Chapter 20: It's best you let me go
"The old saying goes... a woman's heart is the most poisonous", Lin Fei thought to himself.
All the way to the outside of the restaurant, Lin Fei had already seen three fierce policemen rushing over from across the street, and the black-faced policeman at the front was already shouting "Police, don't run!"
Lin Fei really wanted to run, and he could have gotten away with it too, but the problem was that if he ran or struggled with the police, wouldn't that just play into Su Yingxue's hands and become a case of "arresting an escaped prisoner"?
Moreover, he can't even go to explain, because the police are not meant to punish him, but rather to please Su Yingxue, whether or not he commits crimes and extorts money has nothing to do with it.
Lin Fei once again realized that this woman's mind was not ordinary "cruel", grasping a weakness of his that he didn't dare to provoke.
"You stinky brat! You dare to extort Miss Su in Lin'an City? You've got the nerve of a bear's heart and a leopard's gall!"
The black-faced policeman came up and grabbed Lin Fei's hand with a very cool attitude, putting handcuffs on him.
Lin Fei almost rolled his eyes, it was clear that he was being framed, who would be stupid enough to commit a crime right in front of the police station?
"Miss Su, are you okay?" The dark-faced policeman asked with a flattering smile, grabbing Lin Fei's arm, and swallowed his throat because of the beauty in front of him.
Su Yingxue nodded slightly, "I'm fine, he saw me calling the police and was about to escape, fortunately you arrived early, what's your name?"
"Reporting to Miss Su, I am Peng Chao, a battalion commander under Director Fang!" Peng Chao responded loudly with a salute.
Su Yingxue said: "Then trouble Captain Peng, tell Director Fang that I'm very satisfied with your work."
Peng Chao's face lit up with joy. As soon as he heard it was Miss Su from the Su family who had encountered something, he immediately rushed out to lead the way, in order to seize some merit.
The Su family is a top-notch family in Jiang Province, and as long as Su Yingxue mentions Peng Chao in front of Director Fang, his chances of promotion will increase greatly.
Lin Fei, held by two policemen, had a gloomy face. He didn't think of escaping. As a small person, he was at the mercy of others. Whatever they wanted to frame him for, it was all up to the young lady's words.
"Miss Su, what are you going to do with this kid?" Peng Chao asked fiercely, staring at Lin Fei.
"Hey! Officer, isn't this for you to decide? Why are you asking her?" Lin Fei listened and found it strange, almost laughing out loud.
"Shut up! Believe it or not, I'll hit you right now!" Peng Chao said with wide eyes.
Su Yingxue said in a matter-of-fact tone: "Investigate properly first, then detain for 48 hours, and I'll notify you when I've thought of it."
Peng Chao immediately accepted the order, "Yes!"
Su Yingxue walked up to Lin Fei and said with a double meaning: "When you've figured it out and won't 'offend' again, I'll help plead for leniency and get you out. Now I have to go to work, see you later."
After speaking, the woman sat back in the car as if nothing had happened and left, leaving behind a faint scent of jasmine flowers.
Peng Chao waved goodbye with the police officers and shouted "Slow down, Miss Su!"
Lin Fei's face was gloomy, and now he had fallen into the hands of a woman. He was afraid that Su Yingxue would not be satisfied, and the police would continue to detain him.
After sending off the woman, Peng Chao turned back and sneered at Lin Fei, waving his big hand to take him to the police station.
A bald middle-aged man had been waiting inside the police station, who was none other than Director Fang of Lin'an Police Station. Seeing Peng Chao bring people in, he walked forward and asked: "Is this the kid?"
"Director, what do you think we should do with this little brat?" Peng Chao said with a straight face.
"What did Miss Su say?"
Said to be detained for two days first.
Director Fang walked up to Peng Chao and whispered, "Check if he has any background. If he's just an ordinary citizen, then there's no need to ask for my opinion. You should know what to do..."
