Chapter 2: Sin
Without much effort, Qin Lang passed the city gate inspection. Although the process was not tortuous, it still left Qin Lang speechless.
When checking, the soldiers at the city gate found that Qin Lang's luggage was actually a package of packaged wine and dishes, and there were no other items except for this. One by one, they couldn't help but be biased against this clean and honest guy. However, it was also because of this reason that these soldiers guarding the city gate did not ask too many questions.
"Hmph, they're just some watchdogs, what's so great about them. Sooner or later, I, Qin Guang, will return with glory." Qin Guang secretly despised these officials and soldiers who looked down on people, but he didn't dare say it out loud.
A person walked in the night, Qin Huan couldn't help but start lamenting again. It had almost become a habit for Qin Huan to lament without reason. Qin Huan was actually an unfortunate person, from the time he could remember, he seemed to have been living alone, with no relatives or friends, relying solely on himself, and had lived until now. In the process, he had experienced countless hardships and sorrows that ordinary people couldn't imagine. This also made Qin Huan very melancholic. For over a decade, Qin Huan had heard from others that the place where he lived was actually a Heavenly Realm. Under the heavens, there was also a Mortal Realm. There were countless humans living there, just like himself, but Qin Huan couldn't understand why people in the Mortal Realm yearned for the Heavenly Realm so much. Perhaps they didn't know that life here was almost the same as in the Mortal Realm. Here, there were still people who suffered from hunger, wore tattered clothes, and slept poorly.
"Never mind, I don't want to think about those useless things anymore. For now, I should find a safe place to spend the night." As he thought, Qin Cang began to look for a place to stay overnight.
Finally, before the night fell completely, Qin Lang found a relatively clean cave. A fire was lit at the entrance of the cave, and Qin Lang lay down inside the cave.
Just as Qin Lang was sleeping soundly, a burst of clashing swords and ringing metal entered his ears. Qin Lang sprang up immediately, extinguished the fire at the entrance of the cave, and covered it with mud that he had prepared beforehand. In an instant, the cave, which had been illuminated by the flickering flames, was hidden in darkness.
Qin Lang quietly made his way to the place where the golden sound was coming from, hiding behind a large tree. Qin Lang saw the scene of two sides fighting.
One side of the battle consisted of about a dozen black-clad warriors, while the other side was made up of dozens of burly men wearing tattered clothing and wielding large knives, who surrounded the black-clad warriors in the middle, making jesting sounds as they continuously attacked. The black-clad warriors were clearly at a disadvantage, their defensive circle shrinking under the attack of the ragged giants, and it was only a matter of time before they were breached. In the center of the black-clad warriors lay an old man wearing gray robes, his chest covered in crimson, already stained with blood. Beside the old man stood a woman dressed in purple clothes, her face obscured, one hand covering the old man's wound as she sobbed quietly, her eyes revealing endless despair.
On the other side, there were five or six horse-drawn carriages, but they had already been taken over by some rough-looking men who were rummaging through their contents.
Seeing this scene, Qin Lang had already had a general idea. It should be that the old man brought these black-clothed warriors to transport the goods on the horse-drawn carriages, and these ragged men were local mountain bandits who came to rob them. However, after these bandits robbed the wealth, they planned to kill everyone present.
For the old man who had fallen to the ground, and the young woman who was sobbing so hard that her face was obscured, as well as these black-clad warriors on the verge of being slaughtered, Qin Liang felt deep sympathy in his heart. However, it was only limited to sympathy, Qin Liang did not have the ability to lend a helping hand.
With a sigh in his heart, Qin Lang was ready to quietly retreat. Since he couldn't intervene, it was better to leave this place of right and wrong.
The black-clad warriors finally couldn't hold on, the defensive circle was breached, and cries of despair echoed out. In a short while, more than ten black-clad warriors were slaughtered to the ground.
The black-clad warriors were killed, but the ragged men did not continue to attack. Instead, they surrounded the gray-robed old man and the woman in the middle. At this time, the ragged men automatically made way for a path, and a man wearing tattered clothes walked out from behind them.
