  I cupped her jaw, wiping a tear with my thumb. Her soft skin was warm and full of life. Unlike the last time, I held her when she was dying.

  "It's alright now, Maya. You can rest and move on from today. I'll give you the future you wanted before I destroyed your life. Our hatred has ceased to exist from now on. You are free, and so am I." I kissed her forehead before laying her motionless body on the couch.

  I picked up the glass from the table and made my way into the kitchen.
