Crocodile was dying of boredom.
He hated that his big-wings, Gold, was hunting with his friends. Now he had to deal with his brother and sisters, who were all fighting over a frog they found.
Crocodile was laying by the muddy banks. His sister, Hazel, had her wings over her snout as she trembled, while his brother, Salamander, and his other brother, Amber, were fighting.
"Guys!" Crocodile yelled, standing up. "Please stop fighting! You are scaring Hazel!"
Of course, they didn't listen. They never did.
Now Hazel was crying, and he didn't know what to do. He was horrible at making his siblings feel better, even though MudWing's had to. Even if he joked around, he still wouldn't be able to calm them down.
"I want the frog!" Hazel yelled, and she picked up a glob of mud in her claws. "Or else I'll throw this in your eye!"

Oh no...
"You can't do that! Crocodile is watching!" Salamander stammered. "Let's just share the frog!"
"Yeah, please don't..." Crocodile stammered.
"Oh, I will." Amber growled, her amber tail lashing. "Salamander always gets everything, and it's getting on my nerves."
Crocodile couldn't argue with that. Since Salamander was the smallest, he usually got more attention from Gold than the rest of them. But it was still wrong that Amber wanted to throw mud at him. Crocodile tugged on his spiky necklace nervously. All his siblings had the same necklace.
"But we can share..." Salamander stammered. Amber glared at him, and Salamander was holding on to the little jade frog against his chest.
"I don't want to share this time, brother." Amber growled. "I want you to feel how I always feel." Then, Amber threw the glob of mud into Salamander's eye.
Salamander yelped with pain and fell on the ground. Hazel ran to Crocodile, and he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Was his brother alright?
Then, Salamander got up off the ground and picked up a stick. Crocodile didn't know why Salamander had whispered, "I enchant this stick to stab Amber's eye," but he did.
The stick went into Amber's eye, and it was a bloody mess, that Crocodile wanted to unsee. He ran to his sister, Hazel trailing behind him, and then a thought came to him like a dagger slamming into his chest.
My brother is an animus.
