Legacy I

  Legacy I

A small piece of leather is rolling along the floor. The leather is from a red coat wrapped around a man roaming the cobblestone streets. A group of children runs past him, playing with what seems to be a small ball. Made out of small cotton strings each one sewn together. One of the boys kicks the ball, landing right beside the feet of the man.

" I'm sorry." One of the children spoke out.

The man kneels and grabs the ball with his left hand. In a quick fling, the ball lands right back into the hands of the children. The man continues his journey further into town. Folks are selling small goods and food items. Different pieces of otherworldly technology are passed around among people. Holograms appear from the palms of individuals. Transactions are carried out by waving their hands or simply staring at each other. The market is very busy today, the upcoming holiday must be an excellent opportunity to start maximizing profits. The man heads through the crowd of people. He crosses paths with a hood figure. The figure out of him reaches toward the small pocket in the coat. A metal blue arm emerges from the right of the figure snatching its hand before they could even realize it. The man turned his head towards the figure and spoke very lightly.

“It would be better to just ask me. You don’t want to lose your hand right?”

The man lets go of the figure’s hand and quickly runs away, tripping on a rock wise doing so. The man goes into an alleyway out of the public. He enters a door beside one of the buildings. A small bar filled with different groups of individuals. He blocks their appearance as they have no importance to them. He pulls out a half-broken wooden stool and sits on it. An individual from behind the counter calls out.

  "Blaire?"

  Chapter 1: Blaire.

The man takes the leather hood off of his head. He was revealing a very tan-skinned man underneath it. Blaire plays with his robotic hand for a bit.

“I know you hear me. I found some work for you”

  “Amount?”

“I haven’t even told what you're doing yet?”

Blaire removes something from his pocket. A small bag of diamonds.

“It better be worth more than those, Fred.”

Fred takes one of the diamonds and examinations it in his hand. He gives a nod toward Blaire.

  “Yeah, these look legit, however.”

Fred squeezes the diamond in their hand. A cracking sound comes from his hand.

“They're fragile. Only an idiot would buy these from you.”

Blaire rests both of his arms on the corner in front of him annoyed at the information Fred gave him.

“I’m tired of telling you to stop getting shit from those merchants. Well, it seems you have no choice now but to take my offer.”

Fred pulls a smile on his face wise grabbing something from under his table. He hands Blaire a map.

  “Transport?”

“Yuuup, they want you to carry to them to-

Blaire holds up his hand cutting off Fred’s words.

‘“They? I don’t carry more than one person you know that.”

“Their willing to pay extra for it. Also, their kids. It shouldn't be that hard to carry them across Tyze.”

“Yeah, I guess the watchdogs won’t be difficult to take care of too…."

Blaire gets up from his seat and sits to leave.

“250 KATS. That’s how much they're paying you.”

  “That’s below average.”

  “It’s what they could afford.”

“This is another one of your favors, isn’t it?”

Fred flips an item to Blaire. He catches it and places it in his pocket.

“They’re around back. Go easy on them ok.”

A wooden door creaks open. Blaire slowly enters the room looking around its surroundings. Blaire takes notice of one of the small toys on the floor. He puts it up, and his hand gets stopped by something. Caught off guard by it, Blaire used his mechanical arm and pulls the small teen onto the floor.

  “WAIT!”

“Sorry… you happen just to scare me.”

Blaire helps the boy up to his feet dusking him off. Upon closer examination, the teen looks very young.

  “Are you Blaire by chance?”

"Yes, um I assume you are?

  “My name is Magami.”

A large bang leads Blaire to quickly walk towards an old closet.

“Sorry, that's my sister. Makami, you could come out now.”

Makami peaks out of the room staring Blaire down from head to toe.

  "That's him?"

She opens the door fully letting herself out.

"Why were you hiding in the closet?"

"We were told to stay out of sight…"

Magami moves from Blaire and stands next to Makami. Resting his hand on her shoulders.

“Well, as you can see. This is my sister, Makami."

Makami gives a small wave to Blaire.

"We need help getting across the Tyze Border."

“I’m not the type to question, but why exactly?”

“My sister is suffering from a disease. No doctor in Lyze can find anything about it. So, from some sources. There’s a doctor in Faldorin who has the research to try and diagnose it.”

  "What's wrong with her?"

