Chapter 12: War

  Chapter Twelve War

"Hearing you say that... I feel like Beitou isn't a safe place either." Han Jin naturally changed the subject.

"That's a paradise for adventurers, if it were too safe, it wouldn't be an adventure." A voice came over.

Han Jin looked up to see a young man in his early twenties, with slightly sunken cheeks, thick eyebrows, clear eyes, and a straight nose. He was of average height, wearing a plain gray robe, and his chest was still heaving slightly as he breathed rapidly, apparently having just exercised or fled.

"Mr. Sasseur, it's you!" Stillberg jumped up.

The young man asked in surprise: "Do you know me?"

"Last year at this time, I used to listen to you telling stories, don't you remember me?"

Sasseur looked at Stilberg seriously for a few moments, shook his head and said: "Sorry, I'm afraid I don't quite recall."

Steeleburg jumped beside Han Jin: "This is our young master, Master Raphael! Don't you remember?"

"Oh......" Sasori's expression changed to one of realization: "So it was Master Raphael, long time no see."

"Hello." Han Jin smiled, knowing that the other party only remembered him out of politeness.

"Are you a magician?" Mo Xinko suddenly interjected.

Sassue was taken aback and nodded slowly: "Yes, you are..."

"High-ranking swordsman, Mo Xinke." Mo Xinke slightly bowed: "You're also from Ladong Town, aren't you?"

"Hmm." Sasori let out a wry smile. "I just arrived in Lauton Town last night, who would have thought I'd run into something like this today?"

"Master, look! The town... the town is on fire!" Stillberg cried out.

Several people turned around and looked towards the direction of Ladong Town. Above the town, a group of ferocious black smoke rose straight into the high sky. Only rich people could use bricks and tiles to build houses, and most of the houses in Ladong Town were made of wood. With someone intentionally setting fires, the fire quickly became uncontrollable.

The wailing sound rose again, and many people rushed out of the dense forest, staring blankly in the direction of Ladong Town. Their faces were all painful, and this fire had burned away all their hopes.

"It seems we can only go to Baituo Alliance." Han Jin said softly: "Mr. Sasou, where are you going?"

"I? I'm going to visit Beitou too."

"Let's go together." Mo Xinke extended an invitation.

Sasou's gaze fell on Moshinke's giant sword, and he nodded very happily: "Good."

They all understand that a swordsman is fragile, and so is a magician. But the combination of a swordsman and a magician is not as simple as 1 + 1 = 2; they cooperate with each other to their mutual benefit.

"Let's go back to town tonight and set off early tomorrow morning," said Han Jin slowly.

"No way, if we're going to leave, let's go now!" Sasuke said curtly.

"Why?" Han Jin asked in surprise.

"You tell me first, what are you going to do when you go back to town tonight?"

"Go back and see if there's anything we can use, like money."

"Even if you can find more money, losing your life, what's the use of money?"

"Are you saying... those knights won't leave?"

"It has nothing to do with them." Sasu hesitated for a moment: "Let me make it clear to you, the army of Black Crow City is coming."

"How did you know?" Mo Xinkai was taken aback.

"I originally planned to visit a friend in Black Crow City, but who would have thought that we'd run into their army halfway there. Luckily I was a bit cautious, otherwise... " Sasori smiled wryly: "The army of Black Crow City is known for its swift actions, if we wait until tomorrow morning, we won't be able to leave."

Han Jin nodded thoughtfully, turned around, and happened to see the original old butler Barbato and some members of the security team walking in from outside the woods. He suddenly thought of something and said to Stilberg: "Stilberg, you go tell them this news and let them spread it out as much as possible."

"Alright, young master." Stillberg ran off in a sprint towards those people at Baba Tuo.

Sass's eyes lit up, but he didn't say anything.

As they walked deeper into the mountains, the trees grew denser and sunlight barely penetrated, casting a somewhat eerie atmosphere. Han Jin and his companions made their way through the forest, chatting in hushed tones. Sasori was quite talkative, unlike Mozuku who kept his past tightly sealed, not revealing a single word. From his words, Han Jin learned many things.

