Chapter 12

  Cordelia

Arcane Theory was alright. But half the lesson was hard to understand. It was mind-breaking when you finally understood it though. Must be why Zariah likes it.

The teacher was nice. Very nice... I kinda expected a grumpy man to be teaching Arcane Theory but I was proven wrong!

...you can tell I didn't pay attention when teachers were announced.

Well, they announced themselves either way! So whether or not I listen doesn't really matter!

The next subject was History... And the grumpy old man I thought was gonna be the Arcane Theory's teacher turns out to be the teacher for history...

  And he is really annoying...

At the very first day of school he asked each of us history questions... If we can't answer we stand up... Sadly for me I have yet to finish the history books... Luckily, Cordelia has stockpiled history in her mind.

Dude. How am I supposed to know that?! Seriously what sort of question is that?! I thought this was a monogamous kingdom!

  ... Whatever.

Anyways, after History... Which mostly consisted of students standing up as punishment for not knowing the 'basics', me and Ophelia walked to our next css.

Now. This subject is most commonly known as the most hated subject. Mathematics. But the thing is, I don't really hate mathematics that much. In fact, I love it! When I understand it of course.

I remember people hating on it...

I still can't get over the fact that you love your sister...

"Hey... Cordelia?" Ophelia asked, nudging me. The math teacher still hasn't arrived, so most students were talking amongst themselves.

  "Hmm? What is it Ophelia?"

"...any chance you'll help me with my assignments like when we were kids?" Ophelia asked. She looked... Horrified?

  "...sure... I'll help."

Oh please. It's not like you could do anything in the event I said no.

  ...

You wouldn't do that. It's undignified.

  Oh whatever.

  The doors then fly open...

"Good morning css. Unfortunately I can't meet you all properly for the first day as I have something to do so please take this pre test and put them on my desk after." The teacher quickly said, handing out papers to the front and letting us pass them to the back...

Here I thought paper was expensive...

Yea... But I thought paper was extremely valuable in the past... Then again it's probably through the help of magic or whatever that caused paper to not be expensive...

  Cool.

Anyways, looking at the paper... It's... Fractions and Percentages?

Hey,voice in my head, don't tell me these are difficult here...

  <...>

...I could be a mathematician. Not like I want to... But that's just a thought.

  * * * * * * * * * *

My st css before lunch begins— weaponry. Sadly, Ophelia doesn't have this css due to her being quite frail physically back then so I'm all alone for now.

  ...or so I thought.

I swear she must be a stalker, right?

  <...>

Why you silent? Just because your sister's gone?

<...Why does casual wear fit Zariah...>

Yep. Zariah's here... The teacher said that she's helping this css out... And Cordelia's right. You know that Medieval-ish clothes commoners wear? Apparently trainees wear them too... And Zariah is wearing that currently...

Still can't understand why you're silent about thi— oh fuck.

  Nah... Don't mind it.

I'm also sharing this css with a certain bastard. I was lucky he wasn't in our history or mathematics... But fuck you why do you have to be here in my Weaponry css Viktor?!?!

He then looked at me and smiled, waving his hand. Don't you act nice to me... I know what you pn to do to my sister!

...fuck I'm turning into the voice in my head—

...nope nothing. Nothing at all. Don't mind it Cordelia.

Anyways... The teacher told us to pick a weapon of our choosing... Apparently it's for him to know what we know best.

  ...sounds kinda dumb though.

Of course I'm picking the bow. One thing I know, despite being weak as shit in magic, Cordelia is pretty good with the bow.

Considering it's the family's main weapon, she should be...

Anyways, I walk over to the bows and pick out a pretty durable one.

"Looks like you picked the bow." Zariah smiled, suddenly appearing beside me.

"...of course" I mutter, hiding my surprise at her sudden appearance. "Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in css?"

"It's my break time" she hummed, walking a few steps away from me as I stretch the bow, getting a feel for it.

"...ok. then go enjoy your break?" I say, picking out another bow.

"I am? I like to help teachers out during my break time... I'm currently helping your weaponry professor with assisting the students."

"Then go assist someone else?" I said, testing the bow I picked. Didn't feel right.

Zariah picked out a bow from the rack and handed it to me. I tested it, it felt okay.

  Hmm...

"You would me Cordelia... You wish to be rid of me? Are we not friends?" She pouted, which... Is surprising... No! Bad Amelia! Don't fall for her— it— Don't falk for it!

"I'm just saying I don't need help..." I whisper, ignoring her questions...

She chuckled and walked towards another student, "Just tell me if you need some help!"

Looking at her discreetly... I'm just curious okay? Nothing suspicious... Her entire facade fell. Her smiley nature turned into an... Meh. Neutral expression...

Well... I sorta expected that... But still quite surprising.

I look around. Most students chose swords. A few chose spears, and it seems only I chose the bow... Okay nevermind. A handful chose the bow. But still quite a small number.

A few minutes go by, the teacher called us to go gather.

"Alright listen up everyone! Gather'ound. I want y'all to duel each other."

...do you want to hurt your students?!?!

Okay. The weapons are wooden... But still!

  Ain't that dangerous?!

Ah whatever. I should be fine... Hopefully Cordelia's body has some muscle memory...
