113. Chapter

  -From the perspective of Nizzal-

After the others mao calm down, and somewhat accept the presence of a horde of small deadly looking critters running about, we came to the on uanding, that we have wasted enough time for now, and decided to release Lily’s small swarm into the tunnels which were surrounding us in every dire. While doing so, we decided to remain in pd wait for the zergs to do most of the work, as her one of us wao blindly run into another bunch of tuk’ata.

It was without question the safest pn we could go with.

Lily easily accepted our pn, which surprised me.

I was a bit worried that she wouldn't like the idea to only risk her newly born brood members in such a dangerous endeavour. Luckily, my worries have proved to be baseless, as she didn’t seem to sweat about it at all.

That was what led to our current situation, which was for once, pleasantly b.

Meanwhile, the situation on Corust was everything but b.

  -From a general perspective.-

Tremendous explosions shook the ground around their improvised barricades. Dust and broken gss pieces were flying through the air as nearby buildings shook uhe endless barrage of psma beams. The voy of troops led by Master Windu has reached their goal.

They already ihe spaceship ptform, which was big enough to allow evetleships to nd on it safely. The only problem was that shortly after their arrival, they met with such fierce resistehat it seemed borderline impossible to go any forward, not to mention taking back the nding ptforms.

The droids have set up their defense line a lot quicker than anticipated. All this was making Windu’s already temperamental character beore and more annoyed.

A few minutes ago he was still parrying a series of psma beams while leading the charge of a group of troopers, in a brave attempt to pierce through the enemy line of defense.

All that to be foiled by a partially colpsed building that couldn’t handle any more damage aually crashed down, blog the rht in front of them.

At first Windu thought that it was but a ve act, at least for the droids, but her friend, Mevu, quickly pointed out that she heard sounds of trolled explosions rising from the building’s dire just before its side colpsed over the road.

That made things clearer. The droids must have pced some sort of explosives on the buildings side, to block their path if they came close to pierce through their line of defehat also meant it was more than likely that they pced simir explosives at other pces as well.

That meant going around and trying a different street to push ahead was out of the question. But what other choice they had? The soldiers could likely climb over the debris that stood in their way, even under heavy fire, but ning the walkers, more specifically AT-TE’s with them, was nothing short of suicide.

A hand dropped on his shoulder while he was immersed in trying to find a way to go forward. He turned sideway and gred at the bith who was interrupting his thoughts.

  -What is it?

He asked with a bit of annoyance leaking into his tone.

-What is what? Aren’t y to clear our way, Mace?

Windu straightened his baewhat, swallowed back his flickering anger, and said.

-Yes, I am trying to do it, or at least find a solution that will allow us to get over this obstacle. Obviously…

The bith woman seemed satisfied with the answer, as she pced her left hand over her hip, and stated with a nont tone.

-That’s good. It shows that we are like-minded. Now get ys under you and help me clear the path.

Windu raised a pair of surprised eyebrows hearing that. Still, he stood up and followed Mevu, if a bit hesitantly. Naturally he didn’t miss the ce to give voice of his doubts.

When they finally stood in front of the colpsed building part, he turowards Mevu with a questioning gaze and asked sarcastically.

-And what now, my esteemed friend? Are we going to lift this? Even in my best years, I would have struggled to achieve such feet and those years are long behind me if you haven’t noticed.

To his surprise, Mevu turowards him with a cheeky grin and said.

-Close enough, but not quite there. We won’t have to lift all of this after all. We will only push aside enough to make a ve road for the walkers, not eveioning that unlike in most of your life, Mace… This time, you are not alone!

Windu was without a doubt surprised by the unforeseen jab towards his social life, but unlike he would usually do, this time he only shook his head and said with an amused smirk, sneaking onto his lips.

-Says the one who just came back from a thirty year long voluntary self exile. This just shows that you were never good with self analysis; it is safe to say that the long years have also failed to resolve another one of your undesirable traits that your master endlessly struggled with. In a futile attempt, but that goes without saying.

Mevu looked back at Mace with a haughty expression, while waving in a disregarding maowards him. Without much pause, she readily ented.

-Hmm, just as I said earlier… Some things never really ge… just like your temper.

  -… Like you-…

-Now, enough of the chit-chat… focus your mind to overe this obstacle!

With that, Mad Mevu started to manipute the force, with all their tration, helping one another when the need arose. It was a very tenuous exercise which required immense focus, patiend trust betweewo partits. Especially as it was o be done otlefield.

Their ued as quickly gaihe attention of the nearby troops, causing the soldiers that were hiding ihe buildings and among the various ruins out of sight. Now they began to peek out of their hiding pces as a sensation of awe silently took over them. Your average soldier, aside from the es, has rarely withe for a, especially in such magnitude. It was a miraculous sight.

It didn’t take a lot of time until some of the younger soldiers started to cheer for the two jedi w in a seamless tandem clearing the road which cut them from the enemy’s oint.

Strangely enough, right about this time, the endlessly barreling ser shots ing from the other side of the barricade stopped and an eery stillook over the now silent battlefield.

A few minutes went by while the two masters worked, eling the force through their bodies, bending it with light but powerful gestures as they allowed it to flow through their very being. A road have began to form between the piles of endless debris, while perspiration covered the jedi’s body from the inhuman exercise.

Many would have given up by now, as the work was far from done.

However, these two were different. They were stubborn and weren’t willing to accept defeat in such a way. Oh an explosive aura, and another surrounded by fickle pyfulness. Their preseurally emboldening each other to finish what they started.

More minutes went by in such a manner, and after an excruciatingly long time, the st piece of debris had been pushed to the side. A way had beeed in the sea of ruin, which allowed the soldiers and their heavy walkers to pass through, pletely taking the droid armies in the fnk.

Said droids were in the middle rouping and marg over to a different location, clearly not expeg any more danger from this pce. They have only noticed the strange phenomenon a few seds ago, and now were standing by, trying to analyze the situation and find the best course of a.

It was the best possible sario to happen for the republic soldiers. A one sided massacre quickly began and the republic troops cut through the surprised droid forces like a hot khrough butter.

A powerful strike has been delivered against the droids. However, the armies of the republic were still far from taking back the main nding ptforms, but they were now fighting a different battle. A winning one.

Mevu smiled with a satisfied and tired expression. Her body was drenched from the exertion, just as her old friend’s was. Still, she straightened her bad smiled, while looking at the quickly pushing forward soldiers and the scattering droids. She would never admit it openly… but it was refreshing to use her powers with such freedom and meaning behind it.

She naturally enjoyed her life in her self procimed exile, otherwise she would have stopped doing it a long time ago, but it was still b at certain times. The ck of panionship was one of the hardest to endure. She couldn’t help but became excited to meet with such a dear friend and work with him together.

Once again, after so many years.

She looked at Windu sideways, notig that his gre also followed the attag soldiers, who were in a high morale after witnessing their deed, as the usual sense of annoyance was o be seen now.

His face was calm, peaceful even. It was how he was. A man who spoke clearly through as, while almost always struggling to properly express himself with the tender use of words.

Windu moved slightly, and the two pairs of eyes met.

He shook himself, ging bato the harsh leader which everyone was used to seeing and stated.

-We should go, the battle is hardly wo.

Mevu only nodded, accepting the words. Both of them joihe marg troops soon after.