Magami grabs his sister's arm to shows a line of weird marks. Blaire slightly turns his head at Magami piercing his eyes into the boy’s soul.

“Hmm and, how do you know that? I’ve been around Faldorin a lot. Never heard about a doctor looks into mysterious diseases.”

Magami looks away from Blaire, not wanting to make eye contact. Makami holds onto her brother’s hand.

“Can you help us or not. We are paying you.”

"Not so fast. I am putting my ass on the line here. How do I know your 'X' disease hasn't already affected you or me?"

  “It’s not…. I can’t tell you exactly. However, it isn’t anything contagious"

"Or he would have spots too." Makami cut in.

Blaire walks towards the two examining Makami. He can’t see anything noticeable on the two

"The trip is five days long. We'll be walking half of the time. There's at least two hyper trains rides on the way, and a small village on the way. If we move during the morning we’ll be able to avoid anything crazy.”

“Can’t you just take the airlift?” Magami asked.

“That could only take you so far, and besides. Let’s just say, I can't put my face anywhere, and I'm sure you guys don't have a passport ,so that's out of the question."

“Whatever you could do to get me and Magami there as fast as possible will be nice."

“Alright, just one thing however. Stay close to me. Got it?"

The wind blows sand onto an old gas mask. There’s nothing that can be seen in the distance just a huge rush of dusty wind. Blaire opens his hand and a hologram appears on it. A voice comes from the device.

  “Storm clearing soon.”

Blaire closes his hand and continues walking. Magami taps the back of Blaire.

“Can we rest? My legs are hurting?”

Magami crouches down on the ground.

“It's been three hours since we left. It's not that far from here. Hang in there."

Blaire takes off his gas mask. He removes his leather scarf as the storm clears up. There’s a small city in front of them. Blaire signals his hands for them to follow. Arriving at the gate, a group of soldiers stops the party.

  “Search Party.”

One of the soldiers circle around the group. Magami pulls his younger sister towards him.

"Hey, Tie. You're scaring my clients. Mind calling your boss."

"It's a protocol thing. Plus, public image is important for us, Blaire. Eqopzi! Your boyfriend is out here.

  “Stop...”

A soldier wearing a helmet walks out. She points behind herself.

“Let them pass. This asshole still hasn't gotten me my nice dinner.”

"Nice to see you haven't forgotten about that.

The soldiers turn their weapons away from Blaire. They have no issue entering the city of Tynme. Walking past a small military camp outside the gate. Many of the soldiers wave toward Blaire.

“You know these people?” Makami asked.

"You have a girlfriend?" Magami asked

"Me, date this one armed pirate as if."

"Well, when I had an arm. Eqopzi had a very big crush on me."

"Stop telling people that fuck please."

  "What? It's not true."

"You know, it's not true. We were in the same unit. 901."

Blaire turns his attention to Eqopzi.

"Jeez, what's with the death stare? You staying this time or are you passing through?"

"Passing through. Small job, it ain't much.

“Is this another one of Onyx's contracts”

“Nope, more of a favor for someone.”

“Oh ok. Where are you headed?”

  “Tyze.”

“Oh wait, Why? You know that’s pretty hot at the moment. Especially with the conflict going on at the border."

  "What conflict?"

"Oh, you don't know about it? Apparently, there's a terrorist organization hiding on a base in a dark spot. It's land unoccupied by any nation. So, they're closing it off… why are you guys looking at me like that?"

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"Well, it seems he knows more about the destination than you, Blaire. Let me guess, Faldorin."

"Yup. Faldorin is the place where miracles happen apparently."

"Blame Nalzdor for that. The Royal family have some connections there so it makes sense. Well, good luck with that. Let me know how your trip went when you get back."

Blaire nods at the lady before covering his head with a cloth. Not before she grabs his shoulder.

"Hey, Don't get yourself killed, ok. I'm serious.

"Me, get killed as if." Blaire chuckles

  "I hate you."

  "Right back at you"

Blaire walks through a holograph at the side of a small building leading the two children into it. They arrive inside a small room. Where rests his equipment on a stand. Magami checks his sister’s hand examining it for any signs of unusuality.

“Why are we stopping here? Makami asks wise pulling her hand away from her brother.

"Why? You mean why aren't we. My feet are killing me."

