At the desk in his private cabin sat Commodore Aric von Falkenstein, or rather Vice Admiral Aric von Falkenstein. His new rank in the Imperial Navy could be seen in the insignia of his uniform, which he wore impeccably without wrinkles, stains or the like. He was reading information about his new home sector and system that he had been able to gather over the st few days.
POV Vice Admiral Aric von Falkenstein
Once I had the information on my new home sector sorted out, I began to read through the information that the Imperial archives had on the Perinn sector. Not much, that was for sure.
The Perinn sector was located in the Bright Jewel upper sector at the very edge of the known universe. There was no direct hyperspace route to the sector. To reach it, you had to use 2 smaller hyperspace routes from Entral to reach Valc VII. The pnet from which the sector was ruled. Then you had to follow 1 smaller hyperspace route to finally arrive in the Astralis system. Bentkof has come up with something nice for me.
The Astralis system consisted of 6 pnets, although only Astralis IV was colonized. Three of the pnets in the system were surrounded by asteroid belts. Of these, two were asteroid belts of smaller nature and the other was of rger nature. Hopefully, ore could be mined from the asteroids or used for other purposes. The pnets with the asteroid belts could not be colonized because there were dangers from asteroids and the crusts of the three pnets were not stable. But perhaps ores could be mined there and used in manufacturing or other things. Hopefully. The other two pnets had not yet been explored. That will be a task once I have settled into the system.
At the same time, there were a few small skirmishes between the Republic and the CIS in the system during the Clone Wars. For whatever reason. The pnet is strategically unimportant and has no special resources that are decisive for war. I might find shipwrecks that I can reuse or loot. Another task for ter.
Astralis IV was a pnet with three continents, the central one being the only one that was colonized. The other two had been explored but were not really colonized. There were only a few small settlements on them. The central continent was home to almost the entire popution of almost 2 million beings. Although humans dominated the popution, there were also many other species represented in rge numbers.
The popution was mainly divided between 6 rge centers. Five of these had around 200,000 inhabitants. The rgest popution center was the capital and thus also the administrative center for the pnet and the system with a popution of around 350,000. The remaining popution was distributed in smaller cities and communities. All 6 popution centers each had a small spaceport, with the one in the capital being the most developed.
The pnet was rural and characterized by mining, which could also be seen in the pnet's export goods. These were raw ore, which was transported to the Core to be processed there, and foodstuffs, which were also transported to the Core. However, this only happened in small quantities, as the pnet, like many others in the Outer Rim, had no trading fleet. This meant that no big profit could be made and everything was usually sold to other pnets in the Outer Rim or Mid Rim for less profitable prices. Another task for me to change this.
The infrastructure is not so well developed and is almost 150 years old. Around this time, the pnet was also discovered and colonized by the Republic. The pnet had to be colonized because of some kind of quota. After that, however, the popution was left to its own devices. This can also be seen from the fact that the popution has hardly any contact with the rest of the gaxy and are barbarians who do not value culture. At least that's what the former governor's report has always said.
Speaking of the former governor of Astralis IV, he was killed in an uprising after raising taxes to 60%. The Imperial garrison apparently couldn't get the masses under control, or more likely actively participated in the uprising. He must really be in love with himself and incompetent to allow something like this to happen. Another problem for me. An imperial garrison that is not loyal and a popution that resorts to murder. The list goes on and on. Just great.
After I had finished looking through the information about my new home, I made my way to the bridge. Once there, I heard Captain Nivas say, “Vice Admiral on the bridge.” I thanked him and took control of my ship again. And not too te, because at the same moment the Venator left hyperspace. After two days of travel, we were over Ord Mantell, where we were to meet up with the 126 Taskforce. After we received clearance to dock at a military supply depot above the pnet, I contacted the 126. It had already arrived four days ago and was just waiting for us. So, after three hours we were able to set off for the Astralis system as a united task force.
After four more days of traveling, we finally arrived in the Astralis system. Once there, I tried to contact the pnet.
"This is Vice Admiral Aric von Falkenstein. The new governor of the Astralis system. Respond and transmit the release codes to us."
Despite repeating my message several times, I received no reply.
