Pandora continued to head South through the Shadows when she saw a ripple from horizon to horizon and from the ground up into the sky as far as she could see. She was in the Plane of Shadow, there shouldn’t be a shimmer of any kind. Before she could do anything about it, the shimmer hit and passed over her. She felt nauseous for a moment and dropped from the sky toward the city in shadows below her.
Pandora spread her wings and willed herself to come in for landing as she felt something rip through and change her body.
Pandora are you okay, Caspa’s voice asked in her mind
Caspa, how are you talking to me like this, normally you have to message me. You feel closer somehow, Pandora thought to Caspa.
Before Caspa could respond, messages began populating her vision.

SYSTEM Shops are now available in any SYSTEM-registered Village, Town, or City. By default, all cities with a population of 1 million people now have access to a SYSTEM Shop. As new villages, towns, and cities are registered SYSTEM Shop access will become available once purchased. See your nearest SYSTEM Shop for availability and pricing. To register a Village, Town, or City that does not have a SYSTEM Shop please travel to an active SYSTEM Shop and do so.
The environment, flora, and fauna may be modified by the presence of Mana. Creatures and Plants will grow at an extremely accelerated rate. As you interact with the plants, creatures, and monsters that appear the Class System will become available to you once you unlock it.
To unlock a Class within the system you must do one of three things:
1 - Defeat or Kill a SYSTEM creature or Monster. Note: the level and rarity of the creature or monster that you kill can affect the classes that become available to you.
2 - Defeat or Kill any creature or being that possesses a Class with The SYSTEM. Note: Killing millions of beings that do not possess a class within the SYSTEM will NOT unlock your access to the Class System.
3 - Craft something utilizing SYSTEM-generated materials. Note: The Rarity and Level of the materials used in the creation of the crafted item can affect the classes that become available to you. The final rarity and level of the created crafted item do NOT affect these choices only the materials used.
Pandora keyed in on the word “Reset” and opened her Status Screen and looked at her information.

“Chaos Symbiote” – During your travel through Primal Chaos, a Symbiote attached itself to you. The Symbiote gained full sentience and Caspa became a permanent part of you, during the conversion into The SYSTEM after The Foundation was formed. Experience Points and Levels were reset to 0 and all Abilities were reviewed and modified. Caspa did not like this and hid her true nature from the order-based System. As part of you, she adds 10 to all of your base attributes and increases Pandora's Chaos attribute by 100.
Perks
Malleable Body (Creature of Chaos) - Pandora may convert chaos to Hit Points, Stamina, Mana, and Psychic Energy on a one-for-one basis. The Chaos Attribute Regenerates at a rate of 2 points per second

