Chapter 4

  Cordelia

These past few days, I have mostly been stuck on the library. Since I didn't know what Cordelia usually does or stuff, I simply decided to use my time learning more about the world I was thrown in.

Everyone was suspicious of me. That, I know. I could feel it. But I had an excuse up in my sleeve. I'll simply say that I had an enlightenment. A change if heart if you will.

Ofcourse, nobody believes it. But this new Cordelia is better than the old one. Nobody said that to my face, but I could see from their expressions that that's what they were thinking of.

Moving on, it was finally the day of the birthday banquet. Me and Ophelia were to turn 15 years old!

All the nobles from the Dukedom visited, and a few chosen ones from different territories also attended.

One of the few was Evander Orion Vasquez. The son of the Duke of Vasquez... Aswell as Cordelia's fiance.

Long story short, he and the past Cordelia are a match made in heaven. Or should I say hell?

Cordelia was a bitch who bullied her sister non-stop due to jealousy. The same could be said for Evander.

Evander's half brother, Cedric Vasquez, was a genius prodigy from the strongest house of magic. And he was an illegitimate, which pissed Evander even more.

Like Cordelia, he died in the middle of the novel. He sided with the Viliness and was tragically killed by the first Prince. That was how he got the approval of Cedric.

I don't really want to be associated with him any further, considering that he was the primary reason why Cordelia got influenced into bullying Ophelia. But we were engaged, so I needed to find a way to break it off.

Something just needs to go wrong today and I can compin to father to break off this stupid engagement...

And he is very stupid so it shouldn't be that hard. Right?

"Happy birthday Lady Cordelia!" Hannah and Janice yelled out as they entered my room.

Honestly, considering what past Cordelia was like, they seem way too comfortable with me. Either she was only mean to Ophelia, or they've realized I changed.

But even if they realized it, they wouldn't be so comfortable quickly if the former owner if this body had tortured them aswell...

Was my perception of the original Cordelia wrong? I've only ever read about Ophelia's side after all.

"Are you excited my dy?" Hannah asked as they got the bath prepared.

A few days ago I specifically requested them that I will be taking my own baths from now on. I just don't feel comfortable having two women clean and caress my body... it's weird... So from now on I am independent when it comes to my bath!

"I suppose." I answer. I don't really know what to expect. There were no mentions of the happenings regarding their 15th birthday within the book.

"You should be." Hannah smiled as she closed the room.

I suppose I should pretend to be excited atleast.

  * * * * * * * * * *

The party was grand. The ballroom was decorated to the brim, and nobles could be seen from every corner.

  It's suffocating.

Perhaps because I'm not used to the crowds. I was an introvert back on earth after all- an angry introvert.

I could sneak out... Nobody has really noticed me yet, considering no one is approaching me for a chat.

I mean. Cordelia was a viliness- not the main, but still... So I suppose no one would really want to talk to her... But still, it is her birthday.

  Ahh fuck it, I'm leaving.

I sneak towards the side door and snuck out. I let my feet guide me and soon I was in the garden.

It was dark, but the flowers were glowing. I wonder what they are called? They're beautiful.

I've never visited the garden before, since I was busy in the library... I kind of regret that now.

Suddenly, I heard a sound. Turning to the origin of the noise, I saw a person.

Man? Woman? They had long dirty blonde hair, but they wore a nobleman's attire rather than a dress... They also had quite the muscle... But their chest-.

Okay no. Stop it weirdo. Quit staring.

"The party's inside you know." I whispered, turning my head away.

"Then what are you doing here?" The person asked, walking to my side.

"Didn't want to be with so many people." I answer, trying not to look at the person. I was worried I might end up staring at something I shouldn't again.

"Well that's new. THE Cordelia, famous for her extroverted nature and wide connections, doesn't want to be around people?" The person held an amused tone. So they know who I am?

"I need break sometimes too you know." I huffed. It was true, to some extent.

"Hmm... Sure." Their tone suggested disbelief. I gred at them.

  "What? You think I'm lying?"

"Never said anything of sort." They grinned. This little-.

"Cordelia?" Ophelia suddenly appeared, calling out my name. "There you are. Mother and Father are looking for you."

Ophelia stared at the weirdo. I simply sighed. "Okay. Thanks for telling me. I'm gonna head inside now."

"See you ter My Lady." The person said, waving me off as I left. Ophelia following me soon after.

"Where were you?" Mother asked, staring at me.

"Garden," I simply replied, looking around. There were more people now...

"Well whatever. The event is about to start, go upstairs to your father." Mother shoed me off, I then went on to find Father.

I wonder who that person was.

  ???

How fascinating, she didn't recognize me... Is this one of your ploys, Cordelia? Or has something happened?
