Iris had lifted the completed dress high into the sky, the pure white dress shimmering in the evening sun. it was a simple dress, pure white and plain but to her it didn’t matter, it was the first thing anyone had given her and it was all she could ever have asked for. She could spend days admiring it, feeling the soft silky texture, the light shimmer it had in the light, everything.
“You could um, wear it…”
“Ah, right.” That was indeed what these clothes were for in the first place, wasn’t it. Stirred by Lily Iris slipped the dress on over her head and fixed the rest into place. The dress did feel nice on her, it was the perfect fit. She gave a little twirl “Wonder what the specifics are?” She then decided to appraise it.
“….Hey Lily?”
“What?” Lily, who had been solemnly inspecting the carapace remains, looked up “Don’t like it?”
“Nono, its perfect. Its just…what is these effects?”
“Effects?” Lily got up, petering on over to her “What do you mean, effects?”
“This dress, It has some effects like auto cleaning and auto repair, I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Lily touched the bottom of the dress, inspecting it for a moment before shrugging “Don’t know, first time too.”
“Hrm?” Iris appraised the dress lily was wearing, finding no effects on it she gave up. “Oh well, maybe we can find something out later. Speaking of, where should we go?” She was fine with anywhere, she wanted to see the world, gather new followers, and more importantly get more CP.
“well… Other mother came from a town nearby she talked about sometimes.” She looked up towards the sun that had passed beyond it’s highest point “She said it’s towards the west outside of the forest.”
“Sounds like a plan!” Iris nodded “let’s get out of this forest first and see what we can find.” She said, starting to walk away but was stopped by Lily.
“Wait!”
Iris turned around, seeing Lily standing next to the carapace “What?”
“We should take this.”
“Huh? But isn’t that your mother?”
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Lily shook her head “My mother was a monster… a pretty strong one, my other mother was an adventurer and said monster parts go for a lot of gold, something used to by stuff.” Lily said, patting the corpse “Other mother told me to pick some herbs or sell my thread to get gold so I could stay in town, if we have this we won’t need to.”
“I see, well if your fine with it, lets take it along.” Iris nodded, having no clue what this black half broken abdomen of an Arachne would go for, but it was better then nothing she supposed. She walked over and effortlessly lifted the thing over her head, but quickly frowned.
While carrying it was no big deal, transporting it and dragging it along would be annoying… one quick glance to the tree line confirmed this, the thing was wider than the gaps in the trees… “Hrm, maybe…” she tried to imagine a skill that would help her in this situation.
“Yeah, that isn’t happening.” Ignoring the puzzled look from Lily she thought to herself, she really didn’t want to drag this around but paying five thousand wasn’t possible, maybe something else? What even was Extradimensional storage?
[Skill: Extradimensional Storage: An entire extra dimension the same size of the current universe worth of space to hold any and all items, the space is truly limitless.]
‘That is excessive… I only want to hold this thing…’ Her face lit up, getting an idea ‘wait, maybe I can make it smaller?’
‘Close! Smaller!’
[Skill: Item Box: The skill desired by everyone, a small pocket between space that holds unliving objects. The size of the space is limited to 10 cubic meters.]
‘That will work!’ Iris thought, getting the skill immediately.
She then attempted to use it, the carapace in her hands vanishing instantly “It works perfectly!” Iris shouted in joy.
“Wait, where did it go?!” Lily asked, confused by the sudden disappearance of the remains.
“I got the skill item box, its apparently in another space or something.” She held out her hand, the carapace appearing in it briefly before vanishing again. “Now I don’t have to drag that thing through the forest, it’ll be easier.”
Lily, still a bit confused, nodded slowly “o..k..?”
“Well, now if there isn’t anything else, lets go?” she said, turning around to head off in another direction but stopped yet again by Lily.
“Wait, one more thing.”
Iris was just about to turn around but froze, feeling a sharp and hard…thing? Stick to the bottom of her leg, followed by another on the opposite side, and another, and another… then the feeling started going up her thigh… she slowly looked behind her, finally seeing what was happening.
Lily was climbing up her back.
She was frozen in place by the odd sensation of a large spider climbing up her, then once she was up on her back, wrapped all 6 of her legs around her with her two graspers plopped down on her shoulder.
“Ok, ready.” Lily said.
“Uh, lily.” Iris looked back to her, who seemed quite comfortable in her position of being a makeshift backpack.
“Yes Iris?”
“Why are you on my back?”
Lily crooked her head to the side “Can I not be?”
“…” Iris considered, it didn’t feel that uncomfortable once she got settled, and testing it with slight movements Lily’s additional weight and the position of her legs did not impede her. In fact, the only hard part of her spider legs were the tips, everything else was covered in fur, so it was quite comfortable… like she was wearing some heavy clothes, it just made her want to snuggle the spider.
“Eh, its fine.” Iris shrugged, giving up. She ignored the subtle “yay” she heard from lily and just smiled “Hold on tight, let’s get out of this forest.” And with that said and no more interruptions, the two finally started heading out of the forest.
