*Carlisle's POV
Before I got close enough to see them, I heard a growl and Elizabeth unched at me. I managed to catch her hands but she was stronger than me. Not that I wanted to get away or fight her. "Elizabeth..." She knocked me to the ground. Once she recognized me, she froze and corrected herself from saying my name like the first night. I longed to hear her say it. "Why don't you call me by my name, love?"
Elizabeth breathed in and closed her eyes, leaning down to me. While her intoxicating sweet scent of honey enveloped me, I couldn't help but be fascinated by my little newborn mate. She was gorgeous. I chuckled when she purred my name, taking deep breaths of my scent and rubbed her cheek against my skin. She was adorable as she couldn't control her impulses and I longed to feel her more.
Jasper cleared his throat, reminding me that there are more pressing matters. It seemed to have startled Elizabeth and she quickly stood up, looking embarrassed as she tried to make more distance between us. I was fully aware that we needed to expin a lot to her and that she needed to quench her thirst as soon as possible, but I spent st three days regretting that I let her run from my room and I wasn't about to continue.
"I already let you go once. I'm not letting you run away from me again." I pulled her to me by her slim waist and kissed her. I meant to only get a taste of those full lips that I denied myself the first time I had her in my arms but when she pressed herself to me as our lips moved in harmony, I didn't want to let go of her. Mine...
Sensing it, Jasper coughed again. "Carlisle, we're too close to the town and Ell should hunt." As much as I didn't like it, he was right and I gently ended our kiss. "Sorry Ell, but you have to be patient for a little bit." Continued Jasper, confusing me, while Elizabeth made a face at him but didn't say anything. "Right." He smirked at her, folding his arms and I realized that she was talking to him using telepathy.
It's really true. That was one thing I didn't doubt, but seeing it first hand was something else. I couldn't help feeling a bit jealous and curious about what she told him. "Can you two not leave me out of the conversation, please?" I told them and Elizabeth suddenly tensed, reluctant to face me. Jasper's expression grew worried as he watched her and I remembered what he told me. When he found out about her ability, she despised it and was scared that anyone would learn of it. "It's alright, Ellie..." I tried to reassure her. "Look at me, love."
He was right when he called her unique. She truly was and I was happy to have finally met her. I've been waiting for you for so long... All the people who pushed her away, for how special she was, were idiots and I swore to never make the same mistake they did. "I just can't help feeling being left out a little, over here..." I admitted when she finally met my eyes.
Jasper started expining to her about our heightened emotions and that it will be really hard to control her instincts for a while, when he suddenly looked frustrated, looking at me. "Carlisle... not helping."
"Hmm?" I wasn't sure what he meant and looked down at Elizabeth. Her eyes, now of the same crimson as was her hair, were looking back at me while she was biting her lip and I wanted to kiss her again.
Jasper gave a sigh and pulled on her shoulder, moving her further away from me. "You're... distracting her too much." He said when I shot him a warning look. Elizabeth looked down, somewhat embarrassed and I understood. Although, that knowledge made me want to touch her again.
When she was worried about feeding because she didn't want to hurt anyone, I reassured her that we don't hunt humans and she frowned in disagreement. "But Edward drank my-" An angry growl erupted from me at her words. He not only tried to keep my mate for himself, he really did want to deceive us and put the bme on Jasper when it was himself who bit her.
Elizabeth crouched, looking frightened. Getting a hold of myself to not scare her further, I gently embraced her and apologized. I needed to hear what exactly happened from her. If she remembered it.
"Rosalie mentioned some Bel and that I'll end up like her." She started. I knew about that and I would have a few more words with Rosalie ter. "I remembered the name because Edward called me Bel when we first met so I asked him about her. He wouldn't answer and when he tried to hug me I got angry. Jasper helped me keep it under control but then Edward did something to my arm..." She looked at her perfectly healed arm. It all must have been very confusing to her. "And before I even realized that he moved, he was drinking my blood..." She was distracted by so many things since she woke up but now, talking about blood, I could see that she became aware of her thirst.
"We need to move further away from the town. Now." Jasper said, confirming my suspicion and I nodded. I ran ahead to lead the way while Jasper stayed by her side. "Not a good idea, Ell..." I heard him say when we were almost where I wanted to take her to hunt.
We were far up in the mountains where it was very rare to come across humans. Elizabeth was about to pass me so I caught her but she wasn't paying attention to where she was going and we fell down a steep hill. Even though she was stronger than me at the moment, I instinctively pulled her into me to protect her as we fell.
"Sorry..." She mumbled an apology. "You smell like the sea and sunshine..." Elizabeth whispered, taking a deep breath as she leaned down to my neck. There was no doubt that we belonged together. It made me smile. As a newborn vampire she couldn't very well hide nor fight her instincts. I couldn't suppress a groan, feeling her lips trace along my neck. "Why do I...?" She breathed out an unfinished question.
She didn't need to finish it, as she kissed my neck. I knew what her instincts were telling her. I felt the same. Even though Edward's mark on her wrist irritated me to no end, I didn't want to cim her until she had a chance to understand how much her life had changed and what it meant. Feeling her fangs brush over the spot, though, I could not find it in me to stop her from ciming me. On the contrary. "Go on, love..." I heard myself say, longing to be hers.
