Chapter 96: Forcing a Japanese Sergeant to Confess
Wang Jiagui and a dozen or so snipers saw the village that Dao Lanxiang had mentioned half an hour later.
The Burmese residents, the vast majority of whom live in river valleys and plains, saw a village with two or three hundred households. Under the starry sky, they could vaguely see rows of densely packed rooftops, with some houses emitting faint lights. The sound of dogs barking echoed throughout the village.
Wang Jiagui dispersed the soldiers to take cover, and he alone walked forward for another one or two hundred meters, climbing up a large tree to observe the movements inside the fort.
The village up the river is connected by a highway, which seems to be heading towards Dongguacheng. Along the highway at the edge of the village, many trucks and three-wheeled motorcycles with canvas covers are parked. In the center of the village, near the riverbank, there is a large courtyard that appears to be the residence of a wealthy family, where the most lights are lit. Wang Jiagui uses his sniper rifle's scope to observe this courtyard, seeing two guards at the entrance, and two lanterns hanging in front of the gate. After entering, it is the first courtyard, almost all rooms are lit, behind which is a small courtyard, where there are Japanese soldiers coming and going. Among them, a Japanese soldier who came out of one room had a satisfied and lustful smile on his face, with both hands still pulling up his pants, while in the courtyard, dozens of bare-chested officers were waiting in line.
Wang Jiagui took a look and understood eight or nine out of ten: "These beasts! Most likely they are bullying those few captured nurses!" He slowly moved the scope, seeing that there were three teams patrolling inside the stronghold. One team was walking back and forth around the trucks and motorcycles parked at the entrance of the highway, one team was zigzagging through the stronghold, and another team was on the riverbank facing his direction. Each patrol team had about ten people, all with German Shepherds on leashes. Wherever they patrolled, the barking of the dogs would attract the dogs inside the stronghold to bark wildly.
After observing the situation of the stronghold clearly, Wang Jia Gui climbed down the tree and returned to the sniper team's ambush position.
"We must capture one alive, and no one is allowed to fire a shot unless absolutely necessary. Use bayonets instead. There's a patrol of ten men ahead, all devils except for the leader, Sergeant Cao. Not a single one can be left alive!" Wang Jia-gui assigned tasks to his soldiers: "Each of you will take care of one, including that dog. I'll handle Sergeant Cao myself. Let's move out!"
A dozen or so people followed Wang Jia Gui, advancing in a serpentine manner, using the bamboo groves and trees along the shore as cover, quietly closing in on the patrol team by the riverbank.
The wolf dog seemed to have smelled the human scent, and the Japanese devils' patrol team had already turned around and walked in the direction of the village, but that damn wolf dog turned its head, barking wildly, and immediately alerted the ten patrolling devils, who took the guns from their shoulders, pulled up the bolts, and ran towards Wang Jia Gui's side with the wolf dog.
"Damn it!" Wang Jia Gui only then realized he had made a big mistake, not listening to Dong Li Mao's words, ignoring the difference between beasts and humans. But now regret was too late, that wolf dog led ten patrolling little devils closer and closer to their ambush point. He gave a low order: "Except for that sergeant, each of you aim at one, must kill with one shot!" And he, aimed his gun at that damn wolf dog.
A dozen or so warriors said one after another: "I'll shoot the second from the left... I'll shoot the third... I'll shoot the first from the right..."
Wang Jiagui's gun rang out, and the wolf dog's head burst open. The other warriors' guns also rang out, quickly and neatly taking down the nine people around the soldier. After Wang Jiagui shot and killed the wolf dog, he swiftly aimed his gun at the soldier, who raised his own gun to prepare for a shot. Wang Jiagui took aim at the soldier's right shoulder, fired decisively, and knocked him to the ground with one shot. Then, he rushed forward and trampled the wounded soldier underfoot.
At this time, the sound of gunfire and people's voices came from the stockade, all rushing in this direction. Wang Jiagui saw that the soldier was still unconscious, stretched out his hand to grab the collar of his clothes, and dragged him into the ambush bamboo forest like a dead dog.
Dong Li Mao heard the gunshot and knew that Wang Jia Gui and his men had encountered trouble, so he loudly ordered the special agent team to rush over quickly.
Wang Jiagui dragged the soldiers into the bamboo forest, and the Japanese devils who rushed out of the village shouted and charged towards the shore.
Wang Jiagui saw that so many devils had rushed out, and he knew that with just over a dozen snipers, they couldn't hold them back. He ordered a retreat to the rear, his left hand holding a gun, his right hand pulling the collar of the soldier's neck, bowing his waist as he retreated. Bullets whizzed past his ears, and the well-trained sniper squad soldiers covered each other as they withdrew, kneeling down to shoot at the devils running in front. They retreated for several hundred meters, but the situation became increasingly dangerous, with more and more devils rushing up.
When Dong Li Mao and his men arrived, the Japanese devils were about to surround Wang Jia Gui and his men. The special agent company immediately joined the battle, Zhang Da Li's machine gun squad, more than a dozen machine guns roared at the same time, suppressing the Japanese army that was chasing Wang Jia Gui and his men.
