“Bright lights burn the retina, and time twists the nerves.” - Averick Tellings
Chapter Fourteen:
I woke up feeling slightly disoriented. I wonder why? I looked around The Room, and everything felt slightly out of pce. Why does everything feel so wrong? Suddenly, I heard a loud crack and the wall opened up like a door, and someone passed through. He was a man, young, roughly twenty years of age, wearing a white b coat stained in some red liquid. In his hand he held a small bck device, that The Book called:
a weapon incorporating a metal tube from which bullets, shells, or other missiles are propelled by explosive force, typically making a characteristic loud, sharp noise.
A gun.
The man looked at me and ughed, a deep throaty ugh. I stood frozen, my thoughts speeding through my brain like a bullet train.
“You look even stupider than I would imagine. What, are you tired and groggy because I woke you up in the middle of the night? Oh, poor baby. Let me feed you some yoke and meat and almonds and beans. Wouldn’t that be nice. Hahaha! You fucking idiot! You bumbling moron! All you do all day is loll around like a fucking balloon, flouting about until you bump into something. You’re like a fucking child! This dumb experiment made you crazy, and ruined my life! Hahahaha! But don’t you worry, now, I will kill you, like I did to the others, and you won’t have to live in misery ever again. Isn't that what it said would happen in the page? That you would die early and be free of your unknown misery? The page that ruined my career and destroyed my life?! Yeah, now the words of the prophet are going to come true. Close your eyes little one, and try not to quiver as I blow your brains out with a bullet to the head. Good day and good luck, as my now dead superior used to say. Good day and good luck.” The man said, and then raised his gun to my face.
I heard a light click. Then, the world turned white.
