Chapter 5. - The Tamer faces the Goblin King.

The Grey Goblin King felt shivers run down his spine, before quickly clearing the debri on top of him off of him and standing back up. Jack, before the King could do anything, appeared in front of the King – having moved so fast, the King had not been able to even see his afterimage.

"What is—?!" His thoughts were interrupted by Jack pummelling the Goblin King in the stomach, sending the tall and slender creature flying away – through all the houses and towers that this tribe had created – and crashing into a stone wall on the other side of the cave.

The Goblin King struggled a bit, getting back onto his feet, looking towards Jack with a much more nervous expression now. "What is happening..? The Human... He grew stronger out of nowhere..."

The Goblin King thought, before Jack flew at him with immense speed. The King barely managed to react, blocking the hit that Jack had thrown at him, however feeling the bones in his arms crack from the impact of Jack's punch. The creature shed a cold sweat, before quickly pushing Jack back, before proceeding to grab the man at his waist and smashing him into the ground.

"Don't fuck with me! A mere human cannot—!" He was about to start punching Jack, however as soon as his first punch hit the ground, the Goblin King's eyes widened in horror, as he realised that Jack, who he had smashed into the ground just moments prior, wasn't there.

Then, before he could react in any way, Jack pummelled him in the side of his face, sending the Goblin King flying again. Before the creature could land, Jack dashed after him, quickly appearing behind the falling beast and punching him in his back, shattering the creature's spine.

The Goblin King coughed up blood.

"How is this possible?! J-Just what is this human?!" He thought, as he flew up and crashed straight into the ceiling above — shaking the entire cave and causing stalactites to fall down.

A moment later, the Goblin King himself fell down, crashing into the ground with a heavy, heavy thud — a couple of stalactites falling onto him, alongside with some light debri.

The Goblin King breathed heavily, his vision slightly blurring as Jack's heavy, yet slow footsteps echoed in the cave.

"How is.... How is this possible..?" The Goblin King thought, trying to catch his breath. "This human... He was so weak just moments prior but now... He's so much more powerful..."

As Jack's footsteps grew closer and closer, the King tightened his hands into tight fists, before letting out a loud shriek – one that was enough to shake the entire place and force Jack to cover his ears. "I refuse..."

The Goblin King thought, slowly and weakly rising to his feet, as an immense pressure was sent through the entire cave. "I refuse......"

The Goblin King looked at Jack with rage filled eyes, before jerking his body back and unleashing an even louder shriek, only this time, targeted at Jack. "I refuse to die..!" The King shouted in his mind. His body was surrounded by a black aura, which then turned into black flames that spun around him, creating a small tornado that reached to the ceiling.

Jack watched with an intrigued expression, smirking a bit, as the orange aura around him intensified and grew even stronger.

  [ WARNING ]

Grey Goblin King has activated 'Monarch Transformation'.

  Proceed with Caution.

  [ WARNING ]

"Monarch Transformation? Oh I get it..." Jack stood up, straightening out his back and smirking a bit. "This is the part where the 'boss' gets a power up."

The black flame tornado spun for a few more moments, before the Grey Goblin King sliced through it with sharp claws, showcasing his new form. He was much bulkier now, an almost black obsidian, lava like armour shell around his body, with pulsating violet veins going across his body. His head looked more demonic, with large, longhorns stretching out above him.

His hands were now replaced by razor sharp looking claws, which were even longer than a longsword. Lastly, he now sprawled a tail, at the end of which was a sharp, purple, crystalline orb – that emitted an ever so slight glow from it.

"Human," The creature spoke, its voice much, much deeper now and more demonic – while at the same time, sounding like he was speaking through a helmet. "Time to die."

Jack took a more battle ready position.

"Try to entertain me." He stated. The Goblin King roared loudly, before dashing at Jack, who scuffed and dashed at the King as well. The two collided midway to one another, before beginning a large-scale exchange of attacks that wrecked what was left over of the tribe's camp.