What in the actual hell?
Pandora went over her information again. She’d lost all of her absorption abilities and her Legendary Orbs had somehow fused with her. She reached for the box in her shadow storage
Ability, Perk, or Skill not available!
That sucks! Caspa said into her mind
Yes. Yes it does, Pandora agreed
Pandora willed the orbs to take up a defensive position around her. Suddenly all 21 orbs were floating around her like she was the nucleus of an Atom. She willed the fire orb to hover before her and a red orb stopped in front of her. She reached out and grabbed it. It felt like a normal orb. It felt solid in her clawed dragon hand. Pandora released the orb and it joined the other orbs orbiting her.
Pandora’s Experience Points had been reduced back to zero and her attributes were considerably lower than they were before. She hadn’t chosen a class before so no great loss there. She went back up to the messages and tried to figure out what had happened. Dad had said he was trying to fix something. Had they been inside another pocket universe or something? Well, that didn’t matter. She tried to pull up other functions of her Status Screen to get more information or even see a map of the area she was in and instead received another message.
Status Functionality Must be unlocked first. Please Unlock access to your first class.
Pandora looked around, she was in the middle of a three-way intersection but it was hard to tell where she was in comparison to the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Shadows Plane. All the buildings were indistinct without any markings that let you know what they represented. Pandora jumped in the air until she came to the replica of the Trinty River. She’d follow the river southeast until it intersected Highway 45.
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Once she reached the highway she knew she was close to her destination and chose a shadow under the highway to pass through back into the material plane and immediately climbed into the sky as she tried to send a message to Abi,
“Abi, you there,” Pandora said out loud.
Pandora waited a few moments. When nothing happened she tried again, “Abi?”
Pandora thought for a moment and then one of her mother's memories came to her. Her father had explained how normal nanites sometimes didn’t work in a mana-rich environment. He’d worked around that by using his chaos to create chaotic nanites that the mana couldn’t shut down.
Wait, if the reset had killed the nanites, did that mean everyone else was falling to their death or had already died? Pandora put that out of her mind. Abi had said she had the nanites creating a place for them to land. Hopefully, they had landed before this happened. Also, it wasn’t something she could worry about right now.
Pandora flew the last half mile and saw the sewage treatment tanks. It was a simple thing to find a landing place. Near one of the cave-like structures that went underground. As she entered the cave she passed back into the Plane of Shadow and switched to her human form as she landed in a burst of shadows. On this side of the dimensional barrier, there was nothing around. While the Plane of Shadow was coming back to life, none of the creatures near her wanted to mess with a dragon and they all gave her a wide berth, which was exactly what she wanted.
Having spent 100 mana to land in human form she looked down and realized that she was naked. It was Interesting that the reset had taken her clothes. It looked like it was time to try out her new ability Mold Chaos. Pandora created a simple set of black jeans and a black shirt with matching underwear. Nothing fancy. She watched as her chaos attribute went from “200” to “197/200” and then 2 seconds later was back to “200.” That was interesting. Another nice aspect of the perk was that she could make the item materialize anywhere she was touching so she did so with the clothes covering her body. It might not be a wardrobe inventory system but it would do. Next, she converted 96 Chaos to Mana to replace the mana she’d used to switch from Dragon Form to Human Form which was still down 96 points. That brought her mana back up to 276.
That aspect of her Chaos Attribute was going to be very nice. She only regenerated mana, stamina, and hit points at 1 per second but she regenerated Chaos at 2 per second. That meant that instead of waiting 1 minute and 40 seconds to recover 100 points from any of those three attributes, she could replenish them immediately and let her Chaos attribute recover in only 50 seconds. If there was a way for her to increase her chaos attribute or her ability to recover Chaos attribute faster that would give her an extreme advantage.
Now that she’d been reset to level 0 Pandora decided to try to be smart about confronting the queen. She was nowhere near as powerful as she’d been just an hour ago. Of course with the Sandworm Matriarch as an example, she could just use the orbs to take care of the queen and maybe even clear out the rest of the city. It might take a little bit but the people in the surrounding area should be able to move back into Dallas and clean it up after she took care of their spider problem. That was if the mana saturation didn’t mess everything up of course.
Pandora continued deeper into the underground complex as she looked through the shadows back into the Prime Material Plane. She noticed a lot of the smaller spider drones and even a few of the warrior versions of the Araknis spiders but found no sign of the queen for almost an hour. Finally, she entered a giant underground cavern that looked to the empty inside of one of the treatment containers. Up in the ceiling, she could easily see a spider that was as big as she was in dragon form resting on the webs.
Not one for messing around, Pandora stuck her hand through one of the shadows and directed all 21 orbs to attack. Over the next minute, Pandora watched as the orbs struck the Araknis Queen and bounced off over and over. This caused the other Araknis spiders in the chamber to enter a frenzy as they tried to stop the orbs. Eventually, the queen sided up to a wall with her belly against it and hunkered down.
Pandora tried to pull up her Combat Log and nothing happened. She tried to do so again and received the message about unlocking access again.
Unlock access to your first class to unlock further SYSTEM Access.
Well, that was just stupid. How was she supposed to know how she was doing in her very first combat in the SYSTEM if she couldn’t see her combat log? Fine! Pandora looked at the way the Araknis Queen was up against the wall while she had the orbs return to her. She pulled her hand back through the shadow portal and made her way over to the wall directly underneath the Spider Queen's belly. If she couldn’t kill it from the outside because they weren’t able to get through the Queen’s damage resistance then maybe she could take advantage of her greater strength and punch one of the orbs through the outer shell by throwing it and have the other 20 orbs follow it into the Queen and then turn her insides into goo. Eventually, she would die, if Pandora was right. Without the Combat Log to check, she’d just have to hope this worked.
Pandora picked up the Nullification Orb Prepared the other 20 orbs and threw the orb through the shadow into the Queen's belly as she commanded the rest of the orbs to follow the orb into the creature and then start traveling around the inside of the creature in an every widening pattern while remaining inside the body.
Immediately the queen jumped away from the wall as two of its legs struck the point where her orb had exited the Plane of Shadow. Other than that the Queen didn’t look to be affected even though Pandora knew that all 21 orbs were inside the Queen. She watched the Queen as it moved around the webbing along the ceiling. During the 1st minute, nothing seemed to happen and then the queen staggered a bit. Another minute passed before she started to stagger again but this time the staggering was accompanied by a spurt of fluid from the hole that had been made in the Queen’s Abdomen. It seemed that the orbs were working.
Pandora continued to watch the Queen by changing her vantage point as the Queen moved around the Cavern. As time went on the Queen's movements became more frenzies as it looked like she was looking for whatever was causing her so much pain. While she couldn’t see what the time was, it felt like almost 20 minutes had passed before she received the message she’d been waiting for
Congratulations! You have unlocked The SYSTEM by defeating an Advanced Mythic Creature you have gained the Title Exterminator.
Exterminator - Once per 24-hour period, you may designate a single target as your primary target. Doing so reduces all mana, stamina, and psychic energy costs for any attacks against the target until the target is dead or an hour has passed. Additionally, all damage is increased by 7 times. This Title is scalable and will receive an upgrade every time you kill a creature that is of higher Rarity than yourself. The upgrade will be dependent on the difference in Rarity.
XP and Treasure will be awarded after you choose your first class. Please open your Status Screen and choose your class under the Class Tab.
Pandora pulled up her Class Tab
Class Selection Process activated. Available Class List is populating, please wait.
While she waited Pandora stuck her hand through a portal and willed the orbs back to her. There was a burst from the head of the Queen as orbs exited and flew toward her hand. As soon as they touched her they were absorbed back into her body. Pandora withdrew her hand from the shadow portal and waited.
A moment later Messages started scrolling down her vision.
Congratulations! The following Tier 1 Classes are available to you based on your Attributes, Abilities, Titles, and Perks.
At Tier 1 only Basic, Scarce, or Rare Classes may be available for you to choose from. While any Tier 1 class can garner access to Tier 2 classes, it becomes easier to meet Tier 2 Prerequisites if you have either a Scarce or Rare Class. If you qualify for a Tier 2 Class you may be given the choices of Advanced and Master Classes. Those with a Tier 2 Master Class will have a better chance of qualifying for a Tier 3 Epic Class. Tier 4 and 5 Classes, if qualified for, only consist of Mythic, and Legendary Classes in that order.
Note: Class level progression is slower with each Rarity Rank. Level progression for Scarce classes requires twice as much XP. Rare Classes require triple the amount of XP to increase one level. Tier 2 Advance Classes require 10 times as much XP as a Basic Class per level. Tier 2 Master Classes require twice as much XP as a Tier 2 Advanced Class. Tier 3 Classes require 10 times as much XP as an Advanced Class. Tier 4 requires 10 times as much XP as a Tier 3 Class. Finally, Tier 5 requires 10 times as much XP as Tier 4 Classes.
Please review each class and then choose one.
A list of classes started scrolling through Pandora’s vision. As far as she could tell it was just a list of class titles and didn’t contain any additional information. Pandora sent a thought to Caspa
Any chance you can help me alphabetize and sort this list? Pandora asked.
Already on it. It looks like there are a lot of classes you’d recognize, like this one, Caspa said as the messages in her mind stopped and Class information for a Fighter appeared.