“We've have been walking for quite some time now. Plus, my friends here will look out for two until it’s time to leave. So rest up. We start moving again first thing tomorrow”

Blaire throws himself on one of the beds hidden at the back of the room. Falling asleep instantly.

  "Wow heavy sleeper."

  "I completely feel you."

Magami is laid flat on the bed. Makami is disappointed.

"Hey, get up for a sec."

"Come on, please." Magami dogs himself deeper into the bedsheets

"Well, since he's sleeping. How are we going to discuss this with him when he gets up?"

"We won't have to discuss anything."

"Brother, no offense. But that lie you came up with isn't gonna trick him forever."

"Just keep it under control, and he'll believe it. By the way."

Magami pulls his head from the bed abit.

  "How are you holding up?"

"It doesn't get bad in the morning….. It's the night however."

"Hmm, What was his lady friend's name again?

  "Eqo- something. Why?"

  "Stay here for awhile."

Magami walks out of the hologram, and bunch of people walk pass him. He pulls a good over his head, and starts walking away.

"Ok, I have no clue where I'm going."

"Aren't you supposed to be inside."

  "How did you know?"

"I was across the street. You think we don't have people watching this place."

  "I didn't think about that."

"Anyway, time to head back inside. Remember, you're technically aliens. Can't have you walking around here getting in trouble."

"Did you always had that mark on your arm?"

Eqopzi is taken back by Magami's words. She takes a look at her to catch what he's talking about.

"Oh… this. I got burned from something. Then again, that's no-"

  "I could tell. That's not a burn."

  "What are you getting at?"

Magami doesn't say anything back to Eqopzi.

"Are you trying to be smart with me or something? What are you getting at? What do you mean this isn't a burn?"

Eqopzi walks closer towards him. Having her shadow completely cast over him. Magami could only look above him to see her. She then grabs his collar and pulls him up to her face.

"Watch yourself. We've only met for ten minutes, and I already can't stand you."

  "Feelings mutual."

  "What did you-

"You're infected aren't you? The spot is where you got attacked, and you hid it from your men. Quite frankly, I don't care if you like me or not. What I do care about is how do you suppress it? You don't seem to be avoiding people much."

Eqopzi lets go of him. Nearly tripping on his feet in the process.

"Hey, you guys? Leave us alone for a minute."

A small light flickers from a rooftop.

"Explain to me, how do you know about this?"

  "My sister has it too."

  "Does Blaire know that?"

  "Sorta…."

"So that's why you're heading to Faldorin. Just so you know that's a death trap for your situation."

"I don't need to hear about that. I just need to know how you do it."

"Well, there is something. It doesn't get the job fully, but it works for a while."

"Do you know where to find it?"

"Finding it won't be a problem unless you keep this between you and me. However, your sister might not be too interested in the….. 'administration'.

"I mean it's just a needle right?.... right?"

  "Makami?"

"Oh your back. You never really explained what you went for."

"Long story short. I found something that might help with it."

Makami lungs onto Magami. Hugging him tightly with an enormous smile on her face.

  "How does it work?"

  "Injection."

Makami holds her wrist to Magami.

  "Alright, let's go….. What's taking so long?

  "It doesn't go there."

  "Where does it go then?."

  Magami points to his eye.

  "Your crazy!"

"Shush… apparently, it needs to be injected through your optic nerve."

  "Optic what?"

"The thing you need to see. Were you even reading those books I gave you?"

"The ones with 800 pages yeah I wonder why I didn't, but either way. You're not putting anything in my eye."

"Do you have any better ideas? I'm all ears for any constructive criticism, but until then. This is gonna have to work Mak. It won't be that painful. It's just a pinch."

  "On my eyeball."

"Yeah, a pinch on your eyeball."

"Are you listening to yourself? No."

"Makami, stop making this difficult ok. Let's just get it over with, and you could rest without it acting up for a few days."

Makami crosses her arms and moves away from Magami.

  "Please."

  Makami backs away even further.

  "No."

"This isn't up for debate. You need this for your own good."

"How do you know what I need?"

  "Because I'm your brother."

"Hey, you two mind shutting up. I'm trying to sleep."

"Know what, it's your call. You know what's best for you."

Magami closes up the needle and leaves it with his items.

