Chapter 8: The Fire Cloud Demon Lion

Volume 1: First Arrival in Another World Chapter 8: Flame Cloud Demon Lion

Watching his rapidly dwindling companions, Kens' hot tears fell from the corners of his eyes as the "Fire Cloud Demon Lion" hung calmly behind him.

Kens knew in his heart that, relying on the speed of "Huoyunmolion", they could have easily annihilated them all long ago. Now it was just playing with them, and when it got bored, it would be the time of death for the four people.

Looking back at the increasingly fast "Fire Cloud Demon Lion", Kens' heart was filled with a sense of hopelessness, and with a burst of strength, he flung the two people behind him to the front, shouting in a sorrowful voice: "Run quickly, I'll hold it off!" After saying that, he ignored the cries from behind and turned around to face the "Fire Cloud Demon Lion".

Looking at the "Fire Cloud Demon Lion" that was rushing over like a giant mountain, Kens closed his eyes in despair.

After a while, Kens, who was wondering why the attack hadn't come yet, suddenly heard a roar mixed with painful anger coming from behind him. Immediately after, a slightly childish laughter echoed: "Uncle, how much longer are you going to stand there?"

Kens opened his eyes and turned to look at the owner of the voice, a slightly thin boy whose body was weak but emitted a harmonious natural aura. His face was ordinary, but his black pupils were as deep as stars, making people unable to help being drawn into them. A head of short black hair showed off the boy's youthful vitality, and it was Liu Feng who had rushed over quickly after hearing the cry for help.

Kens immediately came to his senses, and hastily said to Liu Feng: "You little brat, why aren't you running away quickly? Can't you see that there's a 7th-tier magical beast 'Fire Cloud Lion' here?"

"Is that what you're referring to, Uncle?" Liu Feng pointed at a giant demonic beast in the distance.

"Nonsense, hurry up. Ah... forget it... Don't run anymore, it's coming, we can only die together, little brother." Kens, who still wanted to persuade Liu Feng to leave, saw the "Fire Cloud Demon Lion" getting up from the ground, shaking its head and walking over, and shook his head in dismay.

"Haha, uncle, don't be afraid, watch me take care of this beast." Liu Feng smiled at Kens, his tone as casual as killing a chicken, holding an iron sword and walking forward to meet the "Fire Cloud Demon Lion".

"Ah... come back... you silly kid. Ah..." Ken shouted, and then was shocked by the scene in front of him that his eyes almost popped out.

As he watched the "Fire Cloud Demon Lion" being forced into a desperate state by a ordinary iron sword in the hands of a young man, Kens suddenly felt that this world had become unfamiliar.

"Is that all the strength of a 7th-tier magical beast?" He shook his head fiercely and said dryly, "It's not that the 'Fire Cloud Lion' is too weak, but that black-haired youth is too strong. Who would have thought that at such a young age, he has already surpassed the strength of a 7th-tier? What will happen in the future?"

Liu Feng's true energy poured into the sword, shooting out a one-inch long sword aura that left a deep gash visible to the bone on the "Fire Cloud Demon Lion"'s head, with hot blood gushing out.

The "Fire Cloud Demon Lion" was hit hard and let out a miserable howl, spitting out several scorching fireballs from its mouth. Taking advantage of Liu Feng's blocking, it quickly retreated several steps, its huge mouth opening and closing continuously, rapidly gathering the nearby fire elements.

Kens, who was watching the fierce battle from the side, shouted loudly: "Hey, little brother, that beast is about to release a large-scale magic spell, hurry up and stop it."

Although Liu Feng had the confidence to take on the large-scale magic of "Fire Cloud Demon Lion", there was still Kens by his side. Large-scale magic usually had a wide range, so in order not to harm innocent bystanders, he could only stop it from releasing its magic.

A stir in the heart: Swift Wind Step... Activated...

The figure quickly disappeared, and on the spot, a residual shadow was left behind. Liu Feng's move made Kens' heart skip a beat outside the field.

