  “Who’s Charleston Updike?”

  “What?”

  “Honey?”

  “Yeah?”

  “Who's Charleston Updike?”

  “Some eccentric millionaire from upstate. Why?” Andrew said as he washed his face in the ensuite sink. Chelsea sat on the bed befuddled holding the vague invitation card in one hand and the envelope with its now broken wax stamp seal, in the other.

  “He invited us to a Halloween dinner party at his mansion in Wolfey Hollow.”

  Andrew patted his face dry with a towel, “Can I see that?”

  Chelsea handed him the invitation which he glanced over.

  “What's the catch?”

  “I don't know? Should we go?”

  “Why would we?”

  “Why not? When was the last time we attended a feast?! At a mansion?!”

  “When is it?”

  “This weekend. Halloween.”

  “Is it a costume party?”

  “I would assume so. It says costumes are optional, but I think we should dress up.”

  “All right. I'm game.”

  “Nice! Now we just need to decide on a couple's costume.”

  Chelsea placed the invitation on the bedside table and climbed underneath the covers, where Andrew joined her. They kissed good night and Chelsea snuggled up close to Andrew.

  “Goodnight.” She said.

  “Night, muffin.”
