Raid 30
Innumerable planes collectively formed the vast Toril universe, including the Material Plane, Elemental Planes, Positive and Negative Energy Planes, the Upper Planes where deities resided, and the Lower Planes of Hell and the Abyss where demons and devils lived. These planes were collectively known as the Outer Planes.
The etheric plane and the shadowy plane overlap with the physical realm, the etheric plane is a plane composed of invisible spiritual substances that permeate the physical realm, while the relationship between the shadowy plane and the physical realm is like the black-and-white base of a color photograph. Although its shape is almost indistinguishable from the physical realm, it is actually composed of completely different shadowy substances.
Such a world composed of shadowy substances is naturally favored by many shadow creatures, and Sharr's enormous influence on this plane also makes it a habitat for many shadow mages who use the power of the Night Lady.
The most famous residents of this plane are the ancient Netherese survivors from the City of Shade, who survived the disaster that destroyed their empire by hiding in the Plane of Shadow and reappeared thousands of years later above Faer?n.
On the outskirts of Ferren, due to the special climate causing a special disturbance in space, cracks in the shadow plane often appear in these places. Laisserman is no exception, and it is said that every midnight, there are shadow cracks appearing all over Laisserman. In unreliable legends, there are also traces of Shadow Cities.
To enter the Shadowfell, one only needs to use a specific method and pass through the ubiquitous shadows of Faer?n. Penny Sian is now carefully searching for any hint of magical residue in this dilapidated dwarf tower, trying to guess where the lich Orcus entered the Shadowfell.
In the hours between midnight and dawn, the trolls ceased their foraging activities. Pannier prepared spells before dawn when the magical web was updated, carrying a large amount of supplies, led by Witch Sally Fen to arrive at Okrus's residence at dawn.
Seeking the vestiges of Shadowface, Penny is the only one who can do such a thing. The Holy Warriors are completely ignorant of Arcana, while the Mages and Bards can sense the power of Arcana but cannot accurately identify and analyze it, just like an illiterate person can speak and listen but not read or write.
As the sole researcher of Arcana, Penny's actions were questioned by several others:
"You've been searching for nine hours." Anel looked a bit impatient: "Can't you find out where that damned old man entered the Shadow Plane?"
"Pay attention! Sir." Sally Fen said with displeasure: "The old man you're talking about is the elder of the witches' coven."
"Sorry, sorry, I'm used to it again." Anel smiled wryly.
"The bishop taught me that only inferior people make disrespect a habit." The female saint warrior lifted her head and looked at Anel: "I'm increasingly convinced of Captain Kamajo's assessment of you, Mr. Stefani."
"What kind of logic is this?" The poet was greatly annoyed: "I'm just straightforward."
"That just proves you don't have much respect for anyone in your heart." The female Saint Warrior said seriously: "Mr. Stefan, you need to improve your manners."
Being rebuked by a girl several years younger than himself for lacking upbringing, Anel looked like he had been greatly shocked, covering his mouth and staggering to Penny's side: "Penny, my character has been trampled upon mercilessly."
"This is a matter of course." Penny didn't mean to comfort at all, continuing to lower her head and inspect the marks that emitted mysterious power, with a relaxed expression on her face: "Found it already."
"Found it?" Several people gathered around together.
"Right here." Penny walked to a corner of the room, amidst several mirrors facing each other: "If I'm not mistaken, at midnight, moonlight from outside will shine in through the window and be reflected by these mirrors onto the magic circle in the middle, triggering arcane power that will push whatever is inside into the shadow plane."
"Is that all?"
"In fact, the principle is quite complicated and I'm not entirely clear about it myself." Panni shook his head and stepped back from the mirror: "Mr. Oculos is indeed an extraordinary arcanist researcher; even if I had the same power as him, I fear I wouldn't be able to set up this spell array."
"So, we wait until nightfall and then go in." Anel strode in carelessly, examining the patterns on those few mirrors, carefully sensing, and indeed discovered the hidden arcane power. In his heart, he suddenly felt admiration for Penny, a professional researcher of arcana was indeed more reliable than a spellcaster who relied on bloodline.
"But I think we should consider it carefully before deciding whether to enter." Panni thought for a moment, hesitating to continue: "The symbols on these mirrors are extremely complex. I've only identified about half of them. The remaining parts seem to contain even more complex powers and are very difficult to recognize. If we rashly enter, who knows what consequences will occur?"
Several people heard Penny say this and hesitated at the same time.
After all, the power of the law is profound and unpredictable. If there is a slight mistake, the consequences are unthinkable. It's not wise to enter recklessly without making it clear.
"Whatever it takes, I'll go in and take a look." Witch Sally thought for a moment, made up her mind: "I must find the elder, this is my duty."
"I'll go with you too, Miss Sally." Sara clenched her fist, though it sounded perilous, but at this moment she thought of the children in the outpost: "We must end this disaster here as soon as possible."
"Whatever happens, the witches will remember you, Thiel's messenger." Sallyfen said gratefully.
