  POV Jaba

‘Rick said something about taking two Goblins at a time to fight Horned Rabbits until they leveled up or something, but I’m not too sure what this whole leveling thing is about. Is it just getting stronger and smarter after fights?

‘Hm, I need more information. Hopefully, that weird Goblin survives and comes back soon. Anyway, instead of taking two, I’m going to take everyone, so I can show the entire Tribe at the same time, except for the ones on guard duty though. Yes, this is definitely a good idea.

‘Since unevolved Goblins aren’t the smartest, I need to keep this short and direct. No need for any weird long speeches like that weird Goblin would probably do, and I don’t think I need to stand for everyone to hear me, but let’s do it, anyway.’

“Everyone, listen up! The stone monsters will come again, and we are too weak to survive! So, everyone will get stronger! We’re going to train. Follow me!”

‘Alright, I think I did well there.’

‘Hm, they all look extremely confused. I just need to hope that they remember the stone monster thing. If they do, then they should understand the need for training, right?

‘I’m the strongest Goblin here so they’ll probably listen regardless, but I want them to understand.

‘Oh look, they’re all moving now. I didn’t hear any complaints or anything, so it seems it was fine. Not that they ever really complained.

‘Let’s move on. They looked a little lost at first, but they all followed me in the end as expected. Now for the hard part. Would showing them the sidestep move I showed the weird Goblin work for them too?

‘That Goblin was a lot smarter than all of them while at the same level, and I think he’s smarter than myself even now, so I’m not sure if this will work for the rest of them like it did for him.

‘Anyway, if you take away me, Rick the weird Goblin who just left, and the four Goblins on guard duty, that leaves twenty-two Goblins here to teach. That's a lot of Goblins, but I can do this.

‘Alright, I’m not the smartest Goblin in the world, but I know how to fight rabbits so let’s just show them the moves a few times without actually fighting one of the rabbits, then I’ll show them again while fighting the rabbits.

‘Yeah, that should do it. Hopefully, they get the picture even though I’m using the same spear I had before I evolved so it’s really small.

‘Do I have to go hunting somewhere else to make a bigger one? Maybe Rick will bring one. Anyway, let's show them how to fight now.’

“Everyone pay attention. This is how you fight!”

All the Goblins keenly looked on as Jaba began showing them how to thrust with the little spear he had in his hands. Even though he looked awkward with the spear that was obviously too small for his body, they seemed to understand his movements.

He did the thrusting movement repeatedly before transitioning into a sidestep, followed by an arcing slash.

The Goblins didn’t quite understand how to do the sidestep at first, but after Jaba did it numerous times, they got the general gist of it. Well, as best as they were going to get it without actually doing it themselves.

After letting them observe him for quite a while, Jaba was ready to move to the next stage of his plan when he realized something.

There weren’t nearly enough spears for all of them to begin practicing.

It was a good thing that although the number of spears were limited, all of them should know how to make one at this point. It was only Rick who was behind when it came to this.

  Jaba then began talking.

“Before you all begin practicing, I need just this side of you all from here to here to go gather sticks and branches for making spears, then quickly go back to the cave and use the remaining horns to make them. Go!”

While the other group quickly scampered off to do the task given to them, the leftover Goblins had all the spears that were lying around the cave in hand.

Thankfully, it was just enough to have the remaining eleven Goblins practice.

From there, Jaba quickly had them line up into two somewhat disorderly lines and started some repetitive thrusting.

The practicing was very rough at first because the Goblins weren’t used to having to do this.

It was only thanks to Jaba who took this role as instructor with vigor that they were able to push through and keep going.

He did his best to correct any mistakes they made during the process. It was clear that all the intelligence he gained as a result of evolving was really bearing fruit at this moment.

Creating this sort of training regime and correcting big and small mistakes for this number of Goblins wouldn’t have been possible for the previous Jaba.

So, he let them continue doing the thrust training until they started to get tired before awarding them a brief break.

It was during this break that Jaba realized something. He began to really enjoy this sort of teaching experience. It was becoming rather rewarding for him.

Of course, he actually began to realize it whenever he trained Rick but seeing all these little Goblins trying their best to learn really made him really happy.

Though right after that thought, he immediately thought to himself that he would never tell them. Even though he couldn’t figure out why he shouldn’t say anything.

After a few moments passed, he quickly got them back to training, though this time he got them going with the sidestep and overhead arcing slash.

There were a lot more errors and mistakes this time around, but he expected this.

If anything, this made him even happier. Being able to teach these little ones through everything seemed to be really fulfilling.

The way they just listened to him and always tried their very best to complete whatever he told them, there was just something about it that warmed his heart.

He couldn’t help but think to himself that it wouldn’t be so bad if he got used to this.

After drilling them for a while, it was time to show them how this set of moves works on the Horned Rabbits they eat.

It didn’t take long for Jaba to realize taking all of them to go hunt Horned Rabbits would only lead to them running away due to the sight of the large group. From there he thought about a few different ways to go about this before settling on a plan.

He was going to catch one of those Horned Rabbits and bring it back to the Tribe. That way he would be able to give all of them a firsthand look all at the same time.

.Jaba of course felt it was a great plan.

He left a few parting words to the group before he left.

“Alright, everyone stay here and continue to practice what I showed you! I’ll be right back!”

And with that, the group of Goblins continued to train, while Jaba swiftly vanished into the surrounding woods in search of one of the many Horned Rabbits that lived nearby.

While back inside, the other group of Goblins were busy toiling away in the making of those spears. All in all, it was quite an eventful day in the lives of the Goblins living in this small cave. Quite unusual for them.
