Chapter 8

"I wonder what changed," Just as she said that a green glow appeared In front of her and shot away into the forest, "I guess that's the Heart fragment."

"You know, I'm surprised I made it through that without stuttering," Mari commented. "Let's go back to the workroom and try to spot what changed."

With that she held up her wrist and selected Workroom, in a flash of white light she appeared back by her table blinking rapidly. "I need to remember to close my eyes in the future, that was way too bright."

Once she stepped up to the table and turned on the hologram it was easy to see the changes. First there was a soft green light coming from within the forest, when Mari looked closer she was able to spot the fragment nestled in the roots of a tree, nearby the Forest Advocate seemed to be guarding it.

The other obvious change was the addition of a sun, which after investigation, was revealed to be in sync with the outside world and would eventually change to the moon.

"Cool, I guess we should finalize that quest now," Pulling it up Mari reread everything to make sure it would fit with the newly created lore before she published it and got to see the finished quest.

"Right, that's quest and lore done and that means I get 300c for that. I belive the last quest of that group was to make 10 more monsters." Mari frowned in thought, "But that would be insanely expensive, one common monster core is 100 credits it would end up being 1,000 credits and that's way too much."

Mari stepped over to the pedestal and held her hand over it to pull up the Monster Core's screen and was surprised to see a new option called Blueprints.

Clicking on it opened a screen where her current monsters were displayed, Forest Advocate, Forest Wolf, Star Chaser, and Night Watcher. Curious Mari clicked on the Wolf and was surprised to see it now only cost 15c to create one.

"What's going on?" She asked confused. A small screen appeared labeled Guide and explained that buying a new Monster core was for making a new type of monster at the lowest level associated with the core's level. After that, the cost went down as it was no longer a new monster and the forge already had its blueprint stored.

"I see, well this makes things easier. 10 more monsters would only be 150 credits, now I just have to choose which ones." Mari read through each monster's screen.

"I definitely want to do more wolves," She smiled at Nuit "What's a wolf without a pack." Mari bought 5 Forest Wolves for 75 credits.

"Three more Star Chasers, I'll pair them up, and finish up with two Night Watchers," Surveying the map Mari was content with the finished product.

"My new total is 1,445 credits, I think that's pretty good." Mari smiled and opened up her open quests. "I think I'm ready to open the doors, so to speak."

As was now expected a new screen appeared with a simple image of the forge from outside as the tree it appeared to be, and a design screen and a greyed-out button saying 'Create doorway'.

Several minutes later and a few accidental neon pink entryways, Mari ended up with an oval opening in the trunk of the tree holding a beautiful mimicry of the Milky Way, and bordered by elaborate wooden carvings.

With the design done Mari clicked on the now green button and put the design to work. The moment she did the workroom expanded and a large almost TV screen appeared on the wall and showed the the view of the outside where a large ship was approaching.