Pandora looked over the information on the Shadow Adept and had to admit that the class would take the advantage she had as an Umbral Dragon and step it up. But that had just been a scarce class.
What about the Rare classes? Pandora asked.
Well, there are quite a few, including some that I don’t think you’d like, Caspa sent as she listed five classes.
Mentalist – A master of the mind and mental magic that utilizes both to subdue foes and help allies. While not focused on one or the other type of power you may use both with few drawbacks.
Psionicist – You are a master of Psychic Energy and receive bonuses with any Psychic ability and an extremely high mental defense.
Soulcrafter – There is life after death. Knowing this you have unlocked a path of abilities that will allow you to capture souls and utilize them for other purposes as the name of this class implies.
Soulhealer – Souls can be fractured and traumatized. This class focuses on the healing of the body and the soul. As this class progresses it focuses more on the repair and healing of the soul.
Soulreaver – Souls can be fractured and traumatized. Soulreavers know this because they are the ones fracturing and traumatizing souls. Warning! Choosing this class comes with some serious social and political drawbacks.
While they appear interesting they’re not going to help you here. Well the Mentalist or the Psionicist class might but I was thinking about a class that plays more to your Chaotic Nature or Race, Caspa said as a few more Rare classes were listed.
Anarchist – A master of chaos, the Anarchist thrives on disarray in this hybrid fighter and mage class. The only other thing that can be said about the Anarchist is that the class and how it progresses is unpredictable.
Maker – This Chaos-based class is for those creatures of chaos that can shape and mold chaos into various forms. The Maker is that, an individual that molds and shapes Chaos to make anything they desire. This is not a combat class.
Umbral Dragon – Only available to Umbral Dragons. This is a Race-based class and augments the Race of the individual.
Creature of Chaos – Only available to Creatures of Chaos. This is a Race-based class and augments the Race of the Individual.
What about you Caspa, What choices were you given?
I wasn’t. It looks like we have been melded together permanently. I cannot see where you start or I do, though our minds are still separate it seems. Maybe we have a split personality? Caspa offered.
Good to know and I don’t think it's that. It just means I can’t lose you again. Pandora said.
Ha ha. So, Any idea what Class you want to choose? Caspa asked.
I’m leaning toward Maker, Umbral Dragon, or Creature of Chaos, Pandora offered questioningly
Honestly, I don’t think there’s anything the Maker class can offer you, or us that you can’t get from the Creature of Chaos class. If you’re choosing that class so you can maximize your advantage with Chaos, let's keep it with the Race. If we’re trying to maximize physical damage, we need to pick Umbral Dragon. Caspa said.
Your logic is sound, I think we’ll go with Creature of Chaos, Pandora agreed.
Pandora made her choice.
Congratulations! You have chosen the Rare Class Creature of Chaos
Class: Creature of Chaos
This is a Race-based class and augments the Race of the Individual.