The sharp claws that the Goblin King now wielded, really showed how sharp they were. They even tore through stone, like it was paper — it was clear, one mistake on Jack's end, and he was a goner. Even a single slice from these claws was guaranteed to be fatal.

"Not bad..." Jack commented, launching himself at the Goblin King after a moment of brief distance between them. The Goblin King slowed his motion, before dashing at Jack and suddenly vanishing mid air, before attempting to slice Jack apart from the side. Jack quickly reacted, stopping his move and flipping around, before catching the Goblin King's hands and kicking him in the stomach. The Goblin King was pushed back by the kick, however, remained unscathed.

"Tch — Seems like that exterior shell isn't just for show..." Jack shed a small sweat. Even with the power boost he was getting from 'Combat Experience' and 'Battle Hungry' – he was not managing to pierce that tough hide that now covered the creature's body.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"Guess I just gotta keep the tension up. The Magical Energy that armour around him being exerted, must be his that he is using to maintain this form." Jack thought, before launching himself at the creature again. The Goblin King remained calm and simply blocked his kick, before knocking him back a bit and throwing a slashing attack towards Jack, which the man dodged just barely.

The two began exchanging blows once more, sending a powerful force of air all throughout the entire cave.

From afar, Araneida weakly opened her eyes and looked towards the intense fight. The arachnid watched, as her master struggled to do any real damage to the Goblin King, while the grey creature was only getting closer and closer to landing a lethal slash on Jack.

The spider tried to stand up, but immediately collapsed again.

"Must help... Master..." The Arachnids' thoughts slipped through – written all over her expression. The spider forced herself to stand up, before slowly and wobbly making her way to the large stone sword that the Goblin King had carried before. If Jack's punches and kicks weren't having an effect on the creature, then perhaps this massive weapon would prove to be more effective.

Araneida collapsed at the blade, while Jack leapt back at the destroyed building, where the Goblin King's throne was at, looking at the creature nervously, before dodging an incoming attack from it, and then blocking several slashes it threw out at him, with his arms. "This is not going well at all..."

  Araneida looked worried.

Any moment now, her Master would be potentially wounded fatally and would not be able to receive any help down here.

The Spider rose back up onto her feet, picking the sword up a bit with her fangs before trying to get her master's attention – however her shrieks were overpowered by the roaring of Jacks and the Goblin King's fight that continued on. The arachnid grew more and more distressed, continuing to shriek to try and get Jack's attention, but to no avail.

  She collapsed once more.

Jack was sent flying by the Goblin King, who then released an earthshaking roar.

Jack landed somewhat halfheartedly, before breathing a bit heavily and looking at the Goblin King with somewhat blurring vision. He could feel 'Battle Hungry' slowly losing its effect. "Come on now... This is ridiculous.." He thought, falling to his left knee. "Maybe... I underestimated it?"

Jack added, as the Goblin King launched at the man, his claws wide open – about to slice the man apart. Finally, Araneidas shriek managed to catch Jack's attention.

The large stone sword flew towards Jack, who quickly caught it by its handle, flipping around and grabbing out a small healing potion, popping it open and drinking it quickly, before blocking the Goblin King's strike just a split second later.

The creature's eyes widened, while Jack's aura intensified and the orange flames coming from his eyes grew stronger. A Devious, confident grin appeared across Jack's face.

"Peekaboo, ugly face." He stated, before pushing the Goblin King back, and using the sword to knock it back even further – as if he was holding a large baseball bat.

  [ WEAPON ]

  'Black Tombstone'

  Rank: C

A Heavy sword crafted from Black Stone – a rare mineral that is harder than obsidian. This stone does not crack or break easily and is quite tough to work with, however, when crafted into a weapon, it can be devastating.

This weapon allows its wielder to perfect block attacks.

"You had this kind of thing in your possession?" Jack chuckled, resting the large sword onto his shoulder, while the Goblin King, grasping his stomach, stood back up and looked at Jack with nervous, yet furious eyes. "No wonder you called yourself a 'King'."

