Chapter 9 First Encounter

Chapter 9: The First Encounter (Revised)

Based on the information I have, I've been proceeding to my destination at the shortest distance and exerting the maximum strength of this body while rushing along, even overusing it, but when I saw that wooden house pierced by countless icicles, I almost collapsed.

I calmed down and slowly thought about it, looking to see if there were any other clues, but it's not certain that I'll be in time.

Judging from the icicle's condition, Bai should have just started wandering for a short while.

I sorted out the thoughts in my mind and clarified the order.

Bai's blood lineage has been discovered, and most villagers start bullying him. After a while, Bai runs into Zhen again on a big bridge.

The big bridge! That's the key!

Fortunately, according to what the villagers said, there aren't many big bridges around here, so I still have a chance!

I searched around different big bridges from far to near.

It's been three days already, this is the second-to-last big bridge. If I still don't see it after the last one, should I just give up?

"Huh? It's actually snowing at this time, if Bai is around here, it must be very cold?"

I had just wished that Bai was not on this bridge when I saw that solitary and slender figure!

It's Bai! He hasn't arrived yet! I was overjoyed in my heart, but I still suppressed the excitement in my chest and slowly walked towards Bai.

Bai shrunk his head between his legs, with both arms tightly wrapped around himself. A lot of snow was still piled on Bai's body, and his clothes were almost torn apart. I could smell a faint, almost imperceptible bloody smell on his clothes, but I didn't know if it was left by his parents or from the wounds he suffered when he was bullied by other villagers.

I gently brushed the snow off his body, and seeing Bai's trembling figure, I couldn't help but sigh. I took out a large blanket that I had prepared beforehand and wrapped it around Bai. Luckily, Bai was crouching down, or else with my current height, it would have been difficult for me to wrap it around him.

Feeling an unusual warmth on his body, Bai suddenly lifted his head and saw a child of less than three years old standing in front of him. He had thought that someone was touching him again, assuming it was another villager's child coming to bully him, but unexpectedly the hand only lightly brushed against him, removing the snow from his body.

Bai once again bowed his head, "You... I have the blood of a cursed inheritance on me, don't come near me." You will also be beaten, or you will come to beat me. At first, there were still a few villagers who didn't understand the situation and wanted to help him, but they were chased away by other villagers. Later, after finding out that he had the blood of a cursed inheritance, they came over to harm him even more.

I couldn't help but sigh with emotion as I heard the sincerity in his vernacular speech.

Bai, is really a very gentle person. Although I already knew about Bai's story from the comic, I didn't expect him to be like a child made of snow. No wonder even the ruthless Ghost Slayer was moved in the end.

"I know, I brought this for you, you haven't eaten in a long time, eat slowly." I heated up the eel head with the charka and handed the steaming hot mantou to Bai.

The child's voice was unexpectedly gentle, and Bai felt the warmth in his hand, slowly taking a bite, feeling as if the ice in his heart was also thawing.

Bai gazed into the child's eyes, "Your eyes are just like mine!" And the pain within seemed even more profound, yet so warm, "Do you need me?"

"Ah, I need you." I need you to live on, to live happily.

After hearing my answer, Bai Lu revealed a brilliant smile.

Looking at Bai's smile, the discomfort in my body from the long journey seemed to have alleviated a lot. "Come on! Follow me." I stretched out my hand to help Bai up.

Seeing Bai's strenuous efforts to wipe his hands on his body, I couldn't help but chuckle and squatted down to directly reach out and grab Bai.

At the moment when Bai felt the warmth of the child's palm, he knew that he had found the only existence in his life, the most important person, and this temperature, Bai would remember forever.

"Little demon!" A cold killing intent came from behind me, a huge blade hung horizontally on my shoulder.

  It's a guillotine!

  It's all over!

  It's time to take action!