Penny and Annel exchanged a glance, shaking their heads in unison. At this point, they couldn't back down without involving matters of dignity. Abandoning their companions wasn't something Penny was willing to do either.
"Let me take another look, at least to make sure this formation is safe." Although he had been in the attic for almost a day, it was still some distance from midnight, and Penny continued to examine the formation, with no one disturbing him nearby.
It was dusk again, and the tower on Mount Lethrman was surrounded by silence. The wind howled along the dilapidated brick walls, and several people who were not ordinary, with good physiques, felt uncomfortable after being blown by the cold wind all day. Serra, from Tumiss on the south coast of Fallen Star Sea, was still not adapted to this weather, sneezed, and suddenly heard a low growl in the wind:
"Be careful!"
Several people stood up, and suddenly a loud noise came from outside the brick wall. In the intense collapse and vibration, a chaotic roar was heard by everyone's ears. More than a dozen giant demons had somehow surrounded the small cottage!
"Damn it." Anel muttered under his breath, pulled out a flute and played a clear melody, which made the people around him feel slightly more awake.
Fireball!
Sally swung her hand, a huge flame ball condensed in front of her, shooting rapidly towards the giant demon, producing an astonishing explosion. Three giant demons were blown to pieces on the spot.
Due to their lack of refinement in Arcane research, most mages are accustomed to using crude destructive spells, so Plastination magic is the favorite among mages.
It happened suddenly, and when everyone had a reaction, the giant demon was already close at hand. Although a fireball spell blew up some of them, the scattered flesh and flames further stimulated the ferocity of the giant demon, which let out a loud roar and rushed forward, stretching out its thick and long claws to strike the female holy warrior who stood in front.
Clang!
The long sword and sharp claws collided, producing a metallic crashing sound. The razor-sharp sword left deep gashes on the giant's claws, and the sparks of electricity caused the giant to let out a pained howl. However, more giants charged over, quickly leaving the holy warrior at a loss.
Blade of Agony
Panni also completed the incantation at this time, and a handle of intangible light knife floated beside him. The blade was full of twisted ghost faces, struggling to escape from the knife body, with long and serrated fangs in their mouths, making people tremble with fear.
As soon as the knife appeared, the ghost face on it let out a sharp whistle and immediately chopped down a giant demon that was charging over. A ghost face drilled into the wound, and the giant demon let out an extremely sharp scream, as if it had suffered extreme fear, hugged its head and started rushing around aimlessly. The knife continued to chop down several giant demons, and the fleeing and escaping giant demons instantly caused quite a commotion among the group of giant demons.
Panny once again cast Web and Grease in succession, combining with Anel's 'Baragorn Iron Horn' to cause a slight earthquake, successfully knocking down most of the giants who had rushed into the small building. The Holy Warrior's long sword swept away the scattered struggling giants, while at the same time, Sally's second fireball had taken shape.
Suddenly, a low chanting voice rose from the crowd of demons, and a gust of wind blew through, blowing away the cobwebs and grease in the room. Sally was caught off guard and blown over by the strong wind. The fireball flew out not far and exploded in mid-air, instantly sending the four people flying.
"Spellcaster!" Panni saw that among the giant demons, a guy with a wooden staff, hunched back and seemingly old, was staring at the people on the ground with narrowed eyes, opening his mouth to speak in unsteady Common Speech:
"Surrender, and you will not be killed."
The ogre was indeed barbaric, but also a wise being. It wasn't surprising that there were spellcasters among them. However, when Penny heard his words, she snorted in derision:
"Don't kill us, what will you eat? Mr. Ogre, your trick is too low-level."
"Wicked creature, perish!" Serena shouted, her hands holding the sword raised high above her head, and with a leap she struck at the giant sorcerer, the blade emitting a divine light that made one dare not look directly.
Painful Blade stealthily launches a sneak attack on the Great Mage in the dark, although the mage's mind is usually very firm and not easily affected by fear, but the severe pain wounds caused by Painful Blade will still interfere with the casting.
Anel's flute emitted a more urgent and chaotic sound, the sound pierced into the giant demons' ears, their originally not-too-bright minds were instantly disrupted, and their movements became slower.
The giant wizard didn't panic, apparently his relatively long life had given him ample combat experience. A giant demon appeared in front of him, blocking the holy warrior's slash. He chanted a spell, and a hot air flow rapidly swirled around his body. A bright white sphere suddenly appeared in front of him.
"It's a chain explosion, don't let him finish!" Panni shouted loudly. Sally had already thrown out a fireball!
Rumble!
The fireball and the white incandescent sphere collided, producing an astonishing explosion. The flames instantly engulfed the entire floor of the small building. Penny felt a brief deafness and blindness. Amidst the daze, she seemed to sense a faint sound of shattering. As her senses slightly recovered, she raised her eyes to see that the array of mirrors in the corner of the room was emitting an intense radiance.
Not good.
Pani's heart sank as he realized it was a disturbance of the arcane power that had altered the formation of the law array.
Another deafening explosion, Penny felt the world in front of her seemed to shatter, and she lost consciousness amidst the crisp sound.
