Chapter Thirty-Three: Miscellaneous Studies
When Han Jin and the others rushed back, the sky was already near dusk. Sasou came forward with a surprised look on his face: "Why did you come back so late?"
"Today, Xian Ni Er discovered two tree demons." Mo Xin Ke said with a mischievous face, then raised his thumb: "In the end, they were all killed by me!"
"Sasou smiled and said, 'Today's harvest is great!'"
"Saas Eu, swap out the magic crystal on your wand." Han Jin flipped his palm over and handed over a yellowish-brown magic crystal: "You used to be reluctant to part with it, but now that we have four eighth-tier magic crystals, there's no need to keep so many." Three months ago, after the death of the great bear of the earth, Xian Ni'er and Mo Xin Ke's first move was to go find the young bear that had not yet matured, and they easily killed it. With today's haul, they now possessed four eighth-tier magic crystals.
"I want a fire-type." Sasori shook his head: "Better keep it."
Just then, a violent coughing sound came from the wooden shed. Han Jin was startled: "What's wrong with Qili?"
"She's fallen ill." Sasuke said in a low tone.
"How did you suddenly fall ill?"
"She insisted on taking a bath in such cold weather..." Sasuke paused, smiling wryly: "And then she fell ill after coming back."
"Yes, it's getting colder and colder..." Xanier murmured.
Living in the forest, it's barely tolerable for a short time, but as time goes on, there's no poetry or romance to speak of, only difficulties everywhere. For example, the problem of shelter isn't solved by just building a few wooden sheds. As the weather gets colder, they don't have anything to keep warm, so what can they do? If they lay down dry grass, they have to take it out to dry in the sun every day. If they miss one day, the dry grass will become damp and lose its warmth. If they use animal hides, those things stink unbearably, Han Jin can't stand them, let alone Xian Ni'er and Qi Li. Moreover, they attract insects terribly. If it weren't for Han Jin needing animal hides to make his strange 'magic scrolls', they would have thrown them away long ago.
Food has also become a problem, eating barbecue every day is simply dizzying, occasionally finding some monster eggs can make them cheer and jump for a while. If Xanier brings back some wild fruit, everyone will go crazy, even the timid Michelle and Stilberg will squeeze in to grab desperately. The saddest thing is that no one dares to swallow the wild fruit, but instead wants to hold it in their mouth and eat slowly.
To put it bluntly, if forests were as good as poets say they are, why would humans squeeze into towns to live?
"What's going on?" Sasuke asked in a low voice.
"Perhaps... we should find a place to replenish our supplies." Xanier said: "My arrows are almost used up."
"Where are you going?"
"Let's talk about it later, I'll go see how Qili is doing first." Han Jin said, and then he led the way to the wooden shed.
Qian Li's whole body was buried in the haystack, with only a small half of her head exposed. Every time she coughed, the hay would also shake violently, as if there was a monster hidden inside.
Han Jin walked to the side of Qili, squatted down and touched Qili's forehead with his right hand, which felt a bit hot. Qili felt someone touching her and opened her eyes drowsily.
Han Jin reached into the grass and grabbed Qiu Li's wrist, Qiu Li was shocked, her already flushed face turned even redder: "You... what are you doing?!"
"Don't move." Han Jin took his pulse and said softly, "It's all right, just a minor problem."
"Will you still see patients?" Xanier asked in surprise.
Han Jin smiled, this miscellaneous scholar was not called in vain. Although cultivators didn't need to learn healing spells, since they wouldn't get sick after building their foundation, Han Jin had learned some anyway.
A talisman took shape in mid-air, and Han's index finger lightly tapped it, the talisman had already sunk into his beautiful forehead.
"Ah......" Qī Lì exclaimed in surprise, Han Jin's talisman had an immediate effect, and in just an instant, Qī Lì felt a cool sensation spreading from her head to her limbs.
"Alright, now let's talk about where we're going." Han Jin said.
Everyone looked at each other in confusion, a question had been lingering in their minds for a long time: Han Jin could release flame magic, which was the mark of a magician; Han Jin could use magic to enhance their mental and physical strength and endurance, and now he could also heal illnesses, which was the mark of a priest; Han Jin could summon puppets to fight, which was the mark of a puppeteer; Han Jin could conjure up spirits out of thin air, which was the mark of a summoner; and previously, Mo Xinkou had said that Han Jin was a prophet!
So many professions overlap in one person, it can't help but make people wonder!
"What's wrong with you guys?" Han Jin shouted.
“Cough...” Sasu cleared his throat: “Anyway, we can’t go to Lad Town. The war won’t end in such a short time, and Lad Town is too small, it’s hard to satisfy our desires. We also can’t go to the Western City of the Beit Alliance. Last time we killed those knights, things won’t just be settled like that. We should have become wanted criminals, maybe as soon as we show up, we’ll be attacked.”
"So where did you say we're going?" Mo Xinkai asked.
"First, the place we're going to must have a large market, because we need to sell off our spoils of war and then buy a large quantity of low-grade magic crystals." Sasou thought for a moment, continuing: "Also, Mosinke's sword should be repaired too. Sanieru, if you have magical arrows, your combat strength should increase greatly, right?"
Xian Ni'er nodded.
"That place can't be too far, at least we can get there within twenty days. The weather is getting colder and traveling in the howling north wind isn't a pleasant thing." Sasu thought for a moment: "Moreover, that place must have order, be able to maintain fairness, and cannot bully outsiders at will. Everyone doesn't want the Beit Alliance's incident to happen again, right?"
Mo Xinke's face suddenly turned very unsightly, and he said word by word: "You're talking about... Guanyu City?"
"Yes, it is Lonely Cliff Castle."
"No way! Absolutely not!" Mo Xinkuo jumped up as if electrified: "Even if you kill me, I won't go!"
"Why?" Sasuke asked in astonishment.
"I just escaped from there... don't ask, I'm just not going!"
"Do you have enemies there?"
"Not sworn enemies, but..." Mo Xinke's face turned slightly red as he scratched his head in embarrassment: "How about this, we go back to the Western City of the Beit Alliance? If you're afraid, we can go to the Southern City!"
"Don't be foolish! Although the four guard cities of the Beit Alliance are at odds with each other, a fugitive who breaks the rules is unwelcome wherever they go." Xanier said calmly.
"How can you blame us?" Ma Xinko shouted: "They were the ones who bullied people first."
"They don't care about the reason, they just protect their own rules from being violated."
"Alright, let's not argue for now." Han Jin looked at Sasou: "If we go to Guren Castle, can you guarantee our safety?"
"Lonely Cliff Castle is the safest." Sasou smiled and said: "It's just a bit far, at least it takes more than ten days to walk."
"Then go to Lonely Cliff City."
"You... don't you guys take my opinion seriously at all?" Mo Xinko said angrily.
"Vote, I agree to go to Gūyá City, how about you?" Han Jin raised his hand.
"Agreed," Xanthe said.
"Agreed," Sasori said.
"Agreed..." Kiri, Stilberg and Michelle all raised their hands.