Wang Jiagui dragged the soldier to Dong Li Mao's side and threw him on the ground, roughly telling him about the situation in the camp he had just observed, then turned around and ran back up to join the battle.
Dong Li Mao's foot was planted on Bing Cao's right shoulder, which had been shot through, and the pain caused Bing Cao to wake up with a loud wail.
"Liu, ask him how many devils are in his village?" Dong Li Mao said to Liu Xingyu.
Liu Xingyu squatted down and asked the soldier in Japanese. Unexpectedly, this devil was still very arrogant and shouted loudly several times.
"What did he say?" Dong Li Mao asked Liu Xing Yu.
"He scolded us as a group of Chinese pigs!" Liu Xingyu said.
"Mutt!" Dong Li Mao drew his sword and stabbed it into the wound of the soldier: "I'll see if you can learn to oink like a pig!"
The soldiers suddenly began shouting and screaming like pigs being slaughtered.
"Make him speak quickly, otherwise I'll castrate him!" Dong Li Mao said to Liu Xing Yu, pulling the military knife out of the soldier's wound and using the tip to cut open his pants, revealing a small section of black intestine. He then pressed the sharp blade against it.
This trick really worked, and the soldier seemed to care about this little guy of his own, and was actually afraid that Dong Li Mao would cut it off, shocked with eyes wide open, and began to answer Liu Xingyu's questions very cooperatively.
"He said they were from the 13th Division Transportation Brigade, with over 200 combat troops and over 300 non-combat troops, totaling over 600 people." Liu Xingyu translated the soldier's response for Dong Limao.
"Are you going to ask him where the captured nurse and wounded soldier are? Was a general with glasses caught?" Dong Li Mao's knife slowly drew a line, cutting out a bloody mark on the dog's intestine.
Diao Lanxiang couldn't bear to see Dong Li Mao torturing the soldiers and turned her head away.
Perhaps the devils had some scruples and did not send more troops, but were instead forced back step by step by Zhao Yong and Zhang Dali into the stockade, turning the unfavorable situation around and gradually gaining the upper hand.
Liu Xingyu continued to translate the reply of the soldier: "He said that all the wounded were killed, and four nurses were locked in the backyard of the Tusi's house. The injured general who wore glasses was not captured on a bamboo raft in the river, but was caught in the afternoon before they arrived here. Because his injuries were too severe, he was sent to the field hospital of the 13th Division before nightfall."
"We're too late!" Dong Li Mao sighed, and with a swift motion, he cut off the section of intestine that was strangling Bing Cao, who fainted again from the pain.
Jianlan Xiang and Liu Xingyu shivered all over, but in their hearts they felt that there was something wrong with Dong Li Mao's actions.
Dong Li Mao wiped his sword clean on the soldier's clothes, stood up, and faced the direction of the village, saying: "It seems we have no choice but to force our way through!" After finishing speaking, he ran towards Zhao Yong who was resisting the Japanese army.
"Commander, I'm afraid it's not easy to rush into the village for the time being. I'm worried that if we take too long, the captured nurses and wounded soldiers will be in danger!" Zhao Yong said, leaning against a clump of bamboo and speaking to Dong Li Mao.
"Little Huzi, go and get Ge Hao and Er Tiao." Dong Li Mao ordered Hu San behind him, then told Zhao Yong: "The wounded have all been killed by the devils, and Qi Jiang has also been captured by them. Due to his serious injuries, he was sent to a field hospital before dark. Among the little devils, only four nurses were captured. You and the heavy machine gun stay here to attract the devils, I'll lead people into the village from the side. If we don't come out in half an hour, you retreat back to the parking place first."
"Let's go in together then. Don't forget, my nickname is 'Unkillable'!" Zhao Yong didn't want the special forces company to lose a company commander like Dong Li Mao.
Dong Li Mao patted his shoulder and said with a smile: "Don't worry, I won't die. This is an order, you must hold on for half an hour."
At this time, Hu San brought Gu Hao and Wang Jia Gui over.
"Gu Hao, take a dozen or so people with you, bring rocket launchers and rockets. The devils are a transport team, the trucks may be carrying ammunition, you're in charge of blowing up those trucks, however many you can blow up counts as that many, then withdraw back. Second, you know where the Tusi's house is, take the sniper squad brothers with you, we'll head directly in that direction." Dong Li Mao said after finishing, and instructed Hu San: "You're responsible for taking good care of Lan Xiang."
Dolan Xiang said: "I want to go with Brother Dong to rescue my sisters."
"No! Too dangerous! You stay here!" Dong Li Mao shouted loudly.
"I won't! I'll avenge those injured and killed sisters!" Knife Lan Xiang said stubbornly.
Dong Li Mao gazed at Knife Lan Xiang for a moment, thinking that it would be good to have her by his side. The four nurses who were caught inside might be suffering greatly at the hands of the devils, both physically and mentally. Having a woman with him could help with things that only women could do. He nodded and said: "Alright, you come with me, but you must promise not to leave my side."
Dolan Xiang nodded slightly.