A distance of over ten meters was traversed in the blink of an eye, the iron sword in hand bringing with it a tearing wind sound as it rapidly pierced into the open maw of the "Fire Cloud Demon Lion", passing through from top to bottom.

  Draw sword, swift retreat.

In just an instant, this series of events was already completed.

Kens stared foolishly at Liu Feng who appeared before his eyes and asked foolishly: "Is it over?"

Liu Feng saw his expression and couldn't help but shrug his shoulders with a smile, saying: "It's over."

"What kind of person is this?"

"Alright, Uncle, stop spacing out, take this." Interrupting Kens' daze once again, Liu Feng took out the magic core of "Huoyun Demon Lion" and handed it to him.

Looking at the seven-tiered magic crystal in front of him, which was emitting a red glow, Kens' face changed color repeatedly, and his heart was struggling between heaven and man. After a long time, he stretched out his hand to push it away, and said seriously: "Young brother, don't be like this, killing the 'Fire Cloud Magic Lion' is all your own merit, we didn't even exert half of our strength, but instead got tired and had to be rescued by you, how can we accept this?"

Seeing Ken's persistence, Liu Feng hesitated for a moment, then took out two five-stage magic cores from his pocket and said seriously to Ken: "Uncle, since you think the seven-stage magic core is too expensive, I'll just forget it. However, I saw that several of your companions died earlier, so you should pay some money to handle their aftermath and take care of their families. So, please accept these two five-stage magic cores."

Kens looked at the two magic crystals in front of him, his heart wavering. To say he didn't want them was a lie. His mercenary group was currently short on funds, which is why they had risked their lives to hunt magical beasts in the first place. Although he wanted to take them, the other person had just saved his life, so how could he have the nerve to ask for them?

Jian Kens still looked hesitant, Liu Feng angrily said: "Uncle, I think you're a man too, why are you doing things so hesitantly? You should think about it for yourself, and also for the sake of your deceased brothers and their families. They might be the only ones who can earn money in their households."

"Alright, little brother. I, Kens, will first thank you here for my deceased brother. In the future, if there's a place where you need to use me, just say so and I'll go through fire and water for you. If I frown even once, may the gods abandon me and cast me into hell." Kens finally agreed, but still solemnly vowed to Liu Feng.

"Hehe, okay, little Liu Feng, just call me Xiao Feng from now on." Liu Feng laughed happily.

"Well, little brother... Oh, Xiao Feng, let's go back first, this ghost forest, I don't want to stay for a moment."

  "Good."

Outside Death Forest, in Adventure Town, there is Hack's Tavern.

At the crossroads, Kens asked: "Xiao Feng, I'm going to Mercenary Guild to hand over the task now. Where are you heading?"

"I'll head back home first, it's the 'Blazing Fire Tavern' in the small town. If you have any business, come find me." Liu Feng replied with a hint of a smile.

"Haha, I didn't expect that tavern to be your family's business. We should go have a couple of drinks when we're free."

"Good, but that's gonna cost you, haha!"

"That's for sure, you don't pay me and I won't come, I'll leave first."

  "Alright."

Watching Kens disappear at the corner of the street, Liu Feng smiled with satisfaction: "He's really a great guy, bold and meticulous, worth befriending."

"Hey, Old Man Hack, I'm back!" Liu Feng shouted loudly before he even entered the door.

A rapid patter of footsteps echoed through the tavern, and a smiling, weathered face appeared before him - that of old Hark.

"Hey, Ah Feng, you little scamp! It's been so long since you came back, I thought the monsters had eaten you!" Old Man Hack laughed and scolded.

Looking at Hake's sincere smile, Liu Feng felt a warm current in his heart, but he didn't fall behind and retorted: "How could I, the young master with unparalleled martial arts skills, who has punched the North Mountain Devil Tiger and kicked the Deep Sea Dragon, be eaten by a mere magical beast?"

"Haha, you little scamp, your mouth is still as slick as ever." Old Man Hark chuckled and shook his head.

"Heh heh," Liu Feng chuckled and walked forward, putting his arm around Old Man Hack's shoulders, swaying back and forth as they headed into the tavern.