"I'm going to bed. Let me know if you need anything."

Makami sits on the floor putting her head on her knees. Drifting away into sleep.

  "Yo, Magami. Catch!"

A small ball hits Magami at the side of his head.

  "Dude! Ow…"

"Sorry Man, you GA to be paying attention mo-"

The young boy's words are closed off by a ball flying straight into his mouth.

"I think you should take your own advice Mike. Next time, make sure I'm not standing around when you play."

  "That's not fair Makami."

  "Really? What's the score again?"

  "I don't remember."

  "It's 8-0"

"We didn't ask for your input Mag."

"Hey, it's not his fault you suck at this."

"Ok, this time. I'll break your winning streak."

"And how are you planning on doing that?"

  "Hmmm…. I don't know."

Mike takes a look around the yard. The fence leading to the forest.

  "There."

  "What are we looking at?"

"Simple, get me an apple from the forest."

"No. She's not going out there for an apple."

  "Then I win."

"Hold it. What do I get in return? Your going to have to give us something for this."

  "Haven't thought about that yet."

  Giveusthekeytothepantry

  "What was that?"

"He said to give us the key to the pantry"

"Are you crazy? Mother would kill me."

  "Then, the score is 8-0."

"Ok, fine. You can have it for two days."

"Make it three and you have yourself a deal."

"No problem, and to make yourself you have some protection. Rob is going to go with you."

  "Fine, no problem."

  "Weather clearing shortly."

"Alright, you two. That's our cue to go."

Blaire finds Makami sitting down on the floor with her arms crossed. She looks over at Blaire and quickly turns her head away from him avoiding eye contact.

  “Your brother disappeared or something?”

  “He fell asleep over there.”

Magami is twisted up like pretzel on the bed.

"Well, I'll give him ten more minutes. Looks like he needs it. So what's your guy's next move?"

  “I'm sorry?”

"After you get your treatment. You guys do have some idea of where you're going next right?"

"No clue. We were hoping someone would pick us up."

"Pretty bold of you to assume someone's going to give you a home."

  "You have any better ideas."

  "Why not stay at home?"

"I'm sick, remember. Plus even if we did got someone to get it for us. We can't go back home anyway."

  "Might I ask why?"

  "I killed someone."

A trail of footsteps is left in the red sand of the desert. Blaire adjusts one of the tubes on his mask. Magami is carrying his exhausted sister on his back. Blaire opens the palm of his robotic hand and a hologram appears.

  “Ok, we can stop here.”

Magami falls over due to exhaustion.

“How much longer until we’re there?”

"We have at least two more days. A city shouldn't be that far away. Probably by tomorrow we'll be there. I'll set up camp. None of you die wise I'm doing that, okay?

  “Yea, I’ll try not to…..”

Magami pulls Makami off his back. However, he notices something different with her arm. There are small spikes of brown hair on it. Magami rests her out of view from Blaire. He places a small stick in her mouth between her teeth. Makami starts to goan in pain.

  “She ok?"

“AH! Sorry, you scared me? She just needs a little sleep. She gets headaches from time to time.”

"You sure you don't want to give her something to ease the pain. She looks miserable.

"No, just some rest would be fine."

  “Whatever you say….”

Blaire walks away from him. Leaving him alone with his sister. Magami holds onto his sister’s hand.

  "Makami?"

  "No.."

  Magami takes a deep inhale.

"It'll be over a second, ok."

A small scream comes from Magami and Makami causing him to rush over to them.

  "What happened?!"

Magami shows Blaire a dead wasp in his hand.

"See, she got stung from a wasp. She's not allergic to them or anything."

"Don't scare me like that. I thought something happened."

Blaire walks away from them, but Makami is holding her hand on her face covering her right eye. A small trail of blood runs down from it.

The group falls asleep under the blue night sky. The smoke from the campfire faints into the air.

  "Mr?"

  "He's not here"

Blaire turns his head in the other direction from Magami. Fixing himself on the ground.

"I don't want to interrupt your sleep or anything."

"Well, I'm already up. Try me at this point."

  "You have any siblings?"

  "Not at the moment."

"Well if you did have one, do they piss you off?"

"You're pissing me off now. I think you just answered your own question. Let me guess, you and Makami got off on the wrong foot somewhere today."

"Yeah. Apparently, she knows what's best for her now."

