Hands, feet, and nothing surrounding me.
I’m nude and floating.
Wait… I’m falling, but very slowly.
No speeding up, no slowing down.
Just falling.
Or everything is moving up.
What is moving up? Orbs.
Strange orbs, with things in them.
What do they contain?
I don’t know.
There’s also a wall.
A large brown wall of darkness.
In the direction away from the wall is an expanse of blue.
How odd.
The wall.
If I grab onto it, will I be able to stop my descent?
I dont wish to hit the ground.
I grab onto one of the balls, it follows me, but it seems to have a force preventing it from going too far.
In this ball is… a piece of pizza?
I grab onto a second ball, pulling myself closer to the brown wall.
This ball has a small stuffed animal, a wolf.
Grab onto the next ball, check what’s inside, repeat.
As I get closer to the wall, I notice my descent stopped after I grabbed the first ball.
Huh.
Eventually I get to the brown wall.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
I move my hand to touch it, but hesitate.
It’s a bit too smooth, and blue seems to be breaking out from the other side.
As I press my palm against the brown wall, some of the brown stuff rushes towards my hand.
Huh.
I poke it, and each time something similar happens.
Weird.
Where exactly am I?
This is the first time since I awoke that I can think.
I seem to be in a space with orbs and a brown wall.
The orbs filled with things.
What am I?
I look down and find myself; still nude, and still human.
I look back to the wall.
It’s sticky.
I can crawl on it though.
It’s quite easy, there’s no gravity, so I can just pull myself up.
I get farther and farther up.
It seems futile, until I see a strange change in the wall.
It’s an opening.
I move myself towards it and find more blue expanse.
How disappointing.
I try to reach through the hole, but find myself caught on something hard to see and slightly gray.
When I do, a piece of the brown stuff moves to my hand.
The wall seems to be a membrane.
Interesting.
I continue moving up, although I may have gotten turned around at some point.
Eventually I reach another hole, but it has strange moving things.
These things, they remind me of cells under a microscope. Life?
I press one and it stops moving.
Is it alive? Did I kill it?
How terrible.
But if this is life, why is it so flat?
Is it flat life?
2d life?
If so, why am I here?
I move farther up, following a series of holes.
Eventually I reach something, some type of long hole.
A 2d tunnel probably.
I follow it farther and farther up, taking a break every few minutes.
How long have I been here?
There’s no way to really tell time.
My guess is a few hours.
Eventually, I reach some type of surface.
Hmmm…
Could this be a 2d planet?
If so, good thing I stopped myself when I did.
Could have ended up near the center, never know this is a 2d plane with some type of planet.
There seems to be more life.
It’s all so strange.
Some things seem like tumble weeds, some almost like trees, some like mushrooms.
Also, a lot of blob things with stubby legs to help it roll.
But, I can see inside things.
The structures remind me of micro-organisms, with a bunch of organs.
This feels like looking at a micro-scope, but a bit bigger.
The things seem to be the size of my hand.
So small.
I use the wall to move farther away.
It’s strange, only some objects move to my hands, and some don’t.
Its mostly rocks, no life seems to.
I wonder why that is.
This wall is really interesting.
I move myself a bit farther, and find a very perfect square.
Well, perfect on the outside.
Some parts let a little of the blue expanse out, some none at all.
Could this be the density effecting my view of the blue expanse?
Hmm.
I grab onto this square, and move it up.
It follows my hand, and then I drop it on a tree thing.
It’s crushed and falls apart, sharp pieces of what’s inside stick out in shards.
A few pieces of the square have embedded themselves in the object.
Slowly, a few organisms seem to wilt at almost the same time, from right to left.
How strange.
Suddenly, I see some faster organisms moving from the right to left as well.
They are have weird arm-like things on a lot of their body, they stick out and then come back in.
This allows them to run over many things.
Why are they moving so fast.
Oh.
It seems some other organism is moving from right to left after them.
It looks like a tumble weed, but has little tentacle things the stick and slither around the structure, breaking and then placing the pieces back together.
I follow the chase, occasionally causing a tremor in the ground when I touch a rock which likes me.
Eventually, the prey blobs find a hole, take the rock off and jump into the hole.
They climb down, sticking their appendages into the wall as they roll down.
It’s really quite interesting.
They seems to have bones that they can stick out, the membrane of their body covering the bones even as they apply a lot of force outward.
Maybe the membrane, or skin, is really strong and stretchy?
Whatever the case, It seems they have a cool cave.
What are they doing underground?
