A Pacifists Poem

I do not understand my friend,

how you can fight until the end.

I'd like to stop a moment short,

catch my breath and then just walk.

and perhaps then we can talk,

  and tear our differences apart,

  without being torn apart.

  I’d like to think,

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

  that we’d agree,

  to simply be,

  just you,

  and

  me.

  But,

  things,

  aren’t simple,

  and words get caught up

in the streets, while love is lost

among defeats. Why can’t we simply rest awhile?

Take a break. Try to smile, for no reason other than we’re here,

and not yet lost the will to care.
