The Opening Image shows a very young John Job Alcozer sitting in his mother's lap in a grassy park while she reads Biblical stories to him. Job asks her why she gave him his name. Was it because he was to be tested by the Devil? No, she replies, though you will suffer much in this life, I named you Job because God is going to demonstrate His power through you.

(The irony of this statement is that Job, unable to save humanity from extinction, goes on to create an epitaph that is found millions of years in the future by a second sentient, industrialized species that arises on planet Earth, and that helps them avoid the same fate as humans, persisting in time much longer than us thanks to the sacrifice of Job.)
