Chapter Fifty-Three: The Arbitrary Gate
After telling some of the rules of the competition to a group of freshmen.
The instructor began collecting various magical components from these fifty new students and then each person was given a staff and five low-grade magic crystals.
Fajing is a magical ore that can be held in one's hand to rotate spiritual energy, allowing for quick absorption and recovery of magical power. It is also an essential item for cultivation.
Such a low-grade crystal ball can only recover the magic of a one-star wizard after absorbing for half an hour, and its magic will be exhausted.
The staff is the lowest level of peach wood staff, which can increase magic power and magic damage by about 10%.
"Now, come with us."
After the distribution was completed, under the leadership of the instructor, fifty newly selected freshmen walked into the white building and came to the second floor of the white building. The entire vast second floor was empty, with only a huge metal door frame without a door panel. On both sides of the door frame were the arched shapes of harps, wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, hollow and solitary, standing alone in the center.
The newcomers looked around in confusion, unsure what their instructor meant by bringing them here. Were they supposed to have a showdown in a place like this?
"Arbitrary Gate!" Seeing that metal gate, Denox had a thought in Xiao Chen's mind.
"What is the Any Door?" asked Xiao Chen.
"The Arbitrary Gate is a type of spatial magic, somewhat similar to the teleportation array. To be able to touch the secrets of space, at least one must be a Grandmaster. I stayed at the peak of the Nine-Star Mage for over a hundred years and still couldn't comprehend the secrets of space, unable to advance to become a Grandmaster. If I were a Grandmaster, I could use the Arbitrary Gate to traverse space at will, and I wouldn't have ended up in this situation." Denoxus revealed a hint of longing and envy.
The first of the nine-star middle-aged law enforcement officers came to the metal door, and embedded several sparkling magic gems into several recesses on the metal door.
Buzz!
Within the door frame, a layer of transparent purple light emerged, the light was like water and waves, gently rippling.
"Classmates, line up and enter one by one."
A mentor standing by the door directed, and a silver-haired girl who was lined up in front walked into any door first. The purple light inside the door rippled slightly, and she disappeared inside the door.
"What's going on?"
"Kristy, where did she go?"
The newborns in the field were shocked, and some people even showed panic. The light inside the metal door was transparent and could be seen through, but when people walked in, they disappeared, beyond their imagination.
"Quiet!" a mentor shouted sternly: "This is the Arbitrary Gate, which can transmit you into the trial field. Don't be alarmed, hurry in."
"It was actually a random portal, I saw it in an ancient magic book, only great mages can create such a space transmission door, didn't expect it to be like this."
"Wow, spatial magic is so powerful."
"I never thought I'd see spatial magic in this lifetime, let alone get to use it. When I go back, my friends definitely won't believe me."
New students were all whispering excitedly and couldn't wait to walk in.
"Hey, you idiots, just wait and see, you'll be crying next." De Knox sneered with malice.
"What's going on, Denox?" asked Xiao Chen.
"You'll know soon enough, master."
Soon, it was Xiao Chen's turn. As he stepped through the gate, he felt a strong surge of spiritual energy, and his vision was filled with countless swirling lights that seemed to pull him in like a whirlpool, causing a severe dizziness. His spirit stirred, and the dizziness disappeared, revealing an unfamiliar scene before his eyes.
Under his feet was a patch of yellow earth, and behind him was a shimmering purple portal. Centered on that portal, a huge egg-shaped magical light shield enveloped the surroundings, making it impossible for them to see the outside scenery.
At his feet, the new lives that had come before him were scattered all over the ground, except for a small number of spiritually resilient ones who sat on the ground with pale faces meditating, while the rest fell to the ground, holding their heads and rolling around, constantly groaning.
"Ugh... it's so unbearable, I feel like all my internal organs are going to come out. A newborn retched, continuously spitting up sour water."
"Ahio~~ What kind of arbitrary door is this? I'm getting a headache to death."
……
"Hah, these fools think crossing space is fun? With just that little spiritual power, they can't withstand the intense dizziness brought by the rapid flow of space. Haven't you seen even those instructors don't dare to come in? Master, you're fine, your spiritual power is comparable to a mage's, this pressure shouldn't affect you." Denox explained with schadenfreude.
Xiao Chen speechlessly stared at Dennox, this old fellow, who had lived for several hundred years, what was there to be happy about?
At this time, a voice that seemed to be laughing but not quite came from one of the doors: "New students, passing through any door will cause intense spiritual distortion, causing severe dizziness and headaches. However, these are all normal phenomena, and you can recover after meditating for half an hour. This half-hour is also your preparation time. Half an hour later, the magical light shield covering you will disappear, and the competition will begin. Fifty old students will be randomly divided into ten groups at any location in the trial field. The arbitrary door will be closed during the three hours of the competition, and after the competition ends, the arbitrary door will reopen. You will return here again to gather, just come out."
After finishing speaking, the voice disappeared, and the purple light in the metal door frame also slowly faded away.
"What's going on? We have to go back from here again? Damn it, it's going to be the death of us!"
Upon hearing that voice, the newly born who had suffered greatly one by one cried out to heaven and earth with grievances, but the arbitrary door had already closed, presumably no one would hear their voices anymore.
Xiao Chen sat in an inconspicuous corner, pretending to be deep in thought, but actually observing his surroundings.
About ten minutes later, people began to wake up one after another.
The first one to wake up was the silver-haired girl who had been standing at the very front.
The girl looked very young, only thirteen or fourteen years old, with a petite figure, but she had a head of silver hair that reached her waist, even her eyebrows were silver, her skin was as white and cold as snow, her eyes were long and narrow like a phoenix, her expression was indifferent, wearing a white robe, in this hot weather, it still gave people a chilly feeling.
With such an eye-catching temperament, Xiao Chen thought it would be hard not to recognize him even if he didn't want to.
He already knew that this person was the only one in this new life who possessed a variant body, the owner of the ice and snow body, Kristy.
Her cultivation was only a one-star methodist, but she was the first to recover among this group of freshmen, which made Xiao Chen feel the gap in talent.
Next, one after another, those students who had reached two-star level in their new lives also woke up.
After more than half a time, except for a few who had not fully recovered, most people woke up. As soon as these people woke up, they walked around and pressed on the magic shield, only to find that they could not leave. One by one, they returned to their original place and gathered together.
This time, the fifty new lives were selected based on their innate talents, so the four legal systems did not have an equal number of people.
The crowd waiting at the scene was unfamiliar with each other, their eyes darting back and forth, their faces gloomy, as if calculating something. After all, this confrontation match had rich rewards that made people's eyes turn red: Ming Shen Cao, a high-grade magic wand made by a master-level equipment refiner, and the most coveted, a Magic Core worth a city. Each of these was enough to drive someone crazy, but there were fifty people on the scene, and only five could obtain the reward, destined to be a minority.
Who wouldn't want it?
