Chapter 4: The Trial Without Reward
A dizzying sensation instantly invaded Qin's nerves, the space around him constantly twisting and distorting, causing his body to uncontrollably twist along with it. The feeling was as if the muscles on his body were being torn apart thread by thread, and even his bones were being smashed one by one like a hammer. The intense tearing pain made Qin extremely agonized, his eyes filled with bloodshot, his pupils bulging out as if they were about to pop out, his mouth wide open but unable to make any sound.
"It's all over, I'm done for this time!" Qin Lang was furious in his heart, but his hand still tightly grasped the purple-robed woman's hand, not loosening his grip in the slightest.
Qin Lang had never experienced such suffering before. Compared to now, being beaten by others in the past was like scratching an itch. He didn't know how long this state would last, but he knew he couldn't pass out. The unknown was the most terrifying thing - he had no idea where he was or why he was in his current situation. In such a situation, if he lost consciousness, it would be equivalent to being in the most dangerous situation, because after passing out, there was a possibility that he might never wake up again.
Qin Lang didn't know what the purple-robed woman's physical condition was like at this moment. If she was also enduring the same pain as him, perhaps she had already fainted from endurance. Perhaps she was already dead, it couldn't be said for sure. However, Qin Lang still tightly grasped her hand. Qin Lang asked himself and wasn't a particularly great person, but since he had promised to save her, then no matter what kind of danger this was, he absolutely wouldn't abandon her and leave her unattended.
Space is still distorted, Qin Lang now can't even feel the pain in his body, his sense of pain has been numbed, only a deep feeling of fatigue remains, his eyes are slightly closed, as if he could fall asleep at any moment. Countless times, Qin Lang wanted to give up and just sleep, that way he wouldn't have to suffer so much anymore, but Qin Lang had a conviction in his heart that supported him to keep going.
It's a pity.
No, Qin Huan was not reconciled. He was not reconciled to dying here like this, he was not reconciled to his young life coming to an end. He still had a great dream in his own eyes, he still wanted to be a heavenly soldier, even if that didn't count for anything in other people's eyes.
What's more, there was one thing he hadn't done. That thing seemed to have never been told to him by anyone, but from the time he could remember, it had been deeply imprinted in his mind, as if engraved on Qin Lang's brain. His intuition told him that this matter was very important to him.
Finally, the distorted space was gradually returning to normal, and the tearing sensation on his body also slowly stopped. The faintly visible scene in Qin Chuan's line of sight slowly became clear.
"Is it finally over?" Qin Lang didn't even know who he was asking, it just subconsciously slipped out of his mouth.
"That's right, it's over!" A low and melancholic voice sounded in Qin Liang's ear.
Qin Huan suddenly felt a thrill, and here someone actually answered himself? Was that person always watching himself? Or was all of this caused by the owner of that voice?
"Who are you?" Qin Guang looked around, trying to find the source of this voice, but no matter how hard Qin Guang tried, what was imprinted in his eyes was still that slightly distorted space.
"Who am I?" The low and melancholic voice sounded again, as if it had fallen into thought because of Qin Liang's question, and seemed to be asking itself.
"Heh heh, if you hadn't asked, I'd almost forgotten who I am." A hint of bitterness crept into his voice. "Who I am isn't important; can you tell me which heavenly realm you're from?"
"I come from the Eastern Emperor Heaven." Qin Lang's body was still unable to move, and he could still faintly feel the pain from earlier. However, since he couldn't do anything at the moment, it was better to just honestly answer.
"Too much heaven? Hehe, not bad, not bad." The vicissitudes of life in his voice actually had a hint of joy, "Young man, what's your name?"
Qin Lang
"Qin Lang, haha, what a great name! What a great name!" After a burst of laughter, the voice disappeared, as if thinking about something.
"Hey, I've answered all your questions, now shouldn't you tell me where this place is and what's going on?" Qin Lang hastily asked as the voice disappeared.
It's still quiet all around without anything
This made Qin Huan panic. It was hard to come by a living creature, and it was his only hope for survival. If it just disappeared like this, what would he do?
"Hero, hero, respond! If you don't speak up now, I'll have to take drastic measures!" Qin Guang repeated the words of the purple-robed woman who had begged him for help earlier, shouting non-stop.
"Haha, little guy, you won't die that easily. You've already passed the test I set for you. I won't let you die so easily!" The weathered voice sounded again.
"What test? What kind of test?" Qin Lang was clearly somewhat perplexed.
"You have passed through the twisted space channel to get here, which means you have a very firm belief. That belief will be the most solid support for your future path. This is the first test, and those who do not have a firm conviction in their hearts cannot pass."
"Is that the first test?" Qin Lang lowered his head and fell into deep thought. In that distorted space, he had endured unimaginable suffering that ordinary people could hardly imagine. At that time, it was indeed the faith in his heart that supported him, otherwise he would have fainted long ago.
"What about the second pass?" Qin Lang asked.
"The second one is the girl next to you." Cang Sang's voice sounded again, with a hint of appreciation in his tone.
"What about her? What's the relationship between you two?" Qin Lin unconsciously tightened his grip on the purple-robed woman's hand, turning his head to look at her with a furrowed brow.
At this moment, the woman in purple had already fallen into a coma, her disheveled hair fluttering wildly in the distorted space, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, and her lips tightly pursed together.
It seemed that the weathered voice had seen Qin Lang's concern, and said: "Don't worry, she just fainted, her body didn't suffer any damage. The pain you experienced earlier, she didn't feel a bit of it."
Upon hearing this, Qin Lang finally let out a sigh of relief. This kind of suffering was hard for him to bear himself, and he couldn't imagine what kind of torture it would be if it were inflicted on the girl.
"What's this second pass you're talking about?"
"The first pass tests faith, and the second pass tests human nature."
Human Nature?
"That's right, when a person is struggling to save themselves, no matter how much suffering they are enduring, they can still manage not to abandon their friends by their side. They want to live together and die together. Although I don't know what kind of relationship you have with her, but you can stick to it without giving up. A person like you will always have a compassionate heart, whether it's towards friends, family or anyone else." The hoarse voice became increasingly excited, seemingly extremely praising Qin Cang's behavior.
He continued: "Although you look a bit shabby, I can still see the kindness hidden deep in your heart under that shabby face."
"Wow! Are you praising me or mocking me?" Qin Lang rolled his eyes, extremely dissatisfied with this weathered voice describing him as despicable. Although he couldn't be considered a handsome man, at the very least, he looked passable. This was the first time someone had described him as despicable.
Qin Lang actually knew that the most common thing people called him was "despicable person". Thinking of those restaurant owners' furious faces, Qin Lang subconsciously curled his lips.
"Now that I've passed the test, what benefits do I get?" Qin Lang asked, his own suffering couldn't be endured in vain, if it was a test, then passing it should also have some benefits.
"What benefits? Haha, there are no more benefits." The melancholic voice sounded again.
"Damn it, I've endured so much suffering and passed the test you called a trial, yet you're telling me there's no benefit at all?" Qin Lang suddenly roared in anger. He had thought that by passing the so-called trial, he would at least gain some benefits, but instead, he got such an answer.
"Hey, little guy, don't get excited. It's really not worth it..." The old man's voice was tinged with a hint of teasing.
"This trial is just a condition for you to be alive and enter here."
"Now I'm already here, what are you going to do?" Qin Lang rolled his eyes impatiently.
"Heh heh, little guy, you passed the test. Are you willing to accept a deal?"
