Chapter 2- I Wanna Get Paid!

The entire bar was practically shrouded with a deafening silence now that the crowd had parted.

Both men were glaring daggers towards this snarky dark haired boy in a black cloak as though he had murdered every single one of their family members and got away with it.

From the looks of it, the brat who had just blatantly insulted them was extremely scrawny and short, standing no higher than five foot five inches tall. His baggy dark grey work pants, coupled with what looked like muddy work boots made it look as though his clothes were wearing him instead of the other way around.

The duo glanced at each other with angry expressions before slowly calming down, their expressions of fury contorting into menacing grins as though they had both reached a similar conclusion.

"Kid, who the hell do you think you are? A Starian?"

"You aren't some galactic hero you little dickwad. Get going before we kick your ass."

"Matter of fact, how did a child like you even get in here?"

June groaned internally at their insults. Sure he was short for a nineteen year old, but surely his face showed at least some level of maturity to it right? He shook his head and pointed at the two men with a smirk.

"What makes you so sure you'll kick my ass? How do you know I won't knock you both out in an instant?"

There were slight murmurs and snickers echoing amongst the crowd.

The two crooks frowned and glanced at each other before both reached to their sides. It was pretty clear that one, or if not, both of them felt pretty humiliated to be getting insulted like this by what they assumed was a mere child. One pulled out a pocket knife, and the other unsheathed a full on dagger from a leather sheath hooked to his belt.

  Someone in the crowd gasped.

  'Here we go!'

June immediately reached into his cloak and threw something on the ground in front of him as soon as the two men came dashing towards him. It was a sort of small metal cylinder that landed perfectly in the middle between June and the criminals.

With an extremely low hum, the cylinder glowed a light blue in the grooves carved around it. Shooting from both surface ends of the cylinder was a thin metallic wire. Both ends of the wire shot forward with phenomenal speed, flowing past and through the feet of the parted crowd, connecting to the nearby wall to the right and the further wall to the left, all the way on the other side of the bar.

Once the metallic wire was hooked, the men had arrived near June, who took a huge step back while slightly lowering his stance.

Unbeknownst to the men, they had already fallen into June's plan.

Their feet stumbled over the sturdy wire, sending the both of them toppling forward. In that short moment of respite, June hopped forward, his boots humming slightly and glowing light blue in the deep grooves in the shoe soles. He grabbed the top of the two men's heads for balancing and jumped over their toppling bodies, raising his legs high in a sort of aerial splits.

Once the exchange was over, the crowd was dead silent. June scoffed slightly as he landed. They probably couldn't believe their eyes that a--

  SMASH!

June's train of thought was cut out by the sound of glass breaking. The sound of shards falling and littering the ground echoed around the bar. June's face dropped as he turned around to see the stained glass window that was behind the altercation completely smashed with two men lying outside in an acid rain covered street.

'I'M NOT PAYING FOR THAT SHIT! I gotta take one of these pricks and go!'

He turned to the ground quickly, searching for where his item he used to trip those men was hovering. Once he found it, he clicked a button on the side of the small cylinder which was still holding the metal wires in place. June quickly retracted his hand as both sides of the small metal cylinder snapped shut due to the wires contracting back, the grooves glowing a light blue again before growing dimmer and eventually extinguishing. He threw the small cylinder item into his pack hooked around his waist and stood up.

June looked amongst the crowd and could see multiple gazes on him. He even noticed a few people had tripped over the metal wires which had once flowed between both partitions of the crowd.

  "Hey! What's going on!?"

June heard a deep yell from near the second floor staircase and turned to his right see a group of employees who seemed rather burly and strong approaching the situation. He groaned internally and attempted to dash forward when he suddenly felt his weight shift. He turned to see the old man clinging to his leg, muttering over and over almost incoherently.

"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank y-OW!!"

"Get the FUCK off of me!"

June was not in the mood for thanks, gratitude or gifts at the moment considering his biggest possible prize were laying outside in a shattered glass covered heap. He kicked the old man in the face violently, sending him flying onto the ground. He could feel a few glares piercing him from amongst the crowd, but...

'What right do these pussy ass bystanders have in judging me after getting rid of the main crooks.'

Turning away from the sprawled out old man, June hopped out of the wide gap in the wall which was once covered by stained glass, a few people talking to the few smaller looking employees that had arrived, and others pointing towards the shattered window.

June knew he didn't have much time left until he was dragged away by those burly employees or security guards, or whatever they were that he saw earlier.