  "Do you?"

  "Hm?"

"I'm looking at it from a neutral position, but ask me. How do you know what's best for her? You don't know what she's thinking about. Maybe she might know what's best for her."

"I'm her brother. I'm supposed to know."

"Yeah, and she still has a mind of her own. You can't make every decision for her."

Magami looks over at his sister asleep in the tent.

"Me not making that decision for her lead to her being like this."

  "What's that supposed to mean?"

"I was just thinking out loud….I'm..um going to back to sleep."

Blaire lays down his back, and looks up at the stars. His mind starts to drift to the conversation he had with Makami earlier.

  "I killed someone."

  "Really, who exactly."

"Does it matter? I just know we can't go back because of that."

  "Was it someone close?"

  "No…No it wasn't."

"Why exactly did you do it?"

  Makami doesn't answer him back.

"You sure it's ok to send Rob with them, Mike?"

  "Listen, they'll be back soon."

"It's been three hours. I'm gonna check on them."

"You don't have to do that, you know."

"Yeah, but the sun's about to set and it's almost time for curfew."

Makami puts her hands through branches. Pulling them apart to walk through.

"Where are those apples? Rob, you alright?"

"Makami, I think it's time to start heading back. It's almost sunset."

  "In a moment."

"Mak, There isn't any here. We looked here all day."

"We haven't checked this spot though."

"I'm heading back. If you want to spend all night looking for apples, be my guest."

"Well, fine. I'm sure there's some right here."

Makami turns around to find Rob had vanished.

  "Rob?"

  "Rob?...Where did he go?"

Makami starts to wonder back the way she came from. She climbs over a small boulder, and something grabs onto her leg.

  "Sand…Sand, and more sand."

"Hey, I see something. Oh wait…that's more sand."

Makami almost slips off of Magami's back.

  "Hey, Be careful."

"We'll be fine. Hey, when do we get to this town you were talking about?"

  "Oh right. About that…."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT WAS FORTY MILES AGO?!!"

"I only said that so you would have stopped complaining."

"How can you say that so calmly? My feet and back are about to fall off."

"They haven't yet, right? So keep walking."

"Can you at least say 'accurately' how far we are?"

"I said the trip was going to be long. You got something for your sister's fever?"

  "She already took something."

  "Hold up, this will do."

  "We're setting up here?"

"Hey, don't question him. I'm tired of being on your back."

"You two rest yourselves. I'm going to set up camp."

Magami lays Makami down on her back.

  "How are you feeling?"

  "I'm very hot."

  "You want any water."

  "Yeah that would be-"

  "Hey?... Sis. You already?"

Makami starts shaking violently. Her eyes start to roll to the back of her head, and a white foam comes from mouth. Magami stares at his sister in a confused state. Unsure of what to do next. Blaire turns Makami on her side without any fuss.

"She'll be fine. It's a seizure. Maybe we've been walking for abit too long. Has she ever done this before?"

  "Hey, Magami."

  "Oh… no she hasn't."

"Then it seems her illness is getting worse."

Blaire walks over to his supplies and grabs a sheet. He hands it over Magami.

"Clean off her mouth, and get something to eat."

Blaire is sitting outside in the desert night. He's playing with something on his arm. Magami is lying next to him.

  "Mister."

  "Yes, Magami."

  "Do you have parents?"

  "Parents… Probably."

"I guess we all have one. We never got to see ours."

  "Hmm."

"Someone dropped us off there when we were babies."

"Where did you get your name from?"

"It was from a book. You ever heard of the story of the Three kings?"

  "No, never heard of it."

"Well, it's about A young swordsman, A black Mage, and a great adventurer. It tells a tale about how each of them was brought together by fate to defeat a great evil. "

  "Why were they called kings?"

"I don't know. The book never explained it. But our names come from the mythical creatures they occured. Makami, Malami, Izagami, and Magami. A four head snake with each head having a name."

  "Well, that's interesting."

  "What about your name?"

"My name isn't that interesting. In fact, Blaire's not even my real name."

"What, now that I think about it. You probably wouldn't want anyone to find out much about you."

"Plus, I would have to kill you if I told you my real name."

Magami smiles nervously. He's taken a back by Blaire's tone in saying that.

  "I'm just messing with you."