The man commented. The creature looked at him angrily, before shrieking. "You are not worthy of wielding that blade!"

The Goblin King launched at Jack. The Tamer smirked, taking in a deep breath, before gripping the sword's handle with both of his hands and taking a defensive position. As the Goblin King closed the distance and began his flurry of rageful strikes, Jack used the sword to parry every single one of them.

None of the Goblin King's attacks could break through Jack's now perfect defense. His stance combined with the sword's unique trait, made it that he was basically guaranteed to perfectly block and counterattack each attack that the Goblin King threw at him – no matter how strong it was.

The creature continued to launch strike after strike, trying to tear through the man's defense and hit him, however none of his attacks could reach the man's body – or even get close, before they were blocked by his own weapon.

"Parrying him is nice and all... But can I even damage him?" Jack thought, continuing to maintain his defensive position. The Goblin King grew even more agitated, before leaping back and unleashing an ear piercing roar. Jack used this opportunity to close the distance between him and the creature, before taking his chances and swinging the blade at the Goblin King with as much force as he could put into the swing.

The creature blocked the swing with his right arm, however the force Jack was applied, supplied with the sheer force exerted with the weapons blade, made it enough to shatter through the Goblin King's armour on his arm – which shocked the creature. Jack smirked, before using this moment of shock that the Goblin King had, to strike him in the chest and send him flying back.

The creature flew into the wall and before it could get up, Jack leapt at it, smashing the sword down at it. The Goblin King just barely managed to catch the sword's blade, stopping it from slicing him in half. The Goblin King shed a cold, cold sweat while his hands shook, holding the blade.

Jack was putting in more and more force into the sword, pushing it down. He placed one of his hands onto the blunt blade of the sword, before exerting even more pressure, the orange aura around him intensifying so much – it overpowered the one exerted by the Goblin King.

The creature's fear began to build — its entire body began to tremble.

"I don't... Understand... Who is..." The Goblin King's eyes widened. "Who is this monster?!"

  The creature exclaimed.

Standing over him, pressing the blunt sword down onto him, wasn't a human. It couldn't be. The flaming orange eyes, the demonic grin of joy, the aura surrounding this... thing — It was inhumane. It was monstrous.

  It was demonic.

It was like he was facing off against a Greater Demon.

After a struggle, Jack finally exerted enough pressure and broke through the Goblin King's grasp, smashing the sword into his chest — shattering the armour, before letting go of the blade and delivering a finishing blow to the now exposed chest of the creature, finally – defeating the beast.

  [ NOTICE ]

Grey Goblin King has been defeated.

  [ NOTICE ]

  You have levelled up.

  [ ALERT ]

Jack breathed heavily, stumbling back away from the Goblin King's body, the intense orange aura around him subsiding and the flames from his eyes dissipating. It seemed like 'Battle Hungry' got disabled. Jack breathed a bit heavily, sweat drops falling from his face.

"Man... I am exhausted..." He muttered, before turning away from the Goblin King and slowly walking over to Araneida, who was weakly laying on the ground. Falling to his right knee in front of the spider, Jack gently brushed his right hand against the spider's head, the arachnid letting out a happy squeal.

"Thank you Araneida, had you not thrown the sword at me, I would have probably died." Jack smiled. The Spider nodded lightly, resting its head onto Jack's knee. The man smiled, taking out another healing potion and pouring it into the mouth of the arachnid.

After a moment, the arachnid looked at him with a more lively expression.

  [ NOTIFICATION ]

'Araneida' condition has stabilised. Rest is recommended.

  [ NOTIFICATION ]

"Oh don't you worry..." Jack sat down, before resting his back against a small boulder behind him, looking up at the ceiling. "I intend to rest after that..."

My computer broke down and I was unable to write anything for this story or my other story at all.

There will be a poll to this chapter - and it is a simple question. I would appreciate if you could vote in it.

Would it be better for the Grey Goblin King to...
