Time passed until day came once more. Yubi opened her eyes, however this time things were a bit different. She had a bunch of memories of a different time, a different life. No, perhaps her new memories were the new ones? Was she Yubi Masami or was she Daniel… no, that name is one she despises. She's Yubi and that is it.

  Taking a deep breath the four year old kid got out of bed. She had woken up a bit too early. Her head was still a bit of a mess as the memories of both her lifes tried to settle in her mind. She was having to adjust to her body and mentality. It was messy and complicated. While her memories of this new life knew how to use her body, her old ones didn’t. Where her old memories made it so her mind worked in a more structured fashion her new memories didn’t.

  “Blegh this feels like trying to speak two nguages at the same time.” Yubi’s child voice sounded through her room. Her steps sometimes became steady while others were a mess. The same went for her mind. Whenever she tried to think of something from her past life her body would become hard to control. Little by little the memories settled.

  “So I really am a girl now.” Yubi, who had finally managed to get proper control of her body, couldn't help admiring herself in her toy mirror. Though the thing didn’t have the best quality it still worked. She could see her features though childish still held femininity. However, there was something that baffled her a little.

  “Why do I have fox ears?” That's right, Yubi had fox ears. A pair of fluffy fox ears atop her ginger hair. Each fox ear had its tips painted white with a tuft of fur on the inside with the same color.

  Curious, Yubi began fiddling with them, her hands guided by her memories of this life. She knew they were sensitive and the best spots to scratch them. The more her memories merged the less confused Yubi became until finally the merge finished. It had taken quite a while but in the end she knew a few tidbits of important information.

  “So the majority of the popution has powers by the name of quirks, nice. Though where had I heard of this before?” Thinking hard about it, a pair of memories worked themselves into her mind. One of her past lives, one of this one. The first one was of her online friends discussing anime. She hadn’t paid much attention back then so she had only heard bits and pieces. The second one was of a muscur man on tv.

  “Holy shit! I am in the MHA world? No way!” Looking around her room Yubi’s eyes zeroed in on a pair of posters. One was of the same muscur man posing with a smile. The second one was that of another hero, this one a woman. She instantly recognized them both, the man being all might and the woman being Ryukyu or the dragon hero.

  As the realization finally set in, Yubi had conflicting feelings. She hadn’t watched my hero academia or read the manga. All she knew was from her friends' discussions and even then she had paid little attention. If she had known that she would end up in this world she would have read the manga religiously!

  “Well, whatever, no use crying over spilt milk. More importantly I need to remember what I do know.” Mumbling to herself, Yubi sat on her bed as she began to think hard about what she knew. First is that a kid named Deku or something is the protagonist. Second is that he enrolled in UA whatever that is. Third is that the main vilin is an all-for-one guy or something like that.

  Sighing, Yubi felt a bit depressed. There wasn’t useful info in her memories. The most useful one would be that Deku and all might have some sort of apprentice and teacher retionship. Hell, she didn’t even know any specific dates that could help her prepare.

  “Should I even get involved?” One thing she does remember clearly is her friends telling her how things went to shit. Well, she just remembers them telling her that they went to shit, not how or when it happened. In the end she would need to move out of the country if she wanted to escape.

  “I won’t even be a full fledged adult by then.” With another sigh Yubi continued to think hard about what to do. In the end her quirk was kind of me. She had a mutation quirk from birth that gave her fox ears like her mom, that was it.

  “Even if I wanted to get involved there is nothing I can do with my quirk. Hearing a bit better than normal won’t help much.” As Yubi went to sigh again this time she began to feel pain, a lot of pain mostly concentrated in her lower back. Not being able to cope with the pain, Yubi began screaming loudly.

  “Yubi! What's wrong honey.” A moment after Yubi began screaming her lungs out a woman with fox ears and bck hair rushed into the room, panic clearly visible in her face as her eyes nded on her daughter.

  “Mom, it hurts!” The pain was growing worse by the second not only that but she felt as if her entire body was burning up, it was agonizing.

  Seeing her daughter in so much pain Naomi acted immediately. Her motherly instincts took hold as she picked up her daughter and dashed out of the room, through the house and out the door. Fueled by adrenaline Naomi picked up the keys to her old motorcycle. She hadn’t used it ever since she had Yubi. Now however, she didn’t care for anything else but getting her daughter to the hospital.

  Cradling Yubi with one hand, Naomi turned on the vehicle whose engine roared to life. Naomi had loved to ride her bike at high speeds in her younger days. The feeling of speeding through the streets made her feel alive. Now she would pce those skills to good use.

  In an instant the motorcycle accelerated as Naomi drove through traffic at high speeds. Her control over the vehicle was something of an art as it moved between cars with grace. A drive that should have taken thirty minutes was cut in half as Naomi drove like a mad woman.

  Yubi for her part could do nothing but whimper in pain. The heat she felt only grew, intensifying the pain more and more. Not giving a damn about anything else but her daughter’s well being Naomi kicked the doors open to the emergency ward.

