Chapter 62: Contact
That evening, the crowd set up camp by a river. Han Jin had never been here before, but he was familiar with the name of the river, Cui River, which was also where he first washed off his body's filth after coming to this world. However, they were now downstream from the river water, and walking tens of miles upstream along the Cui River would bring them to Ladong Town.
The guards of the caravan picked up a lot of branches and lit several bonfires. Han Jin and a few others gathered together to discuss which direction they would take tomorrow, as they were about to enter the war zone. They had to be extremely careful, but Han Jin and the others were discussing it very enthusiastically. However, Leopold, the leader of the caravan, was smiling silently, seemingly uninterested in their discussion.
At the moment when the sunset jumped into the horizon, Xian Ni Er's expression suddenly became stiff, and then she jumped up from the ground: "There are hoofbeats! Many hoofbeats!!"
"Where?" Han Jin was shocked.
"Over there." Xian Ni'er pointed eastward and then took down the longbow from her back.
"Don't worry, don't worry." Leopold stood up and looked eastward for a moment, then chuckled and said, "It should be our own people."
"One of us? What do you mean, Lord Leopold?" Mosenko asked in a low voice.
"Hehe... We've already made arrangements with General Quincy of Sacred Crown City, he'll be meeting us around here." Leopold said with a smile, then pointed with his hand: "You few, go take a look and see if it's General Quincy's people."
Several guards jumped onto their warhorses and quickly rode out of the camp. Xian Ni'er and a few others looked at each other in confusion, since the owner of the goods wasn't anxious, they didn't need to be either. Mo Xin Ke took a deep look at Han Jin, he remembered clearly that Han Jin had said a few days ago, if the merchant team dared to transport military supplies to Shengguan City, they must have some backing, and that General Kun Xi should be their backer.
"Everybody up! Everybody up!" Leopold shouted loudly. "We can't camp here tonight, everybody march on through the night."
Han Jin and others also started packing up their things, the ignited bonfire was extinguished, the disassembled carriage was re-assembled, and everyone was ready to set off.
It wasn't long before a row of black silhouettes appeared on the horizon, rushing towards this side at an extremely fast speed. By the time hundreds of knights arrived, everything was already fully prepared here.
"Ah, it's Lord Mario after all." Leopold smiled and walked over: "Long time no see, you're getting more spirited by the day."
"How much cargo did you bring this time?" A young knight stepped forward.
"Fifteen carts in all, one hundred and fifty sets of heavy armor, two thousand long swords."
"Capital!" exclaimed the young knight, clapping his hands with laughter.
Hundreds of knights made way for a large wagon, which slowly passed through the troops with goods on board. Han Jin and others remained in their original place, this was etiquette, both sides needed to make contact, if they still needed them to escort, they would follow up, after all, this was not the Holy Crown City, if not needed, Leopold signed a contract, they could go back.
No one expected Leopold to turn around and glance at them with a sly smile, and then walk away on his own. No one could have imagined that someone as kind and gentle as Leopold would reveal such a chilling expression.
"Drop your weapons!" The young knight suddenly turned stern.
"What?" The Korean who was standing in front froze.
"I'm telling you again, put down your weapons at once!" the young knight shouted.
Han Jin's facial muscles twitched involuntarily, he stared at the young knight, who should be around 23 or 24 years old, with a somewhat handsome appearance, but his complexion was too pale, with dark circles under his eyes and eye bags, which should be due to an irregular nightlife. What Han Jin focused on observing was the other's eyes, where there was ridicule, contempt, but not a hint of kindness.
"What's going on?" Xilena rushed up: "You've got it wrong! We're mercenaries! Mercenaries who specialize in escorting this cargo!"
"I know, but you're no longer needed now." The young man's eyes lit up, and his tone slightly softened: "So, do as I command!"
"What makes you think we should put down our weapons?" a warrior shouted loudly, they were all members of the Scarlet Rose Mercenary Group, and the leader of the Scarlet Rose Mercenary Group was Xilena. In Mozhenke's words, Xilena had been fond of causing trouble since she was young, so the mercenary group was just a toy to her, and its overall strength could be imagined. Apart from Xilena, the remaining five or six people were all warriors.
"With this!" The young knight's face turned cold, and with a light wave of his hand, several strong arrows shot out from behind him. The warrior who had spoken disrespectfully was lifted off the ground, flying several meters away. Several arrow feathers were still violently trembling on his body, although not much blood had flowed, it was clear that he would not survive.
"Run...run......" Xue Lina screamed as she rushed forward.
"It seems you are unwilling to cooperate." The young knight sighed, his hand already resting on the hilt of his long sword.
Han Jin and a few others exchanged a glance, although they didn't know why, but they knew what would happen after putting down their weapons, the silent language quickly flashed in their eyes.
Bang... Sasou was the first to throw his magic wand to the ground, Xian Ni'er put down her longbow and slowly knelt down, while Mo Xin Ke remained motionless, as if he still hadn't made up his mind. Han Jin suddenly turned around and shouted: "Miss Gui Li, you have to help us out, those guys are too unreasonable!"
Qī Lì? The young knight was taken aback, he was very familiar with this name, but for a moment, he couldn't remember it. At this time, Hán Jìn yielded half of his body position, and the young knight could only see a small part of Qī Lì's appearance. He was stunned, urged his war horse to move forward a few steps, and when he confirmed that face, his face involuntarily showed a joyful expression. He turned around to issue an order, but unfortunately, he saw a mud wall suddenly rise up.
Mo Xinke let out a loud roar, his body leaping into the air like lightning, his hands grasping the giant sword and chopping down with all his might. The dazzling light of the sword left behind a residual shadow in the air, like an inverted starry sky.
Mo Xin's physique was majestic, and he still held a gigantic sword in his hand that intimidated people. It would often give the enemy an illusion, thinking he was a warrior who relied on brute force to knock down his opponents. In reality, Mo Xin had always excelled at speed and agility. Moreover, he had now broken through his limits. In just an instant, he closed in on the young knight.
The young knight was shocked and quickly drew his long sword to block it.
With a loud crash, if the strength has a considerable gap, the duel between warriors can often be decided in an extremely fast speed, just like when Mosinke fought against the warrior in the 11th town. The young knight let out a mournful cry, he could withstand Mosinke's sword but not his sword light, a bright red blood strip flowed from his forehead down to the left cheek, which was composed of countless blood points, and his left eye couldn't open either. The starlight wrapped in Mosinke's sword energy had already turned that young knight into a blind man, or even possibly a one-eyed dragon.