The tattered clothes, the little bald-headed boy walked from the crowd to the front of the gray-haired old man.
"Hahaha, Lin Feng old man, I told you not to resist, just hand over this beauty and I'll spare your lives. But no, you had to be stubborn. Look at these warriors, they're all dead because of you!" The bald-headed little man sneered at the black-robed elder, then turned his gaze to the woman crouching beside the gray-robed elder, his eyes gleaming with evil intent.
The burly men around him also burst into bursts of evil laughter.
"Xu Batian, I'm warning you, if you dare to touch Miss even slightly, the Lin family of Luoyang will definitely slaughter your entire Batian Village." The old man named Lin Feng shouted out with all his might at the bald and short young man.
When Xu Bao Tian heard the name of Lin's family in Luoyang, his eyes narrowed and a hint of fear emerged. He was just a bandit leader in the hundred-mile mountain range, relying on this group of vicious thugs to commit robbery and theft. In contrast, the Lin family in Luoyang was an extremely large and influential family. Compared to the Lin family, he was like an ant compared to an elephant. By robbing the Lin family's goods, he had already greatly offended them.
"Xu Batian, if you spare me and the young lady, I promise that after this is over, we will not mention today's events to anyone. The Lin family will absolutely not take any revenge. Consider these things as ransom for me and the young lady. What do you think?" Lin Feng saw the apprehension in Xu Batian's eyes, seemingly seeing a glimmer of hope, and hastily continued to persuade him.
Xu Batian took a deep look at Lin Feng, and then greedily looked at the purple-clothed woman again. The fear in his eyes was instantly replaced by an evil light.
"Lin Feng, only dead men can keep secrets. If you're all dead, naturally no one will know it was us who did this. So..." Xu Ba Tian said, picking up the large knife in his hand and pointing it at Lin Feng.
"Xu Batian, you will pay the price for what you have done today!" Lin Feng's eyes looked hopeless, struggling with his last breath, and shouted: "Miss, I'm sorry to you, master, I'm guilty!"
"Shut up! Get out of the way!" Xu Biaotian's hand rose and fell. The gray-robed old man Lin Feng finally also fell under Xu Biaotian's blade.
He killed Lin Feng, Xu Batian put away his big knife and smiled at the purple-clothed woman: "Heh heh, little beauty, now that this troublesome person is dead, it's your turn to play with me."
Xu Batian chuckled and rubbed his hands together as he walked towards the woman in purple.
The woman in purple seemed to have been scared speechless, sitting paralyzed on the ground, her two feet pushing against the ground, backing away while looking at Xue Batian with increasing terror.
Xu Batian approached the woman in purple clothes, stripping off his own clothes, and judging from his appearance, he actually intended to do something shameful to this woman right here in the wilderness, in front of these dozens of bandits.
As Xu Bao Tian approached, the purple-robed woman became increasingly terrified. As she retreated, she bumped into a black-clad warrior's corpse and surprisingly didn't let out any screams. Instead, she picked up the deceased black-clad warrior's sword and pointed it at Xu Bao Tian.
"Hey, brothers, take a look at this little beauty. She still wants to fight with me?" Xu Ba Tian said with a laugh to the bandits behind him, "Brothers, after I'm done playing with her, I'll give her to all of you. Hahaha..."
"Hehe!"
"That's great!"
"Long live the leader!"
The bandits were suddenly filled with excitement, and let out a burst of sinister laughter.
The woman in purple heard Xu Biao Tian's words, her face was already extremely ashamed and angry, throwing the dagger in her hand at Xu Biao Tian, but it was easily dodged by Xu Biao Tian. The woman in purple stood up and turned to run away. The bandits did not chase after her, instead they made way for a path, Xu Biao Tian laughed loudly towards the sky and chased after her naked, shouting "Wait for me brothers, hahaha!!!"
The woman in purple clothes ran desperately and actually ran towards the direction of the big tree where Qin Guang was hiding.
"Damn it!" Qin Lang cursed in his heart as he watched the purple-robed woman getting closer and closer to him, with a bald-headed naked man chasing after her.
