Chapter 9: Phantom Beast Magic

  Insufficient balance

I and Mark arrived at the library, which is really big, with a total of 6 floors, each floor has about 3000 square meters, divided into three areas. The first and second floors are mainly some basic knowledge of magic theory and some primary magic (1-3 levels), the third to fifth floors are intermediate magic (4-5 levels), and the sixth floor is some advanced magic. Mark and I can both reach the second area (there are barriers between areas, and you cannot enter until you reach a certain level). The people on the third to fifth floors are also the most numerous.

I and Mark arrived at the 4th floor, each finding the magic we wanted to see. There were really few books on light system magic, I only found one book on intermediate light system magic and two books on intermediate space system magic. Mark found several books on fire system and wind system magic, and we read them with relish.

The intermediate magic of the light system didn't have anything special that disappointed me, I flipped through a book called "100 Examples of Space Magic in Actual Combat", this was actually very interesting to me, inside were some space system mages' combat experiences that were quite fascinating, before I knew it time had passed.

"Longbow, it's getting dark, let's head back! We still have class tomorrow."

"Alright." By the way, let's find a secluded spot tonight and take a look at my little Illusory Beast, Xiao Jin.

We finished dinner in the cafeteria and returned to our dormitories, Green Hair doesn't dare say anything when he sees me now. The other two roommates are deep in thought, I'm not familiar with them yet and don't know their names, they're so serious at such a young age, it's really impressive.

I quietly arrived at the back yard of the academy, "In my name, my phantom beast Xiao Jin, come to my front and listen to my command." A white light flashed by, and Xiao Jin's lovely figure appeared in front of me. I held him in my hands and looked at him carefully. He seemed to have grown a bit bigger and thicker than when he was just hatched, and had grown quite quickly, all within just one day.

"Xiao Jin, will you be able to learn any magic?" I asked with an expectant heart.

Xiao Jin seemed to not understand, only using its small head to nuzzle me. "Xiao Jin, Light Arrow." It shook its head, and nothing happened. Unbelievable, it's still a growing magical beast, I should be able to control it, what's going on?

"Foolish child, you must communicate with the Illusion Beast from your heart. It won't understand you if you just speak to it like that." A kind voice came over.

"Who?" I quickly turned around, an old man wearing a plain white magician robe (ordinary magician robe without rank) appeared behind me.

"Who are you? Are you a teacher at school?"

"Really? I'm a light system magician just like your major in magic!" The old man came to me and patted my head.

"Why don't you try communicating with your contracted beast from the heart and see if it works?"

"Alright!" Anyway, I had no choice, so I'll just try it out. I focused my mind and through the spiritual connection with Xiao Jin, told him to release a light arrow and informed him of its usage method and effect. Xiao Jin first looked at me, then a faint layer of white light emerged from his body, and a light arrow shot out from his mouth, snapping a nearby flower in two.

"Also, succeeded." I was overjoyed to know how to make Xiao Jin release magic. After Xiao Jin finished releasing the magic, his whole body went soft, as if he had used up all his strength, and I quickly summoned him back onto my body.

  "Thank you, old man."

"You have a magical talent, you've mastered the method of communicating with fantasy beasts so quickly. Not bad. Are you willing to learn light system magic with me?" The old man bowed down and asked me face to face.

Ah! Don't be like that, I don't want someone controlling me.

"No need, no need, I prefer to study on my own. Goodbye, old man, I'm going back to sleep now, I have class tomorrow." I quickly turned around and ran away, I didn't want to run into a devil of a teacher again.

The old man with a white beard looked at my gradually disappearing back and muttered to himself: "Having personality, others want me to be their master but I don't accept them. Unexpectedly, when I want to take on an apprentice, they don't even follow me, haha." He couldn't help but shake his head.

Back in the dormitory, Green Hair had already gone to sleep and was playing chess with Lord Zhou. The other two were still deep in thought. I lay on my bed and began to communicate with my Light Element Uncle and Aunt. The light element surged into me from my brow, and I slowly gathered some of it throughout my body, while gathering another part to Little Jin. Little Jin transmitted a wave of joyful emotions to me, looking very satisfied.

Recently, no matter how hard I tried to cultivate my powers, it seemed like they had reached a plateau. It was as if my body was a bottle that was already full, and there was no way for me to increase my powers any further. Rather than staying in this state, I thought it would be better to transfer more of my light elements to Xiaojin. As I began to slowly transmit more light elements to Xiaojin, I could feel his body growing stronger under the influence of my pure energy. It was a very fulfilling feeling, like nurturing a child. (You're still just a kid yourself.) Maintaining this state, I drifted off to sleep.

  ……

Mark came to find me early in the morning to have breakfast together, today's breakfast was quite sumptuous, with steamed buns, eggs, porridge, milk and so on. I think I ate 2 steamed buns, 3 eggs, plus a bowl of porridge and a bowl of milk. My classmates next to me were stunned, even the teacher in the cafeteria started considering whether to increase my meal allowance. Who cares what they think, I'll eat first and talk later. "Full, let's go, Mark, time for class."

We bounced and jumped into the classroom, wow, everyone else was already there, including the green-haired stinker. Did I get the class time wrong? No way, it's definitely 30.

"Chang Gong, Mark, hurry up to your seat. From now on, we need to arrive at the classroom half an hour earlier every day. We are Class A, and it's different from other classes." The head teacher seems to be very easy-going, yesterday she introduced herself as Xiu Lan Li Ya.

"Yes, Teacher Xiulang." I stuck out my tongue at Mark and quickly returned to our respective seats.

"Alright, class. Let's begin today's lesson. Our main topic is the long-distance teleportation magic array." Ms. Xiūlán started lecturing non-stop about the origins of the magic array, how to use it, and so on and so forth. These old devils had already taught me all this before, I wanted to sleep. The last thing I heard was something about the importance of positioning for long-distance teleportation arrays... and then the next thing I knew, I woke up to the sound of "class dismissed".