"You have a very shunit way of saying that."

"But it seems you have it all figured out. Find this doctor, get your sister her treatment, and ride off into the sunshine."

  "That's the plan hopefully."

"And what happens when that doesn't work."

  "What do you mean?"

"What if this doctor can't help your sister?"

  "Well, he has too."

"See, I was that way too. Blindly following anything. In some hope that it would work."

"Blindly following? I made sure this doctor was real."

"Right…. Then what is his name, or her name? Where does he live? What does he look like? You know how many doctors are in-"

"I get your point, but why start coming up with all this stuff now. You weren't too kind to take us anyway."

"That's because your sister being I'll and death's door might have been enough to change my mind."

  "I keep looking."

  "What?"

"I'll keep looking if I don't find one."

"And how long will that take?"

"As long as I draw breath! It's my fault she ended up like that to begin and it's my responsibility to fix it. I don't care how many times it will be. I will save my sister from this."

"Time is something we all don't have, For tomorrow is a promise to no man."

  "So, your philosopher as well."

  "I just saying-"

"I don't like where your taking this conversation."

A trail of footsteps lead from the campsite. Makami is walking away from the two in the distance.

  "Hey, stay here."

Blaire gets up and dusts off his clothes. Taking a walk around the campsite in an attempt to investigate the surrounding area.

"Magami, Is your sister still in the tent?"

  "No. Makami!"

Blaire walks to the back of the tent find a trail of footsteps. He looks up to find a group of people take Makami away in the distance.

"Scavengers. Stay put, and Don't move until I come back."

  "Where are you going?"

  "To get your sister."

  "What?! I'm coming with-"

"Not a chance, these people are dangerous. I can't be watching you and ensuring I don't get killed at the same time

  "But-"

"Stay put, and I'll be back. Ok"

"I'm coming with you. There's nothing you say to stop me from going."

  "Suit yourself."

Blaire turns his hand sideways and chops Magami in the side of his throat. Knocking him unconscious.

  "Get off of me!"

  "Oh, this one's a fighter."

Makami feels a large object hit her inside of her head.

"Hey, are you trying to break the merchandise?"

  "Who'd we get this time?"

"Hmm, Child….looks teenish. Pale skin. Yellowish brownish hair. Red eyes. 4'3. Guessing based on all of the cuts and scars. She's a runaway. Probably from an orphanage."

"Where did you get her from?"

"A few miles north. Looked like she was sleepwalking."

  "All the way out here?"

"She could be a refugee from the For

The mercenary snaps his fingers in front of Makami trying to catch her attention.

  "See nothing."

"That's not good. What if she's blind?"

"You're right. She might be a little dumb as well. Hmm, well. Someone will pay for her. Put her in the back with the rest of them. I think we'll call it a day here. I'll talk to the boss and we can start moving out."

The Merc grabs and Carey's her into the back of a cargo truck climbing into it, and closing the door behind him.

"This is Bravo 4. We have a good window. Just waiting on orders from control."

  "Hey."

A Merc walks up to him. Almost out of breath.

"Sorry, did I make it in time?"

"Luckily, you did. We were about to leave. What took you so long?"

"I'm new so…. Yeah, getting the ropes of things."

  Two share a laugh.

  "You have a smoke?"

  "Yeah no problem"

The Merc takes his eyes off the recruit to reach for a poach. Before he even knows it. A knife is hanging out the right side of his neck.

"Hmm, you alright?..... Control, we might ha- Ah!"

"Report…. Soldier report…. Control to surrounding operators checks on."

"False alarm. Must have been my imagination."

"You're getting paid to not be seeing things on the job. Get your shit together."

  "Yes sir"

"We'll send a patrol out there to check on things."

Blaire hangs up the radio surrounded by a small crowd of dead bodies. He takes the uniform and throws it to the ground.

"Can I have one trip without someone getting kidnapped?"