"I understand!"
Peng Chao nodded with a low, sly laugh and ordered someone to bring Lin Fei into the large office, while he himself went to investigate Lin Fei's information.
Not long after, Peng Chao sat down at a table and began the interrogation.
"What's your name?"
Lin Fei
"How old?"
Twenty-three...
Lin Fei An calmly replied, knowing that this group of people must be trying to frame him. For now, all he could do was cooperate as much as possible; otherwise, the trouble would only escalate. The dark-faced Captain Peng continued to ask some tedious and conventional questions, but found Lin Fei to be calm and composed, not showing any signs of impatience, which made him furrow his brow.
Generally speaking, a troublemaker will start by being impatient and then pick a fight. After that, he can calmly say that he is not cooperating and begin to take action.
It seems like Lin Fei is not taking the bait at all?
"Put down your pen," said the black-faced policeman, "do you know that you have already committed extortion, which is enough to detain you and even put you in prison for three to ten years."
Lin Fei said with a smile: "Officer, it's the internet age now. Although I haven't read many books, I also know some things."
The extortion crime you mentioned is based on the objective aspect of behavior, where the perpetrator uses threats, coercion, or intimidation to force the victim to hand over property.
You can retrieve the footage from the restaurant's camera, I was having breakfast there from start to finish, and had a bit of an argument with Miss Su, at most it would be just a civil dispute...
"Officer, you don't have any evidence but still want to pin an extortion charge on me, isn't that a bit inappropriate?"
This charge is unacceptable. After all, it's just Su Yingxue's nonsense. If he admits to it, it'll be a big deal. If he doesn't, at most he'll be detained for two days.
"Bang!"
Peng Chao slammed his hand on the table and growled: "You mean I slandered you?"
Lin Fei shook his head, "I'm just clarifying the facts, this is a fair and just police station, not some underground gang gathering, we have to follow reason and law."
"Hmph, you're just a hoodlum who doesn't even have a diploma, and you think you're some kind of big shot lawyer? You dare to lecture me on the law?! Here, I am the law!!"
He got into the police bureau through connections back then, and he hated it when those who understood the law better than him said such things in front of him. He couldn't help but turn red with anger, but because his skin was too dark, it looked more like liver color instead.
"Xu Hao, come here! Take this guy to the interrogation room, I want to interrogate him severely!"
It's just short of physical punishment.
Peng Chao shouted, and a sly-looking thin policeman ran over, smiling fawningly. "Captain Peng, what bad timing! The interrogation room has been taken over by Deputy Director Bai."
"Then send him to a detention center and lock him up for two weeks!" Captain Peng sneered.
"Huh?" Little policeman Xu Hao scratched his head, embarrassed to say: "Captain Peng, this is not in line with the rules, and it hasn't been approved by the leader yet. If we transfer it over, it might..."
Captain Peng frowned, "Tell Old Li that I'm sending someone over, will he still bother to talk nonsense? This kid, I've checked him out, he's got poor relatives in the countryside, and he himself owes rent, if he died, no one would dare to care! Let Old Li give him a good show of his power!"
Xu Hao sighed and patted Lin Fei's back, "Alright, kid, get up. You've messed with the wrong person. Captain Peng isn't someone to be trifled with. Come quietly with me."
Lin Fei furrowed his brow, thinking that this wouldn't work out in the long run. Although he could protect himself, if he delayed for two weeks before coming out, not finding a job would be a minor issue, but owing rent on his house for too long would result in it being taken away.
Just then, two policemen brought in a dark-skinned foreigner from outside. He looked like a Latin American, not very tall but sturdy and compact, with a flat face and curly hair.
Lin Fei glanced at his outfit, a black leather jacket, long tube boots, black jeans, and on his hand, he wore a silver skull-shaped cross ring.
"Two officers, I think you'd better let me go."
Lin Fei suddenly turned his head and said seriously to Peng Chao and Xu Hao.