As he landed on the wet stone ground of the street, the shattered stained glass crackling under his boots, June looked around and realised how steamy the entire street was from the acid rain. He smiled to himself a little as though an idea was formulating in his mind, but that smile quickly turned into a frown when he noticed one of the two men slowly trying to get to his feet from the ground.

He stared up at the shattered window and saw less people there, meaning they were probably on their way down to the front door to approach him.

June kissed his teeth and pulled a different object from the pack on his hip. It was a small circle shaped disc, and the other item he had reached for was a metal rod hooked onto his belt on the other side of his hip. It was a little larger than the one June had used in the bar to trip up the two crooks, but it was still no bigger than June's forearm.

He pressed a button on the side of the rod which seemed to suddenly force the rod to elongate and turn into a metallic staff. It was as tall as June and glinted a little under the moonlight of the three masses slowly orbiting this planet. June raised it high and brought as much force as he could down on the moving perpetrators head.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

Once a loud whacking sound echoed throughout the empty wet streets, June sighed and looked at the two unmoving bodies. He came to the conclusion that maybe the one that was not moving had probably already been knocked out once he had fallen out the window, so now he had the choice of either taking two unconscious bodies, or just one.

June shook his head in slight disappointment.

Unluckily for him, he did not have that liberty with the amount of people on the way outside.

Throwing the metal disc on one of the men's backs, June dragged the other's unconscious body into the nearby alleyway. He was not sure which one was still alive, but concluded that no one could die from a simple hit to the head, especially in this special day and age.

The metal disc on the back of the man left behind began to let out a low hum as the grooves engraved around it glowed a dim green. The disc burned through the man's clothes instantly, before reaching his skin. From the alleyway, June could hear a nasty sizzling sound as the body began to writhe around a little as though it was in vast amounts of pain.

Soon enough, the body stopped fidgeting before standing up in a calm and collected manner.

June smiled to himself as he pulled the body of the man he had taken further down the alley. In that moment, the doors to the bar burst open.

  "YOU! STOP MOVING!"

As soon as June heard those words being directed towards the man he had left behind, he began to frantically start dragging the other's unconscious body faster down the murky alleyway, sweat dripping down his face.

Regardless of this rush, June was still pretty certain he would not be dealing with anyone on the planet chasing him down any time soon.

'Now cause a commotion for me. Puppet number one.'

As soon as these words crossed June's mind, the unconscious body of the man he left behind stood up, turned, and ran in the opposite direction of where June was headed, almost completely disappearing into the steam gathering in the streets. The group of muscular employees were stunned by the cheek of the bastard to just turn tail and run like that, even after being given such a stern warning.

  "WHAT A BITCH!"

  "GET HIM!"

"WE'LL HANG HIM OUT IN THE ACID RAIN ALL NIGHT! GET SOME TOXINS IN HIS SYSTEM!"

  "Too far man..."

  ---

Once June thought he was far away and deep into the city's maze of an alleyway system, he dropped the unconscious body he was carrying and leaned on a wall.

He seemed to be more exhausted than he thought since he dropped down into a sitting position too. He panted a little bit while looking down at his trembling hands.

He kissed his teeth before clenching his fists and looking up at the cloudy sky. There was nothing but dark clouds above, allowing small rays of moonlight from the three moons this planet had to shine through. He closed his eyes for a bit, allowing the rain to tickle his skin before shaking his head and pulling his hood back up.

'If any more of that touches my skin. I'll die in my early sixties.'

June stood back up with a grunt and took a look at the body of the man next to him. In that moment, he seemed to remember the requirements of this job.

You see, June was a bounty hunter. One of some level of renown in the seventh solar system. He was known amongst his peers as extremely crafty, shifty, money hungry, and a complete and utter weakling.

June gladly took those comments to heart and made sure he'd rain hell on the dickhead that begun the circulation of those rumours.

  'I'll slaughter them...'

Besides that though, he was still known to be especially resourceful in the way he conducted bounty hunting jobs, whether it be against a monster, human, or anything that had a bounty on it. That was why he was the only person around to decide to commit to this long term job.

So far, he was four months in. Not only did he have to follow these pricks across the entire fucking solar system, watching as they scammed people left, right and centre, but he also had to bide his time.

He had to plan, analyse the victim, understand his situation, understand his targets strength's and weaknesses, and pick the right time to strike against them.

