Chapter Thirty: The Military Order
Liu Rong looked up at the general, and the general was also looking down at her with a faint expressionless face.
"My patience is limited, even if you are still young and inexperienced. If you don't understand these things and insist on taking action, harming Dong's guard, then today you won't need to leave the General's mansion." The General's eyes narrowed slightly, his handsome face suddenly turning cold, exuding a fierce and formidable aura.
Liu covered his eyes. It's over. When General Liu gets angry, he is afraid of him. A young girl like Liu Rong who has never seen the world will definitely be scared to death.
Shangguan Jing'er furrowed her brow and couldn't help but step forward to stop him, her brother's severe expression made her understand that even her imperial clan brothers would be intimidated, let alone a young girl from a small marquis manor, don't scare this kind-hearted little girl who is so skilled in medicine.
Contrary to Shangguan Jing'er's expectations, Liu Rong not only didn't show any fear, but her eyes even stared back at the general, with a hint of anger on her face.
Shangguan Jing'er subconsciously stopped moving forward, wanting to see how the third daughter of the Wending Marquis's estate would handle this matter.
"Since you have no remorse and still want to continue deceiving people, don't blame me for being impolite!" The great general, however, had no intention of showing mercy to the little girl. Seeing that Liu Rong not only didn't retreat but also provoked his authority, his voice turned cold and hard: "Guards! Take this little swindler away!"
As soon as the general's order was given, two guards rushed in from outside and were about to take Liu Rong away.
"Halt!" Liu Rong shouted loudly, her eyes blazing with anger as she stared at the general.
The two guards' hands were also stiff in the air, and they couldn't help but look at General Ta. General Ta's face was expressionless, but it was Upper Official Jing'er who shook her head at them from the side. They looked at each other in dismay, then chose to retreat to the side and wait for orders.
"What? Regretting it?" The great general looked at Liu Rong with a calm and collected expression.
Liu Rong looked at the general with some disgust. She disliked this kind of self-righteous, superficial man the most: "You're wrong, I don't regret it. Why should I regret being a doctor and treating illnesses to save people?"
The general raised an eyebrow, his gaze at Liu Rong becoming even more menacing.
Liu Rong, however, was completely oblivious. Did she really think she had never seen the world before? In modern times, what kind of doctor-patient relationship hadn't she seen? Even if a doctor saved someone's life, they might still be threatened by the patient's family members, and there were even cases where doctors were threatened with death. Now, it was just a menacing glare, which to her was truly no big deal.
"I'm just standing in for the people around you, and yet I don't even get a bit of trust or respect from you! For someone's character, this is unjust," said Liu Rong calmly, not caring about General's increasingly dangerous expression: "What's more shameful is that as a great general, you're not grateful to the doctor who saved your life, but instead slander him as a swindler and want to harm him, which is inhumane."
"Is the Xia Empire deserted? To actually use someone like you to govern the military, I'm afraid the borders are already in a state of utter chaos!" Liu Rong looked up at the general with her head held high and chest out, not losing any momentum despite being only as tall as his chest.
Everyone in the house was stunned, and the two guards who were called in were even more shocked. Where did this little girl come from? She dared to say such things, doesn't she want to live? The great general is wise and powerful, if the respected general of the border heard about it, wouldn't he capture her alive and flay her?!
On the side, Shangguan Jing'er couldn't help but laugh. The third miss of Wending Houfu was really interesting and actually said such words. She couldn't help but look at her own brother with great interest. Being called an unkind and unjust person, his mood would probably be very uncomfortable. However, if it didn't exceed her expectations, this matter should have a result...
The general's face turned iron-green, his expression icy as a cold pool: "Good, no one has ever dared to speak to me like this. I'll give you a chance to treat Guard Dong, but you must sign a military order. If you can't cure him, you'll have to pay with your life!"
Shangguan Jing'er rolled her eyes. This isn't the military, how could they possibly ask a little girl to write a military order? What kind of nerve does someone need to come up with something like this?!
The room fell silent, and everyone couldn't help but look at Liu Rong, waiting for her response. Except for Shangguan Jing'er, Liu Lao and the two guards didn't think there was anything wrong with Da Jiangjun's words.
"Joke, I've never heard of curing diseases and saving people having to sign a military order." Liu Rong looked at the general with furrowed brows.
"Besides being eloquent, what else can you do? Don't dare to make a military order, quickly leave the general's mansion. What I said before still counts, considering your young age, I won't blame you for deceiving people."
Liu Rong gritted her teeth and said, "I've never seen anyone as annoying as you!"
Unfortunately, apart from hanging penicillin drips, such readily available medicines, she really couldn't think of any other drugs that could be used in ancient times. She only remembered a few herbs that were natural antibiotics, but her memories from college were too distant and she couldn't recall them at the moment. As a result, she naturally didn't have the confidence to save people!
Damn it!
"Are you scared?" The Grand General looked at Liu Rong with a cold gaze, "If you're scared, then hurry up and leave on your own. That way, you won't dirty the hands of the guards in the manor!"
"Who's afraid of who?!" Lü Jiong blurted out in anger. At most, she would remove the faulty mechanism with her scalpel; if all else failed, she could always cultivate the oldest penicillin - what was there to be afraid of?!
The general immediately ordered two guards to bring pen, ink, paper and inkstone. He watched as Liu Rong wrote the military order, looked at the white paper with black characters, and saw Liu Rong's signature. Only then was he satisfied: "Since the military order has been written, Miss Liu can take care of Guard Dong's illness."
Liu Rong furrowed her brow, feeling unutterably displeased in her heart, just like eating a fly with her meal, and unwilling to look at the general again, she turned her head to gaze at the patient on the bed.
To cure the disease and save people, all possibilities must be taken into account. She had to prepare some things. Thinking of this, Liu Rong didn't rush to do anything to the patient, but instead continued to speak to the general: "Don't rush for now, I have a request before that!"
"What's the request?" The Grand General raised an eyebrow.
"I want to see Zu Tingxuan, Lord Zu!" Liu Rong didn't look at the general, but stared at the patient's wound.
The general frowned: "What did you see him doing?"
"Harm me to this place, save people and be humiliated by others, and finally set up this messy military order. Does the general think that I should bear all the hardships alone?" Liu Rong raised an eyebrow: "I remember when I treated the general's illness, he owed me four conditions, and today I'll use one of them!"
