well at least they were having fun.

  Not surprisingly I saw Lucia keeping an eye on things, which of course meant more body shots for people. I walked away and found a cute boy to talk to, at least I think he looked cute. With the masques everybody looked a little better though so it was a little hard to tell.

  Eventually though I found May again, she was standing off in a corner with Ange. "Hey everything alright?" I asked and May blushed looking away as Ange giggled "why yes. Well more or less."

  I looked from Ange to May and back again. "I'm sorry I know I should be having fun" May said. "Don't apologize, fun isn't mandatory" I responded a little awkwardly. I wanted May to have fun, but I knew I couldn't force her too.

  "It's just people at these parties love to chat and flirt and..." May blushed as she paused. "I'm no good at that stuff. I couldn't flirt with people in my hometown... There was nobody really like me..."

  Ange frowned and nodded seeming to understand, I for one was a little confused. "Nobody like you? I mean yea I guess it's hard to look as killer as you do" I said. Ange giggled and May looked at me with a mixture of concern and warmth.

  "No, I don't mean that" she said softly. "I um... Well I don't really have any interest in men..." I blinked and May looked at me as though expecting some harsh reaction. "Well yea that much was obvious I said."

  Ange ughed and May opened her mouth in shock "excuse me? I try very hard not to make it obvious!" I couldn't help but shrug, I guess maybe I was just so used to how open Lucia was with enjoying both men and women that I forgot other people might take issues with those sorts of details.

  "May you were practically drooling when you saw Lucia naked and having fun but the moment you realized it was with men you basically lost all interest and ran away. Not to mention how you act about women being naked around you. It's not exactly a very straight reaction."

  May's cheeks flushed red as she pyed with her fingers "was it really that obvious?" Just then Lucia came barreling over practically tackling Ange in a hug. "There y'all are! I've been looking for ya!"

  Lucia then looked over at May and frowned, standing tall and walking over. "Hey love, everything ok?" She spoke softly with genuine concern in her voice. Lucia was always very big on making sure her friends were happy and having a good time.

  "Yea sorry, it's just..." May started but then stopped and looked at Ange as if asking her to expin. "May doesn't really know how to mingle and she's not interested in mingling with men" Ange quickly summarized.

  "Pfff, men are st years news anyways" Lucia giggled as she took May's hand. "If I may, it would be an honor and a privilege to introduce you to some of my other friends. No need to flirt, no need to sleep with anyone. But it might help you to be with other's who have shared your story."

  May blushed seeming at a loss for words and I smiled as I leaned in. "I'd go for it. Lucia does know a lot of people." May looked at me and seemed to calm down, an easy smile returning to her lips.

  "Thank you" she said to everyone and let Lucia guide her away. I leaned by the wall next to Ange as I watched them go. Lucia was chaotic on a good day, but I knew she took these things very seriously. She would take good care of May.

  "I'm gd she's getting along well with everyone" I said out loud and Ange chuckled. "Might be getting along better with some than others. She was trying to figure out how to talk to someone when you came."

  I looked over at Ange with confusion "who?" I asked and Ange just chuckled. "Sorry, but I promised not to say anything. Besides she's in Lucia's hands now. She'll be alright."

  I nodded agreeing whole heartedly, though I remained curious who May was trying to talk too. Oh well, if May wanted too, she'd tell me. Best I can do is be supportive.