Pandora looked over the class and realized that it was giving her skills that were like the abilities she had previously. Of course, there were no attack-based skills but she had the orbs so she should be okay. As she was about to review her Status screen more messages started scrolling down her vision.

Of course with 1 extra point per level and 3 extra points every 5 levels for three of her attributes, including the first she had some extra points. She looked over her Attributes and when she was done she was quite satisfied with her attributes which were all 40 or greater.

As she finished looking over her attributes more messages popped up.
Would you like to allocate your free skill points toward your existing class skills, or would you like to purchase a new skill?
Error! You are not in a SYSTEM Shop, at a Merchant Shop, or being taught by a skill trainer. Please visit a SYSTEM Shop, Merchant Shop, or Skill Trainer to use skill points to acquire new non-class skills OR spend your skill points on your current Class Skills.
Would you like to spend two of your skill points to increase one of your class skills to level 2?
Pandora Thought Yes and chose Conversion
The Skill “Conversion” has been raised from Level 1 to Level 2. The following changes are applied immediately.
Conversion: Convert Hit Points, Stamina, Mana, or Psychic Energy into Chaos Attribute Points. Conversion Rate 9 for 1 Chaos Attribute Point. Cannot increase Chaos Attribute above maximum level. Upgraded (2 of 10 times)
Pandora decided to wait to spend any more of her skill points until she’d had a chance to see what she could get from the SYSTEM Shop. She decided that she needed to head north to her friends and family, she could always come back and take care of these spiders later. With everything she’d just read there had been some major changes to the SYSTEM and how leveling worked. They might need her up there. Plus if the first creature they killed in some way helped them, she needed to be there to help with that.
Pandora made her way out of the underground tunnels until she was back outside and then jumped into the air and shifted to her Dragon form. She converted 100 of her Chaos to Mana and allowed her Chaos to replenish at a faster rate as she began flying North East.
Once outside the Dallas metro she slipped back into the Prime Material plane and began flying. One interesting thing she noticed. While her stamina wouldn’t return while she was flying she could convert her Chaos to Stamina which was returning twice as fast as her stamina could anyway. After she’d flown for about an hour and wasn’t feeling tired she just kept on going and used her Chaos attribute to replenish her Stamina as needed. There were no vehicles in the sky and very few flying creatures. The few times she saw one they were far below her and gave her a wide berth. It was time to get to the Northern Territories and discover what had happened to her friends and family. Then, she could help them level. Now that she wasn’t as fast as she had been this flight was going to take a little while. Maybe Abi would be able to reach out to her before she made it back?
Just as she had that thought she saw the sleek shape of an air vehicle vectoring toward her at incredible speed. It would seem that Abi had been able to keep the aircraft flying. As the craft drew closer it slowed down as it took up a holding position to her right.
Abi’s voice called out from a speaker on the vehicle, There’s an airlock on the back, we’ll drop the ramp, just swap back into your human form and come aboard.”
Pandora nodded and made her way to the back of the ship and came in for a landing as she entered the Plane of Shadow and then exited into the Airlock in her human form. It was a lot easier to do it that way and not miss the small platform which was still moving forward. The slipstream from the vehicle could have pushed her back and off.
The Airlock closed and Pandora stepped through into a cabin that contained her family friends and even her head of security and Mistress Carpenter.
“You done playing with monsters yet?” Cedrik called out
“Nope, not at all?” Pandora said as she displayed a grin and found an open seat to sit down.
As she sat a glass of water materialized near her, “Abi. So the nanites are working?”
Abi answered through a speaker, Not exactly. These nanites are from your father and they are made out of chaos. They held together after I lost contact with all of my other nanites.”
“Lucky for you?” Pandora said
“Not really, Adam had failsafes built into the nanites. If I had lost complete control and the vehicle had evaporated due to that loss of control the nanites were programmed to get all the occupants to the ground safely by forming parachute harnesses on each of us.”
“Dad really has thought of everything?” Pandora said wonderingly
“Not everything, obviously,” Amanda said which brought a short laugh from everyone on the plane.
“Pandora looked around the aircraft as she felt it accelerate under her before she asked, “So what now?”
