Li Wei woke to the sound of the menu.

A soft smile curved his lips. He had nearly forgotten about the first quest that appeared when he was reincarnated into this world.

Even now, he struggled to distinguish between his life as Alex Carter and his life as Li Wei. The Dual Memory perk granted him a complete recollection of both, eighteen years each, two lifetimes seamlessly intertwined. Sometimes, he felt like a foreign soul inside a foreign body. Other times, he felt like both lives belonged to him equally. Two people. One soul. Thirty-six years of memories.

The memories of Alex Carter were bright and warm. Loving parents. A clever older sister who always had his back. A mischievous little brother who adored him. Friends who stayed loyal. A life full of light and love.

The memories of Li Wei were colder, harsher. Born the son of a greedy, corrupt, lecherous nobleman in a grim and violent world. A father who did not care about his children. A dead mother. Half-siblings who sneered at each other in the daylight and poisoned each other’s tea in the dark. A world of betrayal, greed, and cruelty.

But he had chosen this. When the grim reaper gave him a choice, he had not asked for peace or comfort. He had asked for purpose. He had asked for power. This grimdark world gave him that, and the cheat system gave him the tools to shape it.

He had survived a week in this body. Eighteen years as Li Wei, but only seven days with his memories of Alex Carter included. Seven days with the Reincarnator's Insight, with perspective, with the full knowledge of the system and the fire of a new beginning.

  Now he had a class.

  Warmaster.

It reminded him of the Rakshasa warmaster. A warmaster was not just a commander. He was the soul of the army, the leader of the clan. Someone whose very presence on the battlefield energized and empowered his soldiers. A presence that turned cowards into warriors, that made broken men stand tall and fight. Someone who inspired loyalty and could easily get others to follow him into battle.

  Stolen story; please report.

And it was not just leadership. The warmaster was the strongest of the clan. The one with the highest stats. The one with access to the strongest magic. A warmaster was strength and strategy combined. The blade and the brain.

Li Wei pulled up his stat sheet.

"Intelligence, Charisma, and Agility are still my highest stats," he said to himself thoughtfully. "How do I cheese this? How do I maximize my potential as a warmaster?"

He had Swordsmanship, Fire Affinity, and Fire Magic. He could certainly handle himself in a fight. But one man alone cannot change the world. He can light a fire, but he cannot bring light to this broken world alone.

What he needed was to build his clan, like the Rakshasa warmaster had, and lead them to battle. Not to raid, torture, rape, pillage, and burn like the Rakshasa did, but to save the weak and to inspire hope.

He stood and dressed in silence, fastening his sword to his side. The scent of sandalwood from the harem still clung faintly to his robes. He let it stay.

It was time to visit Master Chen.

The old eunuch looked up from a thick tome when Li Wei entered the archives. A slow smile spread across his wrinkled face, his spirits still lifted from the generous gift he had received the day before.

"Ah, young master," he greeted warmly. "How can I help you today?"

"I need a list of Rakshasa sightings, attacks, and raids. Compare them to topographic maps of the region. Mountains and cave systems. I want to find the closest possible den near the Li estates."

Master Chen blinked. "You mean to hunt the Rakshasa again so soon, young master?"

"Yes," Li Wei said with certainty. His tone was firm, his eyes calm. "My father has named me his first sword, the general of his armies. I intend to act the part. I want to clear out another Rakshasa den. Find their warmaster. Kill it. Take what treasures they have hoarded."

Li Wei remembered the role-playing games he had played in his past life. The games Alex Carter once played.

His next quest would be clearing a dungeon.