  The nurse at the counter became startled, almost pressing the silent arm. However, as soon as her eyes nded on Yubi’s curled up form she retracted her hand. The girl looked pale and covered in sweat. A few ideas went through her mind, from a nasty case of some disease to accidental poisoning.

  “Please, help my daughter!” Naomi almost shouted those words. Fortunately that wasn’t necessary as the nurse had already called for more nurses and medics to check on the girl. Soon enough a side door opened with a group of medics pushing a stretcher on which they id Yubi on.

  “I’ll need you to answer a few questions.” The nurse said with authority in her voice. Any information the presumable mother could provide would be paramount.

  “Anything.” With that the nurse began asking question after question. Unfortunately Naomi didn’t have any useful information. She hadn’t been present to see what had happened, not like it would matter since Yubi hadn’t done anything that could lead to this event.

  Hours passed with the medics working to stabilize Yubi. Tests were made to try and find the cause for the girl’s condition until finally an answer was found. Yubi, being four years old, was in the process of awakening her quirk. This surprised everyone since it was rather rare for a mutant quirk to manifest extra characteristics.

  Once everyone realized what was going on things calmed down. Naomi breathed a sigh of relief before calling her husband to tell him what was going on. Meanwhile in Yubi’s room the medic in charge was perplexed at what he was seeing. From Yubi’s lower back a new appendage was growing. From the looks of it, it was a fox tail.

  Saturday came and went with Yubi hospitalized. Though quirk awakening was normal some quirks could be dangerous. That is why now that she had already been admitted the decision was made to keep her in until her quirk finished manifesting. By the end of the day Yubi’s tail had grown to be as long as her arm without any signs of stopping.

  Sunday morning came and Yubi found the pain and heat slowly but surely going away. After a few more hours the pain and heat was finally gone. As Yubi opened her eyes she found herself hugging a fluffy fox tail with the same color scheme as her ears. Not only that but she felt something more within her.

  Curious Yubi ignored the medics checking on her as she tried to interact with the strange feeling. Suddenly blue fmes burst forth from Yubi’s hair and fur. Not only that but even her fingernails burst into blue fmes growing longer and sharper. Despite the fmes Yubi didn’t feel any difference in heat. Though the same couldn’t be said about the bed she had been seating on as it quickly caught fire.

  It took a while but after a lot of struggling and some panic Yubi managed to turn off her quirk as the medics and security managed to put out the fire. Even so, Yubi still felt like there was more to her quirk than just the fire. It felt like she had just scratched the tip of the iceberg.

  Time flew by as tests were conducted as per normal. Yubi’s quirk was soon registered with the name kitsune. Afterall, a fox girl that could control blue fmes very much sounded like the legends of the fox youkai doesn’t it.

  From the tests Yubi found out that she was pretty much immune to her own fire and any heat cooler than the one produced by her fmes. This was very good since it meant she could use her quirk without fear of being burnt. This is because her blue fmes could reach quite the high temperature.

  At their lowest point the fmes could reach five hundred celsius while at their highest they could reach a staggering three thousand celsius, enough to melt steel. Despite how amazing this might sound they also found Yubi’s weakness. Her body seems to hold a special reserve of energy, once she runs out she can’t use her fmes at all. Yubi decided to call this energy mana in her heart.

  The day finally came to a close as Yubi was discharged from the hospital. Thoughts swirling in her mind. She had just awakened quite the quirk. She hadn’t told the doctors but she felt like her quirk wasn’t fully awakened yet. She felt like there was much more her quirk could do. It just so happened that her mana reserves or her body wasn’t rge or strong enough to hold on.

  “Well, at least with this I can grow strong in the future.” Yubi smiled to herself as she thought about it. In the end she decided to become a hero, not out of some heroic values or anything like that. She just liked the idea of being able to use her quirk freely. Not to mention that kicking ass appealed to her on a personal level.

  “Looks like mommy’s and daddy’s quirk combined into yours Yubi.” Naomi said with a smile. Her husband's quirk was somewhat like hers, as in it wasn’t all that amazing. Naomi’s husband, Kai, could create small fires at the tip of his fingers, that was it. The fire wasn’t particurly hot nor could he make it any bigger.

  “Yeah! Thank you mom, I will also have to thank dad!” Yubi responded with a wide smile acting her own age. Afterall, now that she is a girl she might as well enjoy her new life beginning to end with a smile.

  Once home Yubi went to her room deciding to train her quirk. She was of course prohibited from pying with it since fire quirks could be quite dangerous. However, Yubi decided to train, not py with her quirk. Afterall, Yubi felt like the more she depleted her mana the rger her mana pool grew. If she were to put a number to it she felt like her original mana pool was of a hundred and after today’s testing it had grown by like zero point zero zero zero one. Not much but something was something.

  “Alright let's get to grinding!” Her gamer soul ignited with passion. And so Yubi focused on lighting only one of her fingernails on fire. She failed miserably but she had already expected that so she turned off her quirk before any accident could happen. She wasn’t deterred however. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day and the grind never ends!
