Chapter Thirteen: The Remains of the Heavenly Palace

Chapter Thirteen: The Remains of the Heavenly Palace

"This is......" Despite having mentally prepared themselves, several people's faces were still filled with disappointment.

Affected by these people, others also looked up at the starry sky and soon discovered the fact that two moons were hanging in the air.

"How could this be?" Many people couldn't help but shout out loud, the last thread of hope to return home was shattered, and they would never see their loved ones again. Many female classmates burst into tears, everyone had already understood that at this moment, they were really far away from Earth and could not return.

"Mars... has two satellites, equivalent to the moon we see on Earth..." Kade muttered to himself in unfluent Chinese, then quickly spoke a lot in English and started talking with Li Xiaoman.

For decades, some space probes have sent back a wealth of information about Mars. The two moons orbiting Mars are extremely small bodies, and when viewed from the Martian surface, Phobos appears about one-third to one-half the size of Earth's Moon, while Deimos appears about one-sixth the size.

Those who knew about Mars said all this, and everyone was deeply disappointed. It seems that there is no way back home now, and the top priority task at present is to find a way to survive.

They had already left the Five-Colored Altar six hundred meters behind, and were much closer to that faint light source, which seemed to be no more than five hundred meters away. The crowd didn't delay any further, continuing on their way forward.

Under the night sky, a gentle breeze brings a hint of coolness.

Proceeding for over a hundred meters, the distance to the light source grew increasingly closer. Just then, someone let out a startled cry, discovering a collapsed building, which seemed to be an ancient pavilion that had toppled over from the erosion of time.

"An artificial structure, this desolate planet should have humans, we must be able to find a way to survive."

"Is this really Mars? Why are there human-like buildings here? The air, temperature, gravity and so on are not much different from those on Earth, it's just like a desert on Earth."

Although it was endless disappointment, people did not despair, they had a lot of doubts.

"We even saw a dragon corpse, what are these then? Maybe this is just a special region on Mars."

"Perhaps. Here stands a grand five-colored altar, which can receive the nine dragon corpses and bronze coffins, and it's not impossible to call this place the sealed land of gods."

"If our guess is true, and this is just a special region on Mars, then our living space may not be very large."

As soon as this was said, everyone fell silent.

"If this is just a small patch of clean land on Mars, what other way out do we have?!"

Everyone's emotions are turbulent, this concerns their life and death and future, no one can be calm.

"Ah......" A female classmate suddenly let out a scream, which echoed exceptionally far in the night sky.

"What's wrong?" The crowd changed color and hastily inquired.

"A skull, a human skull!" The female classmate's face turned pale, her body trembling constantly, and she retreated with a quiver.

Not far from the collapsed pavilion, half of a snow-white skull was exposed in the gravel, and it was just trampled by that female classmate, no wonder she was so terrified.

All the boys gathered around, and Pang Bo kicked the skull out of the sand with his foot. It was obviously an adult's skull, which had been there for many years, almost weathered to dust, and its texture was no longer smooth, with many rough cracks on it.

What's astonishing is that on its forehead, there is a very regular round hole, about the size of a finger, as if it was pierced by a sharp object. The surrounding area of the hole is extremely flat.

"It seems that this place is full of unknowns and variables. Although it's just a withered skeleton, left here many years ago, let's still be careful."

An unfamiliar environment and uncertain factors make one feel a chill in their heart.

  "What's in front of us?"

Under the hazy night sky, the stars and moon are not very bright, only vaguely visible in front of a undulating shadowy outline, like a piece of rugged rocks piled together, uneven and jagged.

As they walked closer, everyone was stunned. This was a wasteland, and the part that blocked their way was only a small portion of it. A much larger expanse of ruins stretched out to the distance.

Ruined walls and broken tiles, a land of rubble, as if telling an unknown story. Under the night moon, this place seems especially desolate, in the past it should have been a magnificent palace, but now it's a bleak scene.

This is a vast expanse of ruins, covering a large area, with the solid foundation entirely composed of massive stones piled up, and one can imagine the grandeur and majesty of this palace in its heyday.

And that light source was at the end of this ruin, behind a broken wall.

"Are we... really on Mars? There used to be a magnificent palace complex here?"

"What a massive project it is, how many people will be needed to complete it?"

"What caused this place to become a ruin, with all the grand and majestic buildings collapsing?"

Almost everyone had forgotten the fear, and the huge ruins in front of them made everyone amazed. If this was really on Mars at this moment, it would be too incredible.

Ye Fan said calmly, "Actually, it's nothing. We've been through a lot today, and by normal logic, none of these things should have happened. Even if someone told me that the vast ruins in front of us were the remains of a heavenly palace, I wouldn't be surprised."

Pang Bo sighed: "The remains of the Heavenly Palace... This is really possible, after all, we have seen the dragon corpse."

Upon hearing these words, everyone was stunned, and the ruins of the Heavenly Palace may not be a myth after all!

The light source was right in front of him, and it gently rippled out from behind the broken wall, creating a faint halo around that place, with an indescribable sense of mystery and holiness.

  "What is it after all?"

The light source at the end of the ancient ruins flows, and the broken walls and residual buildings look more desolate, naturally making people feel extremely mysterious.

  "Hiss", "hiss", "hiss"......

As the crowd trampled over the rubble, a series of echoes rang out, carrying far into the empty night sky. They passed by one palace after another that had collapsed, finally making their way through this vast expanse of ruins. Just ahead, that broken wall, although partially damaged, still stood at least four or five meters high - it was impossible to imagine just how magnificent it must have been in its heyday.

"Let's take a look at what that light source really is!"

A group of people carefully skirted around the massive broken wall, arriving at the end of the ruins, and suddenly felt a refreshing breath that made everyone feel comfortable, as if a divine light flashed across the void, entering everyone's eyes.

Everyone has thoroughly walked out of the ruins and appeared behind the broken wall, clearly seeing the light source in front of them.

Just fifty meters ahead, an ancient temple stands quietly there, with green lamps and old Buddhas, a single lamp light like a bean.

In front of the ancient temple, a Bodhi tree stood tall and strong like a dragon, its entire body dry and withered, except for five or six green leaves scattered about two meters above the ground. Each leaf was crystal clear and translucent, shining with a green light, like jade.