The lord of Sacred Crown City, Disemark, and the lord of Black Crow City, Zagunede, are sworn enemies. The religions they believe in and promote are diametrically opposed to the point of being irreconcilable, with this hatred dating back centuries. Disemark and Zagunede have clashed dozens of times, meaning they have waged war against each other dozens of times in an attempt to annihilate one another, but neither has been able to gain a decisive advantage.

The lord of Black Crow City, Zagunede, is a descendant of the Dark Druids. Not only is he extremely powerful himself, but he also has the ability to control evil creatures. In Black Crow City, there are hundreds of millions of mutated crows. Whenever Zagunede goes out to battle, hundreds of millions of crows will form a dark cloud that blocks out the sun, constantly circling above his army. Although the mutated crows are not very strong in combat, they make excellent sentries. They can easily monitor the enemy's every move and intercept any lone scouts from the opposing side.

Zagunel's core troops consist of vampires and dark druids, also possessing a small number of dark knights and sorcerers, with strong combat power and extremely swift action.

This time, Zagunede abandoned his usual straightforward approach and led the army to cross the mountain, attempting to stab Disemark from behind. This also pushed the previously peaceful town of Ladontown to the forefront of the storm, but for the people of Ladontown, everything had lost its meaning, as the town had already been reduced to ruins.

As dusk approached, Han Jin and the others found a place to camp. Mo Xinkuo went hunting, Stilberg went to find some flammable branches, Han Jin and Sasou had nothing to do, so they cleaned up an area and sat down together.

Han Jinru looked at Sasou with interest, and from the bottom of his heart, he liked this experienced person in front of him. Sasou had traveled all over the continent as a wandering poet, and he had just learned that most of what Steilberg knew was told by Sasou when he visited Radon Town last year. If he could chat with Sasou more, he would definitely be able to fill his own gaps.

"Right, since you knew that Hei Ya Cheng was going to attack, why did you run to La Dong Town?" Han Jin asked in a low voice.

"One reason is that I want to go to St. Crown City to find a friend, he's a merchant, if war breaks out suddenly, it will have a great impact on him, and another reason is... Disemark has a good reputation, so I want to remind him."

"You have many friends, haha......" Han Jin smiled and said: "Then why did you decide to go with us to the Beit Alliance? I think you haven't seen Lord Desmark yet?"

"Is it meaningful if the future lord of Sacred Crown City is someone like that? Honestly, I'm very disappointed."

"What about your friend? Don't care about him?"

"What a coincidence, I just saw him in Ladong Town."

"Sasseur, you want to send a message to Desmarque just because he has a good reputation?"

Sass looked stunned for a moment, then smiled and said: "Of course, this is a great opportunity to recommend myself. If I can get Disemark's appreciation, I won't have to wander around anymore."

"Do you want to work for Disemark? That..."

"Dis Mark is old, I'm still young. After settling in Holy Crown City, who do you think I should get along with?" Sasori asked back.

"Is that guy Disemark's son today?"

  "Hmm." Sasuke nodded.

At this time, Stillberg had already returned with a large bundle of branches. Han Jin stood up to help Stillberg set the branches on the ground. He suddenly thought of something and turned around to ask: "Sasou, you said you met your friend in Ladong Town? Is your friend a man or a woman?"

"Are you a man? Why ask this?"

"It's okay, you scared me. I thought your friend was Miss Keli." Han Jin didn't want to mention Miss Keli at first, but Sasou was so honest that he couldn't hide it either.

"Kirie... Miss Kirie of Sacred Crown City?" Sasori's eyes widened in surprise: "She's also in Ladontown?"

  "Uh-huh."

Sasou slowly stood up, a hesitant expression appearing on his face.

"Don't worry, Miss Kaili left Ladong Town last night." Han Jin smiled while observing Sasou's expression: "Actually, Disemark's son went mad because he couldn't find Miss Kaili. Sasou, do you know Miss Kaili?"

"How could I possibly know her?" Sasou shook his head and said, "But I've heard from friends that she's a kind-hearted girl, just like you, both of you are good people."

"Am I a good person? Where did you see that I'm a good person?" Han Jin smiled.

"When you knew the news of the attack on Black Crow Castle, you immediately thought of telling the people of Ladon Town. You were worried about their safety, and besides, aren't you a noble? I'm surprised to see a noble helping his servants with work for the first time."

"What aristocrat crap, I'm just a homeless refugee now." Han Jin said with self-mockery.