However, before she could do it, a different one of her instincts took over. We heard it at the same time. There was a mountain lion nearby, its heart beating loudly. "Don't worry, your instincts will lead you." I reassured her when she lifted into a crouch but gave me an uncertain look, once she saw her target. "Close your eyes and focus on the flow of its blood." Elizabeth slowly moved towards the animal. She hesitated before jumping and it noticed her, baring its teeth at her.
The animal was almost bigger than Elizabeth. Seeing the cat swing its rge paw at her, I moved to help her but Jasper stopped me. Its cws could not hope to mar her skin but I couldn't help my urge to protect her. "I doubt that a vampire can get a headache but you two will surely cause me one." He uttered with a smirk, clutching my shoulder.
Once Elizabeth was finished with the cat, she straightened up and with a strange expression examined herself. "How... am I ok?" Her top was stained with the animal's blood and torn up as the animal scratched at her but her body underneath was untouched.
Jasper beside me chuckled. "You call that ok? If you didn't hesitate, it wouldn't have a chance to ruin your clothes."
In an instant, she stood in front of him. Fire in her eyes. "Well, excuse me Mr. Hunter. Did you see the size of that thing?" She growled. So sexy... Crossed my mind.
That made him ugh harder while I took off my jacket and pced it on her shoulders. "Wait till you see Emmett hunt. His favorite are bears." He told her.
"B-Bears?" Ellie's eyes widened. Then she thought for a moment. "Well, the guy is himself huge as a bear." She concluded. "But I wasn't talking about my clothes..." Elizabeth continued in wonder, looking down at herself again.
"Our bodies are nearly unbreakable. The only thing that can truly kill us is fire." I expined.
"Oh... But... you guys really don't hurt people? You eat animals?" She looked at me with hope and I smiled at her, nodding. However, my smile disappeared at her next question. "Am I really stronger than Edward now?" She asked, obviously afraid.
I bit back a growl and took her hand in mine while Jasper spoke up. "Yeah, you are. You could easily kick his ass. On one condition. I'll help you. I'd beat him already but others believed that I attacked you-"
"What?! You're the one who protected me!" Elizabeth excimed.
"And you protected me. Thanks by the way." Jasper smiled and his eyes darted towards me.
Elizabeth didn't miss it. "I did? What?" She looked at me with suspicion.
"I'm sorry for doubting you, Jasper." I felt bad for letting anger cloud my judgement. "What was I supposed to think when Edward said you attacked her? You didn't really try to defend yourself either."
"I didn't see a point. Would any of you believe me if I told you that it was Edward's doing? Not that you gave me a chance to say anything. If Ell didn't stop you, you were ready to beat me on the spot." He shrugged. Then he quickly turned to Elizabeth. "Hey, hey, it's-"
Before he could finish his sentence, Elizabeth pulled her hand out of mine and punched me. Unaware of her strength yet, she gasped and stared at me in shock when her hit sent me flying a few feet backwards. "Carlisle...I..." It hurt, but I quite deserved it.
"It's alright, Ellie." I slowly walked up to her and gently held her petite hands. "I've made a mistake. Both of you have the right to be angry with me. I'm really grateful that you protected her, Jasper."
"You were not kidding, were you?" She looked down at our hands.
"It will take a bit of practice to handle your own strength. You might find the most basic tasks like opening the door difficult at first. But there's no need to worry about a few broken things if you do. We all had troubles at the beginning." I tried to reassure her and Jasper chuckled.
"Just don't set him as an example." He motioned to me. "His self control is beyond normal."
"What do you mean 'at least until he met me?'" Asked Elizabeth, curiously tilting her head as she turned to me. "Wait..." She frowned. Me and Jasper exchanged a look.
"Ell, how did you hear that?" Jasper questioned.
"I dunno. I was just focused on you, trying to figure out what you meant by that his self control isn't normal."
"Hmmm... I think that your telepathy is more than just a one way communication."
*Elizabeth's POV
So... if I focus on you, I can hear you back? I tried to repeat what I did a moment ago. "I think so. Can you?" Replied Jasper. "Wow, it really works!" Jasper's eyes darted to my chest and he frowned in confusion.
"Ell, is that a birthmark?" He asked and I looked down. My birthmark with the shape of a crescent moon on the side of my left breast could be seen through my damaged top. "Yes. I vaguely remember mom saying that all-"
"-women in our family had it." We finished in unison with Jasper, looking at each other in shock. "No way! I used to have a little sister while I was still human but I never met any of my retives after Maria turned me... not that I looked for them. But to think I'd meet one after so long..." I couldn't believe it. Jasper wasn't only my best friend, he was really my family. I was so happy I hugged him.
At first he hugged me back but..."Ermm Ell... ouch." He gave a painful chuckle.
I quickly let go of him. "Sorry." I giggled. It was weird to be so strong.
"That might expin why you didn't have such trouble around her." Carlisle said thoughtfully. "Since she's of the same blood as you."
Jasper's phone beeped and whatever message he got, made him worried. "Something must have happened, Alice wants us to come back."