Blaire walks to one of the bodies and pulls a keycard off them. Heading towards one of the trucks. He opens the back of it. Some civilians run out of it. Thanking him as they go out, but he isn't interested in that. Makami isn't in the back of this one. That's only one left in front of him…. Although, there aren't any more guards alive. There's something that's giving a bad feeling in his gut. Blaire grabs one of the assault rifles on the ground as he slowly approaches the truck. Blaire mumbles to himself a bit. He clearly remembered someone climbing the back of the truck. However, when people started dying. He didn't hear anything come from this one. It's a small chance, but maybe he blocked it out under pressure. Blaire takes the keycard out of his pocket and reaches for the slot. That was before the door flew open and nearly hit him in the face. The Merc falls out straight onto the floor with half of his neck chewed off. Something climbs out of it. Search for the individual who was just standing right beside the door. Growing comes from the foot of the door as scratches drag across the side of the truck. Stopping at one specific spot right In Front of Blaire covered in fuel to hide his scent under the truck. The four-legged creature walks away from him.

"Fuck…..no no. Makami. She was in the back of the truck with the guy."

Blood starts to pool from the back of the truck landing right into Blaire's view.

"How am I going to explain this to him? Great Blaire, you let your guard down for one second, and it"

  "Mr?... Mr, are you here?"

"What's he doing here? He's not supposed to be up until sunrise. Damnit. Idiots."

Blaire slides himself from under the truck and heads towards the beast pointing his rifle towards it.

  "Magami! Move."

  "Huh… wait…wait."

"Kid, move. That thing will tear you into pieces."

  "Oh…"

Magami holds his palm out to the gray wolf.

"Makami. It's me. You can relax now.”

Makami lays next to Magami foot.

“Also, your covered in gas. It wouldn’t be wise too.”

“Magami, tell me this isn’t the disease your sister has.”

“Yes, but… hear me out. Please. It only happened a few weeks ago. Something bit her, at first. It seemed like a dog or something.”

“Let me stop you right there. I’ve heard this story before, and I know how it ends. Can you tell her to go for a walk or something. I need to speak to you in private.”

Magami waves hand to her and she walks away.

“I know your mad about this-”

“Mad? You basically wasted my time and resources to get all the way out here.”

“Alright I lied. How is this a problem though?”

“Think. After what happen at the border last time with one of them. They won’t even take the chance to let you through. They’ll shoot you on sight, but that’s the least of your worries anyway. Because even if you do manage to get in. There’s not one doctor on the planet that has a cure for that. She’s a walking death trap.”

  “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Take a guess. You know what people just like your sister. They go insane without a collar, and the only place you could get one is Nalzdor. Thats if you even still have enough money to get it. Sorry, man. Even if i wanted to. It’s not possible.”

  “How much time she has?”

“Well, apparently she’s starting to see visions and shit, so. Three months if your lucky. There is an another option though.”

Blaire turns around to face Magami.

“Go home. Find the perfect spot. Somewhere that will make her feel comfortable.”

“No….. I’m not killing my sister. I know that’s what your suggesting.”

  “Well, it’s that or-”

“I’d rather be torn to pieces. We have three months. You said only how much time left matters right We’ll make it. I’m not leaving my sister like this.

“Maybe your taking my quotes abit too serious, but if that’s what you want. So be it.”

Blaire hands a weapon to Magami.

‘You’ll need it. Trust me. Start walking. Take whatever food you need, and get lost.”

  Magami takes it from him.

“Welp, this is goodbye. Pleasure doing business with you.”

“I’ll give this back to you, Someday.”

“Don’t dirty it then. Take care of yourself.”

Blaire gives Magami a small pat before leaving. Magami takes a good look at the pistol he received.

A candle light shines in a dark hallway. Crying is softly coming from down the way.

  “Makami?”

  “Magami!”

“Are you alright? I was looking up and down for you.”

  “Don’t come near me.”

  “Relax, it’s just me.”

“Please Magami. Just stay right there.”

“Come on, it’s not that bad.”

Magami walks towards his sister. Revealing blood all around her. It’s dripping off of her hands and mouth. Magami nearly drops the candle he was holding.

  “What happened?”

  “I don’t know…. I just…..”

“Magami? You haven’t said anything since last night?”

“Oh um. I was thinking about something.”

Makami stops walking and looks down.

  “Did I say something?”

“There isn’t a doctor is there.”

“Would you believe if I said there was one.”

  “Is there?”

  “I don’t know….”

  “ That’s he left didn’t he?”

“Listen, don’t worry about it. We’ll find a way. We always do. This is it, right where he said it would be.”

  “We just go through?”

  Magami?

  Magami?

  Magami?
