Chapter 2: Culture, Reproduction and Offsprings.

Dragons suffer some of the same problems most long loved races have, where reproduction is a difficult affair and population is hard to increase.

In a dragon’s case, their reproduction problem comes in two steps.

When they are strong and already smart, they suffer the same difficulty to produce offspring as most long lived / immortal races do, and no, they can't just fuck their beastly counterparts, Mana already made too much changes, trust me, they tried.

When they are still Beasts, their mating seasons are violent affairs and the fruits of said seasons are left to fend for themselves.

Most ‘Immortal Dragons’ get their offspring taking in an abandoned egg, adoption exists as a practice, even if frowned upon by other dragons.

You have to remember, they are notoriously selfish and competitive, even with kin, even their own eggs, a ‘Immortal Dragon’ may be smart, but they still carry those same biological traits that are baked in deep.

It takes a lot of time, introspection and willingness to change for a Dragon to overcome those instincts, and why would they ? They are ‘Immortal Dragons’, they have no reason to, no pressure to change.

The only instances of ‘Immortal Dragons’ changing before they get killed, are those that Live for so long, they gain enough wisdom to see the error of his ways, or those that have external circumstances applied to them, like being raised by another Race, from Egg to ‘Immortal’, a daunting task that caused many wars, for a ‘Immortal Dragon’ protector is a blessing many kingdoms are founded upon.

And Kobolds are notorious as a Race for raising many Dragons throughout history, their symbiotic relationship with dragons makes the task that little bit easier as to give them the leg up they need, because most of their societies are just as cut-throat as the Beastly Dragons they raise.
