Epilogue

“Welcome to Dubai, Airla. I suppose you had a comfortable flight?” The handsome Arab man asked, whose name turned out to be Zayed, thanks to Kurenai’s knowledge of him once we were told where we were going. I had done all the crying I needed to do on the flight, the tears stopping once Japan became a speck in the ocean and Azrael came to me with a box — and note, from Kazu.

I should’ve had the balls to do it while you were still with me, but I had to keep my promise to your dad. I know this isn’t ideal, nor will it be the only time I’ll ask you, but at least let it be the first.

Marry me once this is all over.

Until then, carry my name proudly because it is yours in this life, in the next one and in every one that we’ll be in.

I love you till the day my soul feels the need to cease anymore.

Azrael was kind enough to open the box for me, a beautiful red diamond ring in the center. Emerald cut, with a white gold band that if looked closely enough, had an engraving of an infinity sign; a clear indicator of this amazingly tender love that I was blessed to have. Smiling, I took it proudly and placed it on my ring finger; not a word needed to be said for my answer to be known.

Smiling at Zayed, I rubbed the band of my newly adorned finger.

“I did and please, call me Mrs. Nagatsuchi.”
