Chapter 1 Introduction to Objects

  Chapter 0001 Introduction of Object

At midnight, the crescent moon hangs high.

As a southeastern coastal metropolis, Lin'an is much quieter than its bustling daytime counterpart.

But the city lights still shine like countless stars, as if they are humanity's endless desires, trying to ignite the dark and silent night sky.

An old blue Jetta taxi turned from Binjiang Road and slowly drove towards a large hotel with bright lights.

The taxi driver was a young man in his early twenties, with a plain short haircut, wearing a white cotton short-sleeved shirt that had been washed until it was slightly yellowed, and a pair of tattered jeans bought from a roadside stall.

The young man's appearance was not bad, with sun-kissed wheat-colored skin, dense and thick eyebrows, a high nose bridge, clear-cut facial features, and some sparse stubble, exuding a bit of masculinity.

In front of it was a one and a half minute long red light, the young man stepped on the brake and directly put it in park.

He pulled out a pack of two-dollar soft-pack Daqianmen cigarettes, lit one and put it in his mouth, with one hand leaning against the window frame and the other on the gearshift, tapping to the rhythm of the square dance music coming from the radio.

It's May now, in Lin'an of southern China, summer has arrived. Even at night, the temperature is still over 10 or 20 degrees Celsius.

In the evening, open the car window and blow some cool breeze, which can save a lot of money on air conditioning.

At this time, a silver-gray Nokia flip phone with a black and white screen next to him rang out the old-fashioned "ding-dong" ringtone.

The man picked up, his mouth slightly raised, revealing a hint of old Chen's smile that didn't match his age.

  "Old willow, is there something?"

The old willow on the other end of the phone laughed with a slightly hoarse voice: "Lin Fei, there's nothing important, it's just that your sister-in-law said to let you come home for dinner tomorrow, Jing Lan is coming back and she's been wanting to introduce you two for a long time, isn't that right?"

The young man furrowed his brow and said tactfully, "Old Liu, I think we should just forget it. Your daughter is a PhD student, while I'm someone with no qualifications and no job - how could I possibly be a match for her?"

"Hey! Don't mention that useless Ph.D. to me! If it weren't for spending all our savings on this girl's education over the years, we wouldn't be in a situation where we can't even afford to pay for your sister-in-law's medical expenses, and now I have to bother you to help me make some extra money by working night shifts." Old Liu said with a sigh.

"It doesn't matter, anyway I won't help you with the shift. With my education background, I can only work on construction sites, helping you with the shift would just earn me a bit more."

"Is your rent enough for this month? If you really don't have enough money, I can lend you a few hundred."

"Farewell, you're all so stingy yourselves, how could I possibly ask you for money at this time?" Lin Fei said.

"Haha, I like your stubbornness, don't worry about me teasing you. To be honest, I've been a bit tight on cash lately. Anyway, both I and your sister-in-law want to thank you. Jinglan is too picky, she's almost 26 and still doesn't have a decent boyfriend."

Since she doesn't think much of those rich young masters, I'll introduce you to her. Your character is impeccable and you're willing to work hard, both my sister-in-law and I have a high opinion of you!

Jing Lan may have been unwilling at first, but relying on my relationship with your sister-in-law, forcing her to go through the motions will definitely be fine! Once she sees your good side, she might even become willing herself.

Lin Fei could tell that Old Liu and his wife were genuinely trying to set him up with Liu Jinglan, although he thought it was basically impossible, but he didn't want to disappoint them either, so he might as well just have dinner together.

The green light is on, Lin Fei put down his mobile phone and continued on his way.

They hadn't gone far when two burly men, wearing vests and with muscular arms, suddenly rushed out of an alley, one of them carrying a large sack.

One of them, a burly man with a square face, rushed directly in front of the taxi and blocked it.

Lin Fei stopped the car and glanced at the heavy hemp sack, a hint of unusual color flashing in his eyes.

The bald-headed man with a sack on his back immediately opened the trunk at the back and put the sack in.

Then two big men sat in the car, one in front and one behind.

"Where are you two brothers headed?" Lin Fei asked with a smile, also flipping on the meter.

"Go up S4 highway first! Quick!" The big-faced man seemed very anxious, staring at the alley.

Lin Fei nodded and slowly set off on his journey.

"Is this broken car an electric vehicle?! Are you stepping on the brakes?! Do you even know how to drive?! Hurry up!!" Fang shouted angrily.

Lin Fei smiled awkwardly and pointed to the camera on the traffic light ahead, "Brother, this is a city area, there are cameras taking pictures, speeding will result in fines."

Just then, a black Volkswagen sedan came out of the alley behind and chased after Lin Fei's taxi.

  "What's wrong with you!!"

His square face looked ominous, and he suddenly pulled out a sharp dagger from the back of his waist and placed it directly at Lin Fei's side, "I'm in a hurry! Do you believe that if you keep talking nonsense, I'll stab you to death myself?! What do you want, money or your life?!"

The Great Han revealed his ferocious and sinister side at this moment, with two copper bell-like tiger eyes full of fierce light.

Lin Fei wasn't afraid, just a bit depressed, "Alright... I'll drive faster then".

"Don't let the cars behind catch up! Step on the gas to the maximum!"

"Alright... but don't shake your hand, this knife is too sharp", Lin Fei nodded continuously, adding more strength.

Before long, the taxi sped away like an arrow off the string, ignoring speed limits and running red lights all the way to the highway entrance.

And the black Volkswagen behind was also chasing closely, but the driver's skills seemed to be slightly inferior to Lin Fei, and he couldn't get closer, often forced to slow down and turn, which would open up a small gap.

A few minutes later, the car got on the highway. The square-faced big man looked at the Volkswagen being pulled away from a distance, but not shaken off, and couldn't help but say again with dissatisfaction: "Faster! Faster!!"

Lin Fei smiled bitterly, "This big brother, my car has already reached the electronic speed limit, no matter how hard I step on the gas pedal, it can't go any faster. That car is obviously going much faster than mine."

"What the! You're really useless!" The square-faced man gritted his teeth, thinking that Lin Fei seemed to be driving faster on the detour, so he said: "Take the next exit off the highway and then turn right and keep going".

Lin Fei obediently followed the instructions, drove for a while after getting off the highway and turned right into an industrial development zone.

The industrial zone's cement road was desolate at night, with only streetlights illuminating the empty factory area, without a single sign of human presence.

After being chased for a distance on the highway, the black Volkswagen was now very close, as if it would catch up at any moment.

Two cars whizzed by on the cement road, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"Get out of here and ditch that car!" the big man ordered.

Lin Fei didn't care either way, this way he could earn some extra money anyway.

After running around for more than ten minutes, the car behind actually fell back because its driving skills were not as good as Lin Fei's.

At this time, the car had already left the development zone and entered a piece of undeveloped land on the outskirts of the city that was still under construction.

Two big men saw that the car behind had disappeared, and their faces lit up with joy. The square-faced one nodded in satisfaction: "Kid, your driving skills are pretty good, I'm quite satisfied. Pull over."

"Ah, okay," Lin Fei said with a smile as he pulled over to the side of the road.

The two big men didn't waste any more words and ran down to the car, lifted out a large sack from the trunk, which was then shouldered by the bald-headed man, who intended to leave.

Lin Fei took one look and immediately ran down from the car, blocking the two men. He stretched out his hand and said with a smile: "Gentlemen, it seems you've forgotten to pay for your fare."
