Chapter 34: Moving into Juxian Building

Chapter Thirty-Four: Moving into the Gathering Virtues Building

Feng Kun was led by Ji Ying and didn't know that he looked very much like a star named "Chen Kun" in the future, so he wasn't even aware of his own handsomeness.

I remember when I first entered the Holy Sword Hall, there was a junior sister who would often intentionally or unintentionally look for Feng Kun. However, this junior sister stopped coming later on, and the reason was none other than that she had surpassed him.

The personnel matters in Xiuzhentang are very direct and without worldly disguise.

Feng Kun was not reconciled, making every effort, but unable to break through. In this situation, the hope of entering the immortal realm of the sect to cultivate had become extremely slim, and at best, the Holy Sword Hall would give him a decent external assignment to do, and he would live for another hundred or two hundred years, and that would be it.

The whole day passed, and sixty or seventy examinees came, but none of them were satisfactory to Feng Kun.

These people may be geniuses in their own families, but so what? The thing that the path of cultivation is least lacking in is geniuses. Very soon they will find out how painful it is to have a group of geniuses together.

Feng Kun narrowed his eyes, someone had arrived, but he didn't want to open them again. In his heart, he sighed that this "making friends with future heroes" business was going to be a loss.

"Hello big brother, I've come to report for duty."

Feng Kun opened his eyes to see the scholar who had been stopped by someone two hours ago, with a harmless smile on his face, staring at him. Feng Kun snapped out of it and thought that finally, an interesting guy had arrived.

Liang Shan returned to the Autumn Water Pavilion, and his weakness finally disappeared. The sweat on his back had just evaporated. What a close call! If that Nan Yang Wang had insisted on keeping him there, he really wouldn't have been able to leave.

The gate of the immortal is deep and boundless like the sea, this was what Liangshan said to Wang of Nanyang, also a reminder to himself.

"May I ask for directions?" Feng Kun's face was filled with a warm and sunny smile.

Liáng Shān took out the jade pendant from his bosom and handed it over.

Feng Kun's eyes lit up instantly, and he took over the input of Zi Xia's true energy. The jade pendant immediately emitted a warm and gentle glow. Feng Kun nodded and asked, "May I ask how to address you?"

  "My name is Liang Shanbo."

"Ah, it's actually Young Master Liang! I'll take you in!" Feng Kun immediately became enthusiastic and excited. Finally, the holder of the jade pendant had arrived, and Feng Kun had been thinking about this person all along.

All candidates from various places who came to take the exam were arranged in the Ju Xian Building inside the Qiushui Pavilion.

Juxian Building is located in the center of Qiushui Pavilion, surrounded by cypress and pine trees, most of which are several people hugging, high and flat with the building.

The building is three stories high, with a brick-wood structure, similar to the Tulou of the Ma family, but not round in shape, rather octagonal.

Liangshan was led by Feng Kun to the Qian character room on the third floor of the Ju Xian Building.

Feng Kun explained that the candidates all lived on the third floor, mostly four people in one room, distributed among the seven rooms of Kan, Li, Gen, Dui, Zhen, Xun and others. Only the Qian character house had one person per room, with luxurious decorations.

Feng Kun spoke eloquently and with great enthusiasm, causing Liangshan to recall the style of a real estate agent from years ago.

Entering the room, pushing open the window just in time to see Mount Funiu in the distance, the mountains stretching and half-hidden in the sea of clouds. It was indeed a scenic room, and Liangshan was very satisfied. He then took out a small cloth bag from his bosom, which was full of golden beans, and handed it over to Feng Kun, saying: "Elder brother has worked hard."

Feng Kun declined and said: "This is what I should do, how can I accept your things?"

"Master must accept it, it's not worth much money, and in the future, Master will have to take care of me more."

Feng Kun saw that Liangshan was sincere, so he accepted it. Without even touching it, he knew it was gold inside. He thought to himself that the Liangshan family was ordinary, but Feng Kun didn't dare look down on them either. An ordinary family having a jade pendant was indeed a curious thing. Thinking of this, Feng Kun smiled and took out two thin books from his bosom, handing them over to Liangshan, saying: "These are the 'Code of Conduct' of the Holy Sword Hall and the 'General Studies of Cultivation' written by my fellow disciples. Take a look when you have time."

Liáng Shān is overjoyed and thanks him again and again.

After Feng Kun left, Liangshan immediately closed the door and read "Jie Li". These two books are like travel guides for later generations. The earlier you understand them, the earlier you will benefit.

"The Book of Rites" is divided into "Rites" and "Etiquette". The rites originate from within, while etiquette is practiced externally. The goal is to make a person's inner and outer selves consistent.

