The Kiss That Changed Everything

Henry had tried to bury his feelings, to pretend that seeing Millie with Lucas didn’t hurt. But every smile she gave Lucas, every laugh she shared with him—it chipped away at Henry’s heart.

That night, after game night, Henry couldn’t sleep. The words “Yeah… you do” kept playing in his mind.

So when Millie texted him, asking if he wanted to go for a late-night walk, he said yes.

  A Walk Under the Streetlights

The streets were quiet, the soft glow of the streetlights casting a golden hue on the pavement. Millie walked beside Henry, sipping on the iced coffee she had insisted on buying for them.

"You’ve been acting weird lately," she said, nudging him playfully.

Henry let out a small chuckle. "Define weird."

Millie stopped walking, turning to face him. "Like… I don’t know. You seem distant. And I don’t like it."

Henry hesitated. He could keep lying, keep pretending. But a part of him was tired—tired of hiding, tired of pretending he was okay.

He took a deep breath. "Millie, can I ask you something?"

  She nodded.

"If someone had feelings for someone… but they knew that person liked someone else, what do you think they should do?"

Millie frowned, thinking. "Well… if I were them, I’d probably confess. Even if it hurt, at least they wouldn’t have regrets."

Henry let out a breathy laugh. "Yeah… that’s what I thought."

Millie tilted her head. "Wait—Henry, are you talking about—"

Before she could finish, Henry took a step closer. His heart was racing, his hands slightly trembling, but he didn’t care.

"Millie," he said softly, "I like you. I have for a while now."

  Millie’s eyes widened. "Henry…"

But before she could say anything else, Henry leaned in.

  And kissed her.

It was soft, hesitant, but filled with emotions he had been holding back for so long.

When he pulled away, Millie stood frozen, her lips parted in shock.

Henry took a shaky breath, his voice barely above a whisper.

  "I’m sorry… I just—"

Millie didn’t move, didn’t speak. She could only stare at him, her mind spinning.

Because in that moment, everything changed.