For example, if June was to fight the two men while alone on the farmland of the old man they were harassing, he would have had a much more difficult time against them, simply because he would be diving into the fight not knowing much about his opponents or his own surroundings. It wasn't like he was a local here on Blegvolt or anything either, which only made him more cautious.

That was also why he made sure to strike when the two men were at their lowest in combat ability. When they were drunk.

Luckily for him, they decided to drag their victim into a bar once the rain clouds started to gather above the city.

Only then did he believe he stood a chance against two grown men who were much stronger than him physically. He understood the layout of the bar as well after entering, making sure his tripwire contraption would work perfectly. He even picked the right place to yell out to them, right in front of the stained glass window. The results spoke for itself.

The plan was far from over though.

A few months prior to the job, June had purchased a few controlling discs from the travelling underground market that would go from solar system to solar system in the Staria empire. It was a device that worked to control whoever was inflicted with it. From what June had learned, it was mostly used by merchants or farmers who needed the assistance of animals or strong monsters if they could not afford any high tech gear. A requirement of the usage of the small disc was that the target had to be unconscious or severely weakened, practically forcing them to do the user's bidding.

June found it rather inhumane, but when was he ever the type to care about what was humane or not. So he spent a hefty sum of Juul on purchasing three of them.

Once June had noticed how steamy the streets were from acid rain as well, he knew he could use that to his advantage to stay hidden while using one of the men to distract anyone that wanted to get in the way. That was how he remembered the requirements of the job. He only needed to bring in one of the bastards, dead or alive.

June didn't consider himself much of a killer, so he almost immediately chose the latter option.

  ---

The man's eyes slowly opened, his head practically screaming in pain from some sort of injury he had suffered.

Waking up to a splitting headache, and bright lights was not necessarily his idea of something he'd want to wake up to.

  'Wait...Bright lights?'

He blinked a little, his eyes adjusting a little to the light as he tried to move, but he couldn't.

The man, now confused, looked down at himself to see that he was tied rather well to a metal chair with mundane rope. He tried moving, letting out small grunts of pain whenever his wrists suffered too much pressure from trying to break free, or the pain from his headache grew far too overwhelming. His heart began to beat faster, his breathing also quickening slightly as the reality of his situation slowly began to set in.

In that moment, while struggling to free himself, and slowly beginning to become overcome with panic, a mocking voice resounded from in front of him.

"Ah. You're awake you dirty little prick."

The light in his face grew dimmer as the man began to realise his surroundings.

He seemed to be in a small kitchen which faced the interior of what he immediately realised was probably a small spacecraft. In front of him was a small kitchen table and to his right side was multiple small black cabinets, drawers, a fridge, a sink, a wide surface where one could prepare their food, and whatever else belonged in a kitchen.

It looked small, as though only two people could be in here at a time.

The man turned his head forward, and past the dim light in his face. There was a control panel up ahead through a narrow entrance to the cockpit which showed that there were two seats, and a wide windscreen displaying a multitude of stars littering the vast void of space.

To the left side of him, there was a small wall that divided the kitchen from what was on the other side. However, the wall wasn't tall enough for the man to be incapable of peering over it.

The man saw a bed to the end of the left side, a small couch right in front of the divider that split the kitchen and that part of the spacecraft, an entrance to a small bathroom, and a small storage compartment as well.

The man quickly came to the conclusion that he had been kidnapped onto a space vessel and was now floating somewhere in space with...someone?

He peered behind the light that was placed onto the small kitchen table in front of him. He could not see the person's face properly due to the light, even if it was dimmed a little. They seemed to be wearing all black, had dark messy hair under their black hood, and seemed to be...smiling?

That voice he had just heard, hadn't he heard it before?

"W-Where am I? Where's Fischer? Who are you?"

The voice of the person in front of him chuckled mockingly before moving the light away from his tied up victim's face, staring him down.

In that moment, the man suddenly realised who he was talking to. His heart began to bubble with anger as his expression contorted into one of pure disgust and rage. His memories had been a little hazy since he had woken up, only remembering him and Fischer laughing at the bitchy old man pinned on the black jack table after losing to them, but now, everything seemed to return to him. The insults he had suffered from a short little rodent, and being tripped through a glass window.

  "Y-You...YOU FUCKER! WHAT'S YOUR DEAL!?"

June smiled, baring his full set of teeth into a cheeky grin before pointing to himself innocently.

"Me? My deal? I wanna get paid jackass!"