Liangshan first looked at the "Precepts" chapter, which says: There are many kinds of precepts, and people are also of many types. People of the highest type have no transgressions from the start, and there is no need to hold onto any precepts; people of the middle type have ups and downs in their minds, using precepts to restrain themselves, not allowing indulgence, needing to receive the ten precepts or five precepts; people of the lowest type have all sorts of evil thoughts, needing to receive one hundred ninety-nine precepts...

In the context of Liangshan, all those who enter the Sacred Sword Hall are considered to be intelligent and honest, loyal and filial in the world. They are considered to be middle-grade individuals according to the "Precepts and Rites", and receive the Ten Precepts. The first precept is not to go against one's parents, teachers, or elders, and not to be unfilial. The following precepts include not killing living beings, not committing adultery, not slandering the Dharma, etc., which are similar to the teachings of various religions in Liangshan's past life.

Li Shang re-read the "Etiquette" chapter, and found that the rules for sitting, standing and walking were similar to those in the world, but with more emphasis on details. For example, when kowtowing, one must pay attention to the alignment of body, intention and mind.

Cover up "Jie Li", think silently in his heart about the Liangshan, remember every detail, then look at "Xiuzhen Pu Xue" again.

"Xiū Zhēn Pǔ Xué" is a practical and widely used textbook for later generations by the predecessors.

The opening is an introduction, and all those who cultivate the truth can be called cultivators. The Cultivation Sect is divided into two gates: the Xuan Gate and the Huan Gate. Both gates are located in Dongtian. Each gate has three factions, and each faction is located in Fudi. Under each faction, there are three halls, each stationed in the world. The two gates have a total of eighteen halls, collectively known as the Cultivation Halls. These were mentioned by Zhu Qingyun, but not detailed in the book.

For example, the Orthodox Qing Sect under Xuanmen is located in Zhengqing Fudi, which is thousands of miles long and includes the Holy Sword Hall.

Xuānmén xiūxíng yǐ qīngjié wèi shǒuyào, zhòng tǔnà dǎoyǐn liànqì; huàn mén xiūxíng yǐ huànhuà wèi shǒuyào, zhòng guānxiǎng, huànbiàn.

  Translation:

Xuanmen cultivation takes purity as the primary focus, emphasizing spitting out and taking in, guiding and leading, refining and transforming qi. Huammen cultivation takes transformation as the primary focus, emphasizing visualization, fantasy, and transformation.

Each of these cultivation halls is a renowned sect, and there are also powerful individual cultivators in the world.

Liangshan roughly had an outline in his mind, and as he flipped further down, he saw "meritorious service value".

This is the key point, Liangshan carefully looked at it.

Merit points are the circulating currency within the Holy Sword Temple. For example, working outside for a year earns 10 merit points, and if there is a significant contribution, 10 to 20 points will be added accordingly. Similarly, completing one's annual workload within the temple also earns 10 merit points, and if there is a significant contribution, additional points will be awarded.

Liáng Shān stared with wide eyes, the project that got the most merit points was to create a new skill for the sect, which had a strong encouraging tone towards innovation and invention. A single suitable entry-level skill could be rewarded with 100 points, equivalent to ten years of work.

Slightly inferior is to obtain other sects' skills that can be borrowed outside, which also rewards around 80 points for beginners. Of course, if you get a clue about an ancient Xianmen sect's treasure, tell the Shengjian Hall and the reward will be unlimited, depending on the specific situation.

There is reward and punishment, doing wrong things will deduct merit points.

Liáng Shān took a closer look and suddenly discovered that the merit value had nothing to do with the secular world. For example, doing good deeds and charitable acts in the secular world did not correspondingly reflect on one's merit value. Therefore, merit value and moral virtue are two different concepts.

No wonder, Liangshan had previously thought of cultivating his true self, first by purifying his heart and body, clearing his mind and desires, being intelligent and upright, and being loyal and filial. If people like that cultivate their true selves in a place, wouldn't it be harmonious everywhere? However, the experience of Lao Xin in Zhengqing Fudi was not the case - the arrogance and domineering attitude of the outer door disciples were clearly not the same thing. The value of merit directly affects the promotion of disciples, so internal competition can be imagined to be fierce.

Looking again, the third highest merit value project is the annual top ten disciples' competition for each level. Seeing this, Liangshan understood that this was to encourage internal competition among disciples within the system. By obtaining the title of Top Ten, not only would their merit value be high, but they would also receive a precious gift from the sect, thus forming a situation where the strong became stronger and the weak weaker, making the competition even more brutal.

There are indeed many twists and turns inside, Liangshan thought with a sigh after finishing reading.
